One thing I've noticed, while looking at wedding dresses online, is that a lot of the just resemble lingerie. And, I have nothing against it, if you want to feel like the ultimate sexy bride on your day, all the power to you. But that's not me. I don't need to be done up to my neck, but I suppose I am a little more modest than most, it seems. I don't need drastic plunging necklines, sheer corseted tops, slits that go nearly all the way up... I think that I may just commission someone to make my dress at this point, because a lot of the mass market stuff just isn't doing it for me. Maybe I'd feel differently if I actually went and tried stuff on, but I'm not quite ready for that step yet,and with my self image and self confidence issues, I doubt it'll be all that pleasurable an experience when it does happen... But yeah... Plus side of making a dress would be that I could get an identical dress to the St. Pucchi gown I've been in love with since my early teens.

I remember the dread I had about shopping for my wedding gown... I had many reservations about it. They're so expensive for a one time wear, a lot of them do look... well... not my style as you said and I'm not a size zero so there's that too. I did actually end up finding THE dress when I went in person and tried them on and it didn't take me long, which was shocking. I have the same self image and self confidence issues so I totally get it. It could be a fun mother/daughter outing though if you wanted to just give it a try. Even if you don't find the one, it may give you ideas on specific areas of the gown that you liked the way it looked on you and incorporate that into designing one. Just a thought. :)

Married people of VR, I have a question for you. What was the song you did your first dance to?

Logan and I don't have a song, there's not one song that comes to mind for us that we deem as "ours." So, thinking about songs to have our first dance to hasn't been super easy. I like "As the World Falls Down" from the movie, Labyrinth. But, there's also the cliché of dancing to say, "Love Song" by the Cure or "Come Undone" by Duran Duran. I just don't know where to start. A lot of our musical tastes overlap, so it's somewhat easier when we both generally listen to the same stuff, but that also leaves the door wide open for options. So I'm just curious what others have chosen.

vXvampre and I danced to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. I am sure it is considered a cliche' song but it is one of our songs so that's what mattered to us.

That's a beautiful song! I wish Logan and I had something that was meaningful for us as a couple.

I was looking at possible ring options earlier and I stumbled upon this beauty. Opal and meteorite inlays. I think I'm in love. It would give the colorshift I love with the opal, while also allowing me to connect with the cosmos with the meteorite. I'm a space nerd, always have been. So, this is really up my alley.

I love my engagement ring, like, so freaking much. Whenever I wear it, I often just stare at it, watching the shift in colors in the light. But, I realize I'm pretty bad with not flailing my hands around when I do things, and I find myself banging my ring into all kinds of things. So, I told Logan that for my wedding ring, I would just prefer a simple band, no stones. As much as I like the shinies, I'm not elegant and careful with my movements, I'm a mess. And it would kill me to ruin a wedding ring. I'm going to put my engagement ring on a necklace, I bought a cheap labradorite ring to wear on my ring finger, something where I won't beat myself up if something happens to it. But yeah, a simple silver or titanium band would be nice, maybe with an engraving.

I've been thinking about a theme for the wedding, and it's actually not as easy as I figured it would be. I want something that fits both Logan and I, while also being something that could easily fit the date, Halloween. So far I've got a few, but I'm not sure which I'm leaning most towards.

- Celestial
- Masquerade (Labyrinth-esq if we do our first dance to "As the Wold Falls Down")
- 'Til Death (skeletons and whatnot)
- Love Never Dies (vampire-ish: lots of reds and velvet and blacks, skulls)
- General Halloween (bats, pumpkins)

I know I want a coffin shape instead of a standard arch for the alter, and I want to stick with a moodier color palette.

I'm not into the whole bachelor/bachelorette party nonsense. One last hoorah before you get married seems super weird to me. But, since we are looking at a Halloween wedding, I think it would be pretty cool to see if I could gather up, at the very least my sister-in-law, and go spend a few days in Salem. I've always wanted to do Salem in October, and this would be an amazing excuse to make it happen. We could do the historic stuff, take a look at the old Salem, and then the new witchy stuff. Crystal shops, go see the house from Hocus Pocus, I saw a video from a shop where you can make your own broom, which would be so fun. But yeah, maybe see if I could take Liz and maybe Tommy. The two people I know would appriciate such a trip. A witchy weekend in Salem sounds way more fun than clubbing or strip clubs or whatever it is most people do.

I needed a new journal section, just for myself. Mostly so I can put all my wedding related thoughts and ideas in one place to look over as needed. I expect most, if not all entries here, will be private, as I doubt VR cares about my wedding plans.
