Spells

15:04 Oct 22 2005
Times Read: 814

There are tons of sites with spells, hundreds of books about magic, millions of people who`ll tell you they know what it is all about. Beleive you me, the best spell is the one you create for yourself. I`m not going to write any spells here. If you don`t know how to create one, then most likely you`re only fooling around with something you`ll end up regretting. I know many people who wanted to 'try' to be witches, only to realize that Wicca was not about flashing lights and having power over enemies and lovers. So, to spare you a disappointment, if you just want to do spells, CLEAR OFF. Being a witch is nothing to do with that. In fact the word 'witch' itself comes from the Celts and means 'Wise One'.

You don`t 'become' a witch. Either you are or you aren`t. And beleive me, if you are, YOU KNOW.

Spell Casting

09:22 Oct 22 2005
Times Read: 817

Spell casting is not necessarily tied in with the religious side of Witchcraft and anyone who is willing to harness their own Personal Power can cast them effectively. A spell is a way to focus and activate your imagination and will power, a mental projection, spoken, written or thought, sent out into the universe to effect change. The

most important ingredient in a spell is intent, fueled by emotion. You must truly want for something to happen with all your being. Your desire pushes and drives your energy into the Magick. You need to have imagination,

concentration, will power and clear intent. When casting a spell, the most important thing to understand is your intent and emotion. If you are even slightly uncertain as to your true intention, then wait to cast. Upholding the Reed is paramount. To cast when you are uncertain may bring results that you are accountable for, yet never intended.

Many spells are composed in rhyme. The reason for this is it makes them easier to memorize, (and reading by candlelight can be straining!). Keeping these spells in your Book of Shadows, allows for easy reference, and also for keeping record of which spells are most effective for you, and which ones need to be altered or tossed. Just as with a cookbook, you keep the recipes you like, and change or scrap the ones you don't! Words can allow you to experience your power. For instance, try feeling the difference between claiming "I think" and " I know". Each inspires a different reaction or energy, and knowing which words are most inspiring for you will serve to enhance your spell work.

If you have selected a pantheon for your work, it may be a good idea to research the language of the people who produced that pantheon. The more time and attention you invest in your spells, the more effective you will become.
