I'm sure that most, if not all of us on VR are familiar with the unpleasant business of having to keep some aspects of our lives hidden from our families and/or communities. Whether it be a love for magic, craft, blood consumption, or any number of other things, sometimes people are just not accepting. It can be hurtful, especially when the negativity is coming from someone you love or admire. I am a Witch, and I have chosen to keep my practice mostly hidden because of the negative experiences that I've had. I practice in solitude and few people know what I believe in. I just wanted to offer some tips for those of you that may be experiencing this. Things that can help you feel connected to your beliefs, that will likely go unnoticed by your peers. First, I like to use oil/ potion blends. It's a good way to have a little of your magic on your person, without drawing attention. You can make blends for concentration, protection, serenity, success, etc. Another thing I like to do is carry a couple of small stones, usually in my bra or pocket. Whatever stones seem to be appealing to me that day. Jewelry is another great way to have something symbolic with you. If you don't want anyone to see it, you can wear it on a long chain around your neck and keep it under your shirt or in a pocket. Using candles that are plain to the eye, but have been blessed or had a spell cast on them is a great way to have your craft present in your home when you have guests that might not react well to a full altar. Bowls of crystals, incense, seashells, and oil diffusers are other things that can have magical purpose that a guest might not notice, because they appear to be a decoration or just something to make your home smell good. I hope that someone finds these tips useful, and I hope the day finds you all well. Blessed be )O(
