My niece's first word was asshole.
She heard her father referring to it during last years Thanksgiving Day football game and decided then and there she was going to speak. She sat down on the floor in front of the TV, looked at her father, pointed her finger and said "asshole" to him....
They are but tiny little molds of what surrounds them.
I know I have to limit my words of choice around my son, he is almost 7 months old and is learning everything else pretty fast himself...

yes mine has grown so much and from what i can see smarter than he should be. he heard me say fuck from stubbing my toe i thought he was sleeping when he got up he pretended to fall and said ah fuck and laughed.

At a very young age they can repeat just about anything you say not know if it's good or bad till you sit them down an have that long talk with them. I know it's very hard to try not to cuss even around little kids. But, with a lot of practice you can make it through by saying Ouch!!! Or really! Or Who put this here? An laugh about it.
