The meaning behind... Tower of Babel... The power of Unity.

There is a single scripture that catches the eye of even the atheistic minds that search for understanding. A story so compelling within the bible that holds a meaning far beyond what it speaks of. Genisis 11, the fall of the Tower of Babel.

The Tower of Babel

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Many would see that 'God' punished man for being able to do anything. But it was not the case. Instead, the story describes that they used such unity and power to cast a tower high into the sky in hopes to reach Heaven itself, to grant them the ability to touch the throne of this specific god.

Such power was gifted to mankind, it's use was to provide a power to them to survive and live with a sense of energy that no other creature could uphold. Even angels and demons could not possess such power of unity.

The power of Unity has proven time and time again that when many are of the same cause, they can achieve anything. And that when unity is broken, only then the indestructible tower can be destroyed. No matter if it is used for good, like aiding the homeless, hungry, or poor. Or evil, such as taking over a nation, empire, or in this case Heaven. So long as unity can be achieved and stay strong among enough people. The limits in which it holds become limitless.

In the end, the quote: "Together we stand, divided we fall" originates from this scripture. I wished you all to take a gander. Ponder, and perhaps take an understanding to things. You may believe the bible is false, you may see it true. Yet, one thing is true. There are many things we can learn from any religion, any spiritual way of life. Things that can be adapted into our everyday life to make things just a slight bit easier. Christianity is not the only spiritual walk with such wisdom behind the stories it holds.
