The Old Lady

I've mentioned it once or twice in previous entries. The big, red house I grew up and lived in until I was 17 years old was most definitely haunted. The house was huge. Across the street from my house was the Mill River. I wander if the river plays any role with the hot spot of paranormal activity I was forced to endure during my childhood. My sister is psychic and I am an empath. I'm sure that didn't help the situation.

When I was small I shared a bedroom with my sister. I liked the room in itself. I always felt cozy and peaceful. I never had nightmares and I always slept good.

When I was 8 my parents renovated the house. They gave me my own bedroom. I loved to have friends sleep over on the weekends. There was a few times (5 in all, I think) that a friend would go upstairs to use the bathroom and come back to me and say:

Friend: "I didn't know your grandma lives with you?"

Me: "She doesn't. My grandma lives in Vermont".

Friend: "Well who is the old lady sitting in the rocking chair in your sister's room?"

Me: "There is no old lady in my sister's room. We are the only ones here, in the house."

We'd go up and peek in my side's room and sure enough, there would be no one in the room. After this happened two or three times I caved and talked to my sister about it. My sister told me that she sees the ghost of an old lady who lives in her bedroom. Over time I had a developed a mental picture of the old lady. She had white and grey hair pulled into a bun. There was a sad expression on her face. She wore a long, dark skirt and a lacy, long sleeved ivory top.

My daughter has a very similar set of psychic abilities to my sister's. One day when we were talking about guardian angels she told me that she could see mine. She then described the old lady from my sister's room; skirt, shirt, sadness and all. My daughter told me about how the old lady followed me everywhere and tried to protect me. I had never told he about the ghost that lived in my sister's room.

Some how, I can see a "picture" of myself, as an infant. My mom would sit in the rocking when she was feeding and holding me. The old lady must have been drawn to me. She watched me grew up. She must have felt close to me. I guess she never wanted to leave me.

This is my 7 year old Lion head / mini-red, Pb.

She was a rescue bunny. Some one got her for their small daughter, had to move, and couldn't keep. She lived in outdoor hutch. Her caged was clean and she was fed properly, but she was never taken out of her cage. Rabbits are social creatures so it was very difficult for Pb to spend all that time alone.

I named her Pb which was short for Party Boy. Whoops. I was told by the person who gave me her that she was a boy. I didn't realize the mistake until after a year of owning her. By that time she had learned that her name was Pb so I decided not to change it. Most people think that Pb stands for Peanut Butter.

I absolutely adore Pb. She loves to cuddle up with me and watch tv. She loves it when I pet and she will nip at me if I take a break. Her fur is so soft. I love to give her snacks. She likes carrots, celery, dark leafy greens, apples, and bananas. She is shy and doesn't like to be watched while she eats.

When it is warm out I bring her out to my backyard so she can enjoy the fresh air. She likes to stay near my fence and nibble on leaves. She especially likes to be out right after it has rained and the grass is glistening and wet.

When Pb roams the house I have to make sure all the electric cords are out of reach. She has eaten my head phones and a few USB cords numerous times.:-)

She is territorial when it comes to her cage. She thinks and charges at me when I clean it. She thumps her back legs when she is annoyed or scared. In some ways she is better than a guard dog.

I love her eyes, but when I pick her up the whites show too much and she looks kind of freaky.

Rabbits are great! (And really clean too)
