just so everyone knows, this was my final for creative writing.. its a beautiful thing gone wrong... hope you enjoy it =)

The sunlight shimmers on the gently swaying ocean as our ship cruises at three knots. The suns rays glisten on the sweat relaxing on the tanners bodies. Seagulls call overhead, occasionaly swooping down to get a quick meal. The ship is rocking back and forth but it's so light nobody seems to notice. Guests are scattered around the boat, marveling at the sights to be seen from the deck. It's amazing how many people are on this ship and it's amazing, the look in their eyes when they see something they've been waiting to see for a lifetime; their eyes smile like a childs on christmas morning. Couples old and new walk around the deck holding hands and smiling at each other with such passionate eyes, it takes the breath out of me. It's unbelievable how much a simple vacation can do for people, how much it changes them from everyday life. Luxeries not to be found elsewhere, are in every room and available to every guest on the ship; nobody would have guessed their trip would be this good. The sights and sounds from every side of the ship are unimaginable and passengers take full advantage of them every chance they can. At night, the stars fill the sky like never before and during the day, the sky is clearer then I've ever seen in all my days. This trip would indeed be the best I've taken, but little did I or anyone else know, it would be the last.

On the fourth day at sea, the clouds grew dense and grey, it was going to rain; all we could do was watch and wait. That day, there were few if any passengers on deck; the sea was just to rough and the sky too dark to enjoy. The entire morning, the deck was almost empty, everyone was waiting for the rain to come down; it didn't. For two days, the clouds stayed dark but the rain didn't come; only on the sixth day did the sky and the sea show us their fury. The morning of the sixth day, there were no gulls calling in the wind, in fact, there were no gulls in the sky; we knew the rain was coming. When the rain started, it was light and cold; nobody thought anything of it. After a short while, the clouds let go of everything they were holding in them and the sea rocked the ship violently; unleashing itself like never seen before. Lightening flashed and thunder boomed; the storm was upon us. Some passengers were locked away in their rooms, suffering from sea-sickness; others were out and about, trying to ignore the rain and sea.

By the time the rain stopped, there was nothing left of the ship or its passengers, the sea claimed everything. It would have no mercy on anyone or anything; it would kill as it pleased and would claim everything in its path. Nothing, nothing could stop the fury of the sea when it unleashed all that it had. The perfect vacation, the happy couples, all that I had seen had disappeared. All the luxeries and the childish looks in the passengers eyes were erased from the earth in an instant. The gulls that had abandoned us right before the storm, returned only to pick at the remains of the lifeless corpses that floated soullessly on the suddenly calmed water. I watched as the sunlight returned to kiss the waters edge and send shimmers over the already damned passengers; the calmness and serenity of the sea, made their demise almost beautiful. I saw all this and more in my day, and I will never forget the souls that were lost over the years nor the looks in their eyes. And I will never forget that I am trapped here, to watch the chaos and destruction of man and woman by nature, as my soul watches the sea for eternity...
