Quote: Hell hath no fury like an author plagiarized - ME.
My name is Nicola Chey Matthews. I have been writing for as long as I have been able to put pen to paper, which is about 28 years now. I wrote my first complete novel at the age of 13. Writing is, to say the least, my secret passion. Over the years I have jotted down poems, stories, and ideas that have spawned a life of their own. Needless to say, with so many years of writing under my belt, I have collected quite a few rejection letters from traditional publishers. My main problem with publishers were their insistence that professional proofreaders and editors could not do their job unless they ripped my work apart and reassembled it into something that did not remotely resemble my original work. And since I prefer writing erotic fantasy, what few publishers were interested in the general storyline quickly lost interest when they realized that I would not budge on changing what I considered to be key elements to the story. So a few years ago I started researching self-publishing. In 2008 I self-published my first novel, Temptation, which was a collection of short erotic stories. Since then I have written several articles about self-publishing and mentored numerous budding authors, including my daughter. I am currently working on a trilogy of novels and 2 novelettes, one of which is a spin-off from the first book in the BEFORE THE SUN RISES series. The first 8 chapters of the first novel in the series, called "The Red Fang," can be read on the website TheRedFang.webs.com
Originally a short story, "Vindictus, The Dark Lord" has been met with so much positive energy and requests for more to be added to the storyline that I have since decided to actively seek publication for this story. Many thanks to all those who have encouraged me to finish this story and put it up for publication.
With tons of requests for my blogging articles on writing, I am also putting together a guide to creative writing which is being titled "The Wrong Way to Write Well." It is my sincere hope that my articles involving the self-publishing world will help authors decide if self-publishing is the way for them to go. I also hope that my mentoring of fellow writers will help them find their own writing voice. If nothing else, I hope that my twenty-eight years of writing experience and my own trials and errors will help other authors find their way in the writing world.
