Radio Sunnydale, the last music compilation to be released with the title Buffy the Vampire Slayer featured on it's cover, is darker than the original Buffy soundtrack released when the show was on the WB (that compilation was comprised mainly of teen pop music) and fits the tone of the last two seasons of the series. The opening main title theme by The Breeders isn't as good as Nerf Herder's, while punk icon Joey Ramone's "Stop Thinking About It" and Aimee Mann's "Pavlov's Bell" are solid. Dashboard Prophets' "Ballad For Dead Friends" however captures the essence of the series, and Sarah McLachlan's "Prayer of Saint Francis" (which closed out season 6) is a soaring ballad that might actually bring you to tears. Tracks from Nikka Costa and Lunatic Calm however, feel more than out of place; particularly Costa's "Everbody's Got Their Something" which just sounds too poppy for it's own good. "The Final Fight"; the closing orchestral number from the show's final episode composed by Rob Duncan is worth the price of this CD alone, and is one of the most amazing and engaging scores to ever be heard from the series. All in all, fans of Buffy who miss the show should pick this up to rekindle memories of TV greatness, and "The Final Fight" is worth getting this for alone.
