The Thornberrys are driving in the Andes Mountains in Peru on the way to visit Dr. Renfield. Dr. Renfield is a bat expert who lives in a giant castle and acts like a vampire. Eliza thinks absent-minded Dr. Renfield may be a vampire. While Eliza and Debbie try to scare each other in the castle Nigel, Marianne and Dr.Spinoza go off in search of bats. But when the girls fall down a trap door into a giant cave,they find more than bats down there to scare them.
