The 1996 murders of Rick and Ruth Wendorf opened a window into a universe where teen alienation and vampire fantasies form a deadly mix. 16-year-old Rod Ferrell, self-described vampire cult leader, preached about gore and death, and led his followers in blood-drinking ceremonies. This youthful but macabre role-playing took a fatal turn, however, resulting in the bludgeoning deaths of a Florida couple whose daughter had joined the group.
