A Miniature Tower perched on top of Wayne Manor from Tim Burton’s 1992 blockbuster sequel, Batman Returns. The film follows the Caped Crusader (Michael Keaton) as he fights to protect Gotham City against the deadly combination of the preposterous Penguin (Danny DeVito) and the curvaceous Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer). The tower is seen when Commissioner Gordon (Pat Hingle) radios headquarters to turn on the Batsignal, alerting the multiple signal mirrors around Wayne Manor to shine in on Gotham’s champion.
This tower is constructed out of sturdy sheets of particle board, a typical material for miniature model-making. On the two sides facing camera small lines have been cut into the board to give the illusion of bricks and then spray-painted to highlight the mansion’s old, ancestral state. Small leaf designs are also present lending intricacy to the piece, along with small pieces of dried plaster meant to simulate snow on camera. The back sides remain unfinished, partially painted and detailed. The piece measures 11”x8”x18” (28cm x 20cm x 46cm) and is in good production used condition.
