About The Coven
The Coven is a monthly alternative nightclub and community specialising in Goth, industrial, EBM and dark alternative music.
The Coven has developed into an active community-based club reknown for it's atmosphere and great music, interstate/overseas DJs and live bands.
Coven is held on the first Friday of every month at Halo Nightclub in Hobart, Tasmania.
History
Coven began in May 2000 with the original team of Cthulu, Narcolepsy, Narcosis and Slaveangel as a gothic/industrial/alternative/EBM nightclub at ICQ in Hobart, Tasmania. Since then, The Coven has developed into an active community-based club reknown for it's atmosphere and great music, interstate/overseas DJs and live bands. Recently the Coven has hosted successful interstate bands such as Angelspit, Dustbunny, Rotten Chop, Tankt, The Night Terrors (three times), Resurrection Eve, and Sobriquet. We have also hosted local bands including the legendary Unthroned.
The Coven was handed to Spreckenstein and Changeling from Cthulu and Deadseraph in December 2003 and has been managed, promoted and generally being re-born again. We've had 3 venue moves and are currently based at Halo.
Current Custodians
Spreckenstein and Changeling currently make up the core of the Coven.
Our resident DJs are Oblivion, Lobe-Boy, Changeling and Spreckenstein. Our semi- regular DJs are Sigil and Mandrax. Guest DJs include Roadkill and Digi.
