What is your take on the existence of a higher being? And please state why you believe the way you do.
Essentially the term "Higher Being" would infer the existence of an entity with a greater intelligence than that of a normal human being and with a greater understanding of all matters esoteric, spiritual and physical. I'm pretty sure that mostly everyone, especially here on VR understands the concept of "Higher Being."
But the word “Being” is actually attached to a physical “structure” of a thing. But your meaning is understood.
Let’s assume for a moment a couple of different fronts. One would be that “God” is a supreme entity above and beyond everything because everything was created by this entity. Notice I try not to use the term He which refers to a particular sex which would make the creator less than what the creator is. And if you find that hard to understand then let’s use the passage from the Old Testament which states that “I am a jealous God” Jealousy is a human attribute, a supreme being or supreme entity would not feel jealousy because it would be supreme, above all emotion. And yes love is an emotion as well, a physical emotion. Just as reprisal is an emotion, yet the orders were given in passages of the Old Testament for the children of Israel to slay their oppressors or enemies. Another physical emotion.
Another front would be that man was literally created through a process inn the Bible itself that is akin to a form of genetic cloning. The proverbial “Rib” of man from which Eve was created. Ask yourself, why a rib? Or is it simply symbolic of a matter of scientific process. Genesis states “So WE created man” Who is the we? Well if you read it in the Hebrew, or Arabic, or Aramaic languages you’ll find that the WE is plural, obviously, but attributes to the Elohim, which are referred to as “Angelic” entities. So which is correct one entity creating or many creating?
And since “Angels” were capable of taking on physical forms and, according to scripture having sexual relations with human women and the offspring having the intellect of the father (Angelic being) and Angelic beings eating and drinking as well, you would have to really sit back and re-think the whole matter of creation.
I would prefer to abstain from using the word “God” because it is rendered from the German and the scriptures were not written in German. Therein lies a partial nib of the problem of religious understanding. The term used in the ancient texts was Elah or Ilah, not God or Jehova it is Yahuwa not Jehova. Yahuwa meaning “Oh he who is” which would equate with “I am who I am” The Sufis render a chant which goes “Ya hu, Ya hu Ya man la, Ya la hu ma hu illa hu” Oh he who is, Oh he who is, Oh he who no one knows what he is except He” This chant is thousands of years old and used by the ancient Israelites as well as the Ishmaelites and Khemetic priests. But you see we have a slight problem here. The word “Hu” which infers He, a male entity. If a male entity was understood millennia ago, and if it was a jealous entity and showed emotions throughout the scripture then it has to be a Higher form of life that has a physical form at the least or an ethereal form at the most.
If you were to take a group of babies and raise them in a very simple environment with the only contact being their parents (or scientists or the scientists being their parents either way…and with full co-operation) and raise them in a controlled environment with no contact from the outside world. Set it up so that their parents educated them with the belief that there was a being called ED who was the creator and incorporate such things as what you find in the scriptures……see where I’m going…But then one would have to ask…who created the creators.
