this was inspired by banshees thread of injuries...
(i hope it qualifies with the mods)
Near death experiences... anybody had those?
i can think of a couple...
im allergic to bees, i found out because when i was younger i got bitten by some and i almost died, if it wasnt for the emergency rush t the hospital...i was turning blue, and all swollen like a baloon...
also...almost died with Deity when her car lost the breaks during a rainy day on a bridge...if it wasnt for quick reflexes of grabbing the emergency break, we would've crashed, fallen off and died......
and the many many more ive had....
mainly the one electrocution I mentioned....funny how when getting zapped stops your heart they use the same to get it going again
ooo man... well, heres my story, I'm on the school swim team and once a year we play waterpolo against suffield, a very vicious team. well I was on the defensive side in 12 foot water. now there were about 6 people on suffields team against 3 people on my team that were on the defensive side at the time. one player from suffield had the ball and dived under the group, so i dived in after her. It was me and her under everybodys feet, we were hitting, kicking, smashing each others googles in, and pulled on each others swim caps (which really hurts, i pulls on your hair), now as we were hitting each other, i was kicked in the head by somebody above us and i stopped struggling, the girl went up for air and went to the goal while i was underneath everyone still trying to figure out which way was up and which was down and how to get by all the feet there were in my way from air. I was so close to passing out... knowing that you have no air and that your trying to breath in water. I started to pull on peoples feet but they wouldnt let me god damn up! I finally just stopped moving and my friend dived down and grabbed me. When i reached the air i opened my eyes and then got smacked in the face with the ball.... Never again....
I did. I was schedule with emergency surgery within three days and was lying in my bed at home with heavy pain killers. I was laying there and saw a tall shadowed figure, which I could see through him, he was saying in my head "That no matter what happens I will always be with you." He climbed ontop of me, weighing nothing at all. He sunk into me, ....into me, under my skin. My husband, at the time, walked upto me and waved his hand over my eyes. I blinked when I finally realized he was there. He was genuinely concerned and said "You were barely breathing, are you alright?"
That's my story.
ok... so i probably wouldnt have died.... but it was a scary experience!
wow, thats scary LadyLilian...what do you make of that?
madeline, i concur with you. not being able to breathe while under water is horrible.
when i was 10 something similar happened to me, i guess..kinda..maybe...
i was learning how to dive with no chaperones around the pool or even a lifeguard...anyway, i wen running and "dived" into the water with such force i hit my head against the floor. i think i passed out for a few seconds because all my world went pitch black and everything was spinning. my head hurt so much....i couldnt breathe and i quickly went to surface...
i had a bump in my head for quite sometime...now if u ask me did i ever learned to dive?....nope, until this day i havent tried again lol.
My near death experience with darkness bound was beyond that. The roads were beyond slippery due to heavy rainfall my tires lost total traction. I lost control of the car when the break failed to work. I was sliding out of control and onto the opposite lane. Cars were coming so I jerked the wheel towards the raining at the side of the bridge (I was panicking ). I thought we were going to flip over and die because I totally lost all my reflexes. Thankfully, Darkness Bound was serene enough to be rational and thought of pulling up the e-brake. Close call! We must have been 3 inches away from the railing.
I think the closest for me was when I went white-water rafting. I was about 12 or 13, first time I had been rafting, and got put sitting at the front of the raft. The first real rapid we hit, a Class IV called Surprise ironically enough, I started to lose my footing as we went up on a large wave, and then as we dropped down into the hydraulic, I went over the edge, and came up underneath the raft. The lifejacket I had on was too bouyant to be able to actually swim in, and it pinned me against the underside of the raft, my vision was starting to black out when I finally managed to pop out.
I've also had plenty of times I've almost killed myself driving. lol
I was in a car crash once. The road was wet and we skidded at a turning and went straight into a lampost while doing about 65mph. Scary. I hate to sound like an advert but if we hadnt of been wearing our seatbelts then that WOULD NOT have been just a crash. The car was a bit of a write-off as well.
I dunno if this counts, but I was scared to death nearly!.. Once when I was flying, we flew into airspace that a country felt infringed their rights in the Middle East. Promptly we had 4 fighter aircraft surrounding us, one of which cut in front of our 737. They all were armed with missiles and every time the aircraft turned they did too! We were forced to land in their airport, and when we did the military surrounded the airplane pointing their rifles at us. Finally their soldiers borded, searched us and the plane before we were allowed to take off back to our orginating country again. That was a scary ordeal to be sure!!
omg emmy, thats really scary...and me that i'm scared sh!tle§s of heights....i wouldve died....
lol
in my dreams i have had them but since i have learned to control my dreams through lucid dreaming i no longer have them in the same sence
I haven't had a near death experience, but when i was closest to death and survived, a few weeks later i was crying in the middle of the (then) local rock club. uncontrolably thinking "I might not be touching this" then i had a few STRONG memories. come to mind that just fueled my tears more.
13 years old, I was in a fist fight at my school when the guy I was fighting pulled a knife on me and stabbed me in the shoulder. As you can imagine... ouch. Time just kind of slows down when you got well over 4 inches of steel in your shoulder.
Also, probably when I got hit by a car... that thing was going pretty fuckin' fast and the minute I felt it tap me I was floating in nothingness.
Then I woke up....
With half of my tongue hanging by a thread. :: Shudders :: Yeah, bad stuff.
put it this way, i should be dead. A couple of times just wrong place wrong time, the other by my own hands. And, from this, i believe that i got an insight into my fate (the time when i will die) my next birthday, i know this will be the day i no longer breathe,.. so be it.. i have no fears.. i welcome what must be..
lets see. i have had many near death experiances, many by my own hand, but i am not going to go into that. but there is one experiance that i have had that wasnt my fault. it was my car accident. i was pulling out of a gas station in my dads gfs car and i didnt see anyone coming, the next thing i know, i wake up in the hospital with a concussion and a fractured vertabray. from what i was told, i got hit a 90+ mph, plus the guy was speeding up upon impact. i was told that if the seat belt had not disengaged, i would have died because of being crushed between the side of the car and the center console, but if i hadnt been wearing my seat belt (which i was) or if it had disengaged to early, i would have been thrown through the windshield and killed because the car that i was in would have landed on top of me. the guy t-boned me, hit me hard enough to knock the my vehical into the parking lot across the street, clearing the devider that ran around the edge of the grass, landing on all four tires and pointed looking like i was pulling out. when i get a chance i will see about getting some of the pics of my car so you can see how bad it was
wow 666 thats pretty tought. im glad youre ok and lived to tell the tale. *hugs*
^_^
and Dhampir hunnie...dont say things like that. u cant die because i said so...now if u want me to ill take it up with death. ~_^
*bows to you humbly* well thank you hun, and i to am glad that i am still alive
*kisses u on the cheek*
me too! =)
you were the first person that said hi to me when i got here!
^_^
I have one not really my own but I can't seem to get it to post here so I shall post it on my journal. Please go and read. For you my learn something.
thanks Darkness.. We were "dead heading" with no passengers on board. apparently we had verbal permissions for take-off but no written or wirelessed communications, and that is why it happened.
Echo.. that must of been terrifying you are so lucky. Nothing can be worse than seeing a tree getting closer and closer to you
Now, this doesn't seem to fit in with everyone else's near death experiences, but it was terrifing none the less.
My ex tended to be a bit abusive, and one day, I must have done something to get him upset (I don't know what) and he pulled out a gun on me and was waving it around. I stood there like a deer in the headlights and I finally gathered enough of my wits to make a run for it. I ran out the door and he fired, hitting the spot where I had been moments prior.
It scared the hell outta me, but that's why he's my ex, ne?
Ok, this isn't and near death experience, this is a death experience.... I was born with a hole in my heart (as most everyone is born with a hole in their heart and it usually closes within their first month after birth this is not strange) ... but mine never closed up. I was brought to the hospital near dead from Pneumonia several times within my first 5 months after birth, until finally an intern discoverd a heart murmer... which then prompted more test to discover the hole ... anywho ... in the course of my life I have had 3 heart surgeries, all in which it is documented in my files that my heart completely stopped, and had to be restarted ... and these were not planned stopages ... but that my heart of it's on accord stopped. I didn't know about this, as I was never told nor do I even remember it happening, until when I moved out of my home for the first tme and my father gave me my whole medical files that he had kept through the years, and i sat down to read it one day. Honestly I have to say that, that was truly a turning point in my life (aside from the day my daughter was born). I cried as I finally realized just how valubale my life as well as anyones life truly is...
wow dami. It's a good thing you made it through. We need wonderful people like you alive. ♥
well lets see where to start i had to many but the one that sticks out the most is where i went hunting with my dad and we where all fucking around and one min i am standing and then the next was my dad lowering his 9mm and hitting the triger and i just remember the fucking bullet going right past my ear and hearing it fly right past me opened my eyes to relize i was still alive.
I fell and had a hole in my head, i was only 1year old or something like that, and it bled really bad, i still have the scar.
Wow Dami, *hugs* im glad to have u here with us. youre a beautiful person, and like Deity said, we need more people like u
*smiles*
I want to thank everyone for sharing such experiences, it shows how valuable life is and how much it is appreciated.
you all are wonderfuL! and im glad ure here today sharing the stories...
i love you all!
*hugs*
All these stories I have read are very sad, and I'm glad we all are still alive and kicking, well alive in a sense lol, I have had 5 near death experiences one which was not by my own hand, well this one happened on a snowy, dark, december morning as a mere child of darkness, We were driving down the road, my father at the wheel, roads a bit icy, heading towards the babysitters, well the car began spinning out of control, did not know which way was up, after what seemed like hours we stopped spinning with a thud, we all cleared our heads, I found my brother in my lap he had flew from the back and smacked his lip on the windshield and landed on my lap, my father hit his head on the steering wheel, me I was fine, Miraculously, but the near death experience came when we got outta the car and looked at the damage done by the telephone pole, and I happened to look behind the pole, behind the pole not a foot, was a gas line pole, I realized how close we came from being burnt to a crisp, thus being burned is one of the ways to kill our kind, With this thought racing through my head we went to the hospital to take my brother and his bloody lip, I leave you all with this thought, If you ever think about suicide, don't, for you may think no body loves you, but in reality, there is always someone that does, whether they tell you they do or not, and Hope you all do not have another near death experience, and hope that everyone else does not experience what we have
Well, mine wasn't exactly a near death experience, but her goes. I was walking a long a with a couple of friends near some cliffs next to the water. Now, my friends run off down a different path to find a quick way down to the beach at the foot of these cliffs (the cliffs, by the way, were only around 10 to 15 metres high and at the bottom were large jagged rocks from being so close to the water). I found what appeared to be a small path down the cliff face. I slipped on the dirt and started to slid down this track, i just saved myself by grabbing onto a passing tree root. When i got back up the cliff, i decided to walk around a bit more to find a better route. I walked aournd a bit and then looked at the path i had fallen down, it finished in a sheer drop onto the rock. If i hadn't grabbed for that tree root, i would have surely died.
Well, that's mine, nothing much to it really.
well mine happened as an act of stupidity and comedy. me and my friend Taylor were at the bowling alley with another friend of mine. but we didnt want to bowl so we left and started walking around back and in the back were these train tracks so we walked over there and on the way we were talking about jeeppers creepers and how all scary movies are all the same and how the white females always die and when we got to the tracks we saw the train coming but it seemed farther away than it was and there was another train stationed onthe tracks so when we crossed we had to crawl under there and well Taylor went first then i followed her but when i went to go under my pants got stuck on a part of the train and we couldnt get them uncaught and when we finally did not 10 seconds after i pulled my legs under the stationed train did the other train pass by us...if i were a second slower at getting undone i wouldnt be here......however we laughed it off and going back across i went first and Taylor went last and her pants got stuck but no train was coming and she jokingly yelled "IM THE WHITE GIRL!" it was scarey yet funny but thats my story
wow 12angles, that was a close call. glad ur safe. and VB im glad ur safe too as well as your brother and father....
i guess it goes to show that if it isnt your time in the big book (or however they say it) you ain't gonna die.
and im glad for that.
im going to tell a story here.
when i was 8 my parents decided to come to america in a yatch that we had back in cuba, well....as the night descended the ocean started getting rough....the waves hit the yatch and over passed getting water in, i was 8 at the time so it was pretty scary experience....we almost sunk, then the motor broke and thank goodness my dad is a mechanic and fixed it...all this under a storm. we had a tent and it got stuck on the fan and hit my dad on the chest leaving a mark and almost killed him. then the ocean calmed down and it was all fine until my dad's friend spotted sharks. they also saw some empty rafts along the way...which they kept me form seeing it but i remember the fear and the shock in their faces....then in need to throw up, i was sea sick and i almost fell in the water if it wasnt for my mom holding me. thats the reason why im so afraid of the ocean and anything under it....the sea was so high that i could touch the water, and it was all dark and eerie....scary...
but anyway thats another close call back in my past...and im here telling the tale...more stuff happened after that but im sure y'all dnt wanna hear about it...
anyway.
these experiences i've been through have taught me to appreciate my life more, and be thankful im here to tell of them.
=)
I almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning once. When I was 12. I've almost drowned twice. Once by a friend who thought it would be cute to hold me under water. Some friend hm? I was 9 then, and it's safe to say I am not friends with her anylonger. I had a very bad caseof sunpoisoning that was looking pretty bad, I still felt burned after a month even, that wasn't a nde but I was extremely ill. I had a severe allergic reaction when I was 9 also that huge blisters covered my body and it felt like my throat was beginning to close up. I went on antibiotics which my body rejected, and I was out of school for 3 weeks from. I've almost died from a suicide attempt when I was 16 as well, something I'm not proud of, but am atleast honest about. I've also gotten attacked by 2 large dogs when I was 5. At the time the dogs were both larger than I was. I could have very easily died that day, but I came out with only a few minor injuries. I've had a few other experiences with dogs. One other time my mom was bitten by a dog while I was right there, eyelevel. She actually pushed me out of the way and took the bite for me. This dog was also larger than myself at the time. I hit my spine once so hard that I thought my neck was broken too. And I've almost been in a few car accidents. There's been alot, I'm sure stuff I even forgot to name, it's hard to keep up with.
i must live a really cautious existence :S i can't say i've actually had what i would call a 'near death experience' i was in a really nasty accident where the car i was in rolled 10 times, when i 9, but i slept through the whole thing and woke up when my dad was trying to get me out of my seat and i was pretty much upside down... didn't even have a scratch or bruise on me hehehehehehe, then there was the time i was attacked, by a guy.... not long after i moved to sydney... tried to do evil things to me... but he was the one who came out worse... again not a scratch or bruise lol ????????
::goes off to ponder::
ok had one again....i swear i could have kissed the floor if the car wasnt moving!
we drove into oncoming taffic by mistake!!!!!!! my friend in the front seat was pointing and stuttering "gi gi gi gi gi gisselle!!!!!!!!!" while i screamed and Gisselle screamed and got nervous backing up in a hurry.
thank god the red light was keeping all those cars stopped while this happened...
nevertheless, i was already having hot flashes and feeling paler than the color white itself.. running away from the 'light' LOL (((literally)))
ps: i think my ears popped with all our screaming
This is a really interesting thread.
I was in a car crash last summer.
The year before, I went to the Leeds Festival. My friends and I decided to drunkenly 'sleep under the stars' in our sleeping bags. Mine wasnt a very good quality one and I was a bit cold. Later on everyone decided togo into their tents and they thought they had everyone moving... but I wasn't woken up. It started to rain heavily and my sleeping bag filled with water and about 5am I awoke, unable to move form the cold and evry short of breath. a Scottish guy fell over me, and only noticed that I was a person when I groaned a bit. He picked me up and took me to the nearest tent (my firends luckily) and I thank that man, as I would have been VERY ill form that.
When I was under a year old I got a really bad infection and my immune system starting attcaking my own organs so the doctors had to cripple my immune system except they killed off too much too fast and because of it I get sick easy and have been in the hospital in ICU twice for lung infections... so I guess I could have died three times...
When I was really young i got a horribly high fever. I stopped breatheing and turned all blue. If my parents hadn't checked me out when i didn't respond to them i would have suffocated.
I know ive had more but this is the only on i can think of a t the moment.
Ok so i was at my friends house and everything and he started a back yard wrestling thing and i was in it.So i was wrestling and my friend made a table of chairs and he slammed me in it and i got knocked out and the last thing i remember hearing was "holy crap".I Then as i was passed out i swear i heard a voice that said is not your time. After that i remeber wakin up in my bed and my mom sleepin on my bedroom floor.
A few years ago I was swimming with a couple of my friends, I dived and my head hit the bottom of the pool, I almost past out but I didn't thank god.. I could have died inn that situation, I could have broke my neck and drowned to death. Luckily I got away with a three inch cut on my forehead. The strangest thing was that I didn't fear for my life for one moment. You can describe my ädventure" as a near death experiene but it never felt like one...
