Anyone in here have any experience in drawing blood? I would like to draw some to experiment with Bacstroms Aphorisms. I have a friend who is a phlebotomist but she will only do it if I get the needle and equiptment. Who knows where you get that. I also noticed the community college here offers a course in phlebotomy with no prerequisites, so that is an option for myself. I dont actually trust myself to just slice into somewhere and let it run out :) What do you all think?
I have done bloodletting, when I was younger mostly. It is not something to be taken lightly, and I wouldn't recomend it to everyone. There are serious risks involved, and I would recomend they both persons involved be tested for HIV/AIDS and other diseases. I know of places in the city (NYC), clubs, that regularly do blood-kisseing, and have razor blades available to the patrons. That is just NOT safe. When I did bloodletting, it was with an exactoknife, which I cleaned before hand, and someone that I had known for many years.
I repeat though, I would not recommend this practice.
Well I was thinking more along the lines of purchasing a sterile needle etc. Like they use at the bloodbanks.
I don't know about that, I don't know anyone that has used a needle to take blood. I think its harder that way, and more dangerous because you are taking more blood.
Again, I don't recomend this.
I don`t know for u people, but here (Serbia) u can bye a needle in a pharmacy store. It is not hard to draw blood, but it`s better to let someone else do that to you.I tried it myself, i got it right the third time. As for `cut and let it run` i did that too, but it is harder to get it into something, and it coagulates quicker.
So i recomend you to get a needle and afriend who knows how to handle it.
I've always been for the good old fashion slice and let run :) mmmmmm i do enjoy a good bloodletting :)
I am in the USA, here you can not just go in and buy a needle. I may go look at a veterinary supply place.
I study as a Veterinary Tech, and have worked at a Vet Hospital. You cannot usually get needles without a script. They also do not ship to the home, usually shipping to your Vet's office. I might be wrong on that though, but to my understanding thats how most of them work.
This has intreged me. What kind of needle are you talking about?
This thread is gonna get RIP'ed soon, as it has been done before. If you look up previous threads you'll find other people's opinions. Check out these threads......"Blood????" started by Cypher, "Serious thoughts needed" started by Xera, and "Blood letting" started by Dani.
As I said before, and will probably repeat over and over, I do not recommend this. There are too many hazards that can happen. And, yes I hate to bring up the age factor, there are too many users under the legal age here, who might get the wrong idea about BloodLetting.
These are my two cents though........take them as you will.
