Greetings all,

I have a question and I'm interested in answers from anyone from any and all viewpoints.

Does anyone constantly experience 'Deja Vu', a feeling that you have done something/been somewhere before even though you know logically that you haven't?

Personally I have experienced this phenomena in everything from traveling on a journey to reading a book to the extent that I know what's around a corner or down a road to missing chapters in a book as I know what's going to happen. Or even future events that I dreamed actually happening days/ months later.

Have you had similar experiences and does anyone have an explanation for this?

Regards,

Twisted.

I'm in a family coven and we have talked about this.. We believe, that when we are asleep, that sometimes our mind can travel into the next day. The reason we have Dejavu is because our mind has been here already, but we don't remember it completely. The feeling of Dejavu is our subcon. remembering. Anyway that's what we believe.

Twisted Whisper,

Yes, I have had many intances of Dejavu. I do not know why this is the case, but it has happened many times. To include dreams, conversations, and "prophetic" dreams. This has been so always.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is always good to know others may experience what we do, and have no answer for. Be blessed.

I've had it since I was little. My first recolection was when we were going to my Moms friends house, and as we were driving threw town I could see cobblestone streets and gas lamps. It felt so familiar, it was so weird.

I get deja-vu every 2 or 3 days, from places that have all in it: sound smell people, details of the place simple or complicated all complete. And from words people say suddenly its a deja-vu I had seen heard already, it happens more frequently lately, I must say its still give me shivers and makes me freak a bit, but I know what it is so I can deal with it, just wish it would not be as frequent sometimes.

I would venture to say that just about everyone on the planet has experienced this at one time or another, myself included.
Deja vu plagues certain individuals more than others, who have trouble distinguishing between separate but similar places and experiences ,including some who have certain types of epilepsi.

Many people believe that this is some kind of left over memeory or a life past lived or that Dejavu is somehow related to procognition.
However, the guys over at Picower have recently made a discovery which might help explain some of the mechanics behind Deja vu.
This latest research suggests that a certain group of neurons called "place cells" fire to create a type of blueprint for any new place we encounter. Those same neurons fire, everytime we go into the area anytime after that. Its because of this, that we dont need to relearn something over and over again, everytime we go someplace or do something.Everytime we enter an area a bluprint is formed by the place cells.
If we were to enter a space realy similar to one we have already been to and seen before, new but overlapping sets of blueprint are formed. Eventually, there is enough overlap between the two sets or blueprints ,and we experience that super eerie feeling of Déjà vu.
Many years ago I asked a brain surgeon what caused Dejavu, and his answer to me was that sometimes our synapse mis fire ,or double fire, causing us to us to feel like we have been somewhere or done something before..

*looks up* well that was a rather scientific explanation. Anyway I just wasted to add that it sounds more like premonitions or intuition than Deja vu. *shrugs* to some people it might all be the same. But that's just what I think. Questions?

Mechanics of the natural world is normally explained in that manner, Sammantha.
I am going to say, however ,that I agree with you in that it sounds like the op's exerience is more like premonition rather than dejavu. As a side note,my personal experiences of dejavu feel completely different than episodes of precognition or clarvoiance .

I had many of deja-vu's while going through boot camp for the navy back in the early 90's, had deja-vu's ever since I moved to England and then left there, never though much about it, but knew there was a connection of the out of body experience and traveling into the future. My deja-vus would be many months before i would coin the term deja-vu, so the body can go beyond a day.

I too experience deja-vu.. I find I can have visions of things anywhere from seconds to years in advance. It may be that we experience things in past lives that are similar to this one or that perhaps we're merely more spiritually in tuned to flashes of the future

If we look at that train of thought, believing we experience things that we have before, but only remebering bits, this would mean that we live the same lives, over and over again wouldnt it?

*looks up* Well I did have a very eerie experience when I was a kid, around 12 yrs old I think and on a school trip to France (skiing trip) and on the way to the french Alps we we're travelling through a small french village and I swear I knew the place. I knew where the shops were, the street layout as well as were the local church was before we even got there. It was seriously spooky.

If we see things throughout our lives that we feel we have lived or been before, and we believe that these are glimpses of past lives,it would indicate that we live the same life over and over wouldnt it? If not, why?

*looks up*I'm not quite sure on that one. the culture and technology and people and places change over time so I don't think it indicated we live the same life every time. If that's what you ment.

According to my great grand father belief is that the way to know where you were born before your current life is to balance your chakura (sp?) then reflect on places and time periods you feel drawn to, or have a natural pull twards. *shrugs* tell me what you think.

Maybe your grandpa was able to access the Akashic records using the technique.

I dont think we live the same live over and over again either. This is one reason I dont not believe that Dejavu are glimpses of anything from the past..

I'd think fate. My great grandfather says no one finds peace till they have learned what they needed to on earth.

I think that though each life is new. (Lets face it no two time periods are exsactly the same) your exspirences and memories transfer over and just lay dormant untill they are awoken. Like in your trip to Europe. *Looks up*

Your grandpa,as well as others use many different techniques to access the Akashic record Sammantha.
And I do have to agree with him in that we must learn and progress with each reincarnation etc..

My thought on dejavu in a nutshell,(and this just going on my own researcdh and experience) is that
Dejavu is more of a product of natural brain processes, whether its ovelapping spots in "brain blueprints" or a signal being sent twice.Or even disease.
On the other hand,f I also strongly suspect that there is an Akashic record which exists in torsion fields surrounding the earth, and that humans are absolutely capable of accessing it. When we do,if skilled or practiced enough, we can learn of things in past our lives.
Moreso,I feel we get glimpses of past lives when we encounter things or situations that we find that we have an inherent knowledge of.

Was your grandpa a shaman or something Sammatha?

I have had this alot. More often than not it's something I remember from a dream that i had had once so it's like I'm dreaming about something that hasn't happened yet. Sometimes though I am somewhere and I feel I've been there before but I know I have never been there and I have not had a dream about it.

I remember once I had a dream about a church I was being taken to so I could meet someone I knew and i didn't think anything of it until I was doing some research and i found the exact same church. I don't know if you call that dejavu but it was pretty odd. I still find it shocking that i've had a dream about a place I've never been to but yet found while looking up something else.

My great grandfather is a 95 year old farmer, goddess bless him. He was born in Germany came to america as a child and was raised catholic. Surprise surprise, he believes in their god and his son Jesus, but also believes in reincarnation.

He would have a heart attack of he new I was pagan. Any way he has come up with his own conclusions of heaven and hell. He holds all the early "older people views.

I constantly have feelings of deja-vu. I believe this happens as we have lived previous lives and they somehow come together. I could be walking down a strange street and know my way around. I firmly believe deja-vu is due to past lives.

The children in my family are taught that what you do in your present life will affect who you are in the next. Ex: Woman beater comes back as a woman who ends up getting beaten. In our lessons we're told that your soul is always looking for a new life and never dies. It's "recycled" if you will. So the Deja Vu feeling is your soul recognizing a situation it's been in before that your current body hasn't been in yet.

Reading through some of the other posts I feel the need to answer Oceane's question asking whether or not those of us who believe in reincarnation being linked to Deja Vu means we live the same lives over and over.

My answer to that is no. I don't believe we live the same lives over and over. But think about your life now compared to some of your friends. You probably share some very similar and almost identical situations in life whether it be the way you grew up or maybe doing something like going on a trip. You and your friends aren't living the exact same life but with you know how they feel and are able to relate to the similarities. Everyone has overlapped like that at some point. I believe that's what happens with your soul. You're not living the same life, there are just similarities. That's why you don't "remember" everything and only bits and pieces because it's those bits that remind you of something else while the rest is to different to really register.

Thank you for addressing my question Tiger.I do like your explaination about the similar situations, yet different bodies and times. This I will certainly contemplate.
Your second post You see,I dont have many friends. And really, none of them have grown up or really, done what I have or still do.Yet there are aspects I will think about in this regard also.

Again,thank you.

Oh,I did however predict the birth of a baby this past week to the day..And it was 6 months early. Do you feel these type of things are related to reincarnation?

I don't think that's related to reincarnation so much as you just being really hypersensitive to the situation. Lots of animals have done the same thing. There have stories of dogs going nuts when their owners were to give birth too early and dolphins can tell as soon as a woman is pregnant. They're fascinated by it and keep poking her tummy. A dolphin who's been around pregnant females throughout the whole thing can be trained to watch for growth or detect something wrong in the woman's body. Their sonar is a million times better than our best ultrasounds. Humans don't have all the special abilities our other animal counterparts do but that doesn't mean we don't know what's going on sometimes. :)

Thats just it.I believe we do have those abilities as animals do.Even in spite of their exceptional hearing and smell etc..

Thing is,I didnt know the woman.Only her husband..fleetingly,I might add.

But in my research in working with animals, you might be pretty surprised at what I have observed..

Anyway,its another subject,for another day.

I just feel there are too many various physical causes to discount, when it comes to attributiing Deja-vu to some type of past memory from different lives. jmho.

I guess I don't really acknowledge it, though. I know it happens but I won't say it out loud and I won't ask the other person about it if there's someone else there. I just let it be. (:

I agree with Oceanne's and OceanSong's view that humans, like animals, can detect certain things. I believe it is done subconsciously through pheromones or memory triggers(like smell or texture) depending on the situation.
Also, some people are capable of "predicting" when the phone rings not because they are clarivoyant but rather because they can sense the waves connecting or the phone activating when it receives the proper signal to start ringing. i don't mean the actual ring but rather the preparation for it. Like the little "click" an old-fashioned alarm makes before it starts trilling to high heaven.

and I would suggest doing as much research on

feeling that I have been there or done this before.
It is a strange feeling.

Humas register impressions and images even before they are aware of what they have seen . The brain sends normally sends visual signals through at least two circuits. The signal moves from the retina through the brain to the visual cortex via different routes, which can cause Dejavu.

Kindof like a brain stutter.

Those who have Epilepsy often experience it just prior to a seizure too.

Those are just a couple of known causes.

I just cant quite go with the reincarnation/dejavu relation, because if I did,it would suggest we come back living the same life over and over.

Ahhh...Deja-Vu. Yes, will happen. Because there are 7 past until you reach your destination of perfection. Let me explain. Some believe, that you must go to 7 life before you reach that place called, heaven. Yes, sound impossible to believe to some, but, who are we to contradict what others thinks. What if they are right and we are wrong. So, if you go to a place and you feel that you was there, may be is true, you was there in a past life.

While I don't experience it on a regular basis, I have had deja-vu several times. I've heard it can be something from a past life that triggers it. I've heard it can be something or someone linked to that spot/circumstance, etc, that is trying to get through to you.
