Why is it that almost every new person to sign up on VR never reads the rules then get mad when you ask them to read them and remove certain pictures?
As a new member I understand . I read the rules but alot of people don't take the time.
I agree. maybe do a test on the rules for new members and they can't proceed unless they pass
Um........ then there would not be alot of members here if they did that most likely /:)
Simply the don't get in trouble to read the rules because they are lazy sods!
They just want to hop on and start talking and sharing their own info with the world, yet not willing to abide by the rules set out. When something is finally said, they become pissed and decided to pull out the freedom of speech BS. Which, freedom of speech is great, but remember just because one wants to harp about it, doesn't mean the Site Admin is willing to let you go off about it.

i think new people jst dnt really know what their doin on here just yet so i just think their lazy and cant be bothered to take the time 2 read anythin
I don't mean what they type or have to say...Im talking when you politly ask them to read the rules about the portfolio and or what type of pictures they use
Because wolfman...they don't need no stinkin' badges...OK!!!
Echo said this once, and I agree: it's a treat called ARROGANCE.
Or maybe some idiotic way to show attitude...My oppinion..don't want to offend anyone.
because people do not read.
my family has had a barber shop in the same location for over 30 years and people still walk in and say i didn't know there was a barber shop here.
people just have tunnel vision if you will, they just look in one direction and do not look past what is in front of them. this will not change
Hell this kind of thing never gets old. I don't know why they don't read the rules. They probrably WANT to get kicked out or piss of the admins.
its pure laziness...
why not put in like halfway put "to procceed click 'i do not accept' instead of 'i accept'
coz they sign up, create a profile and a portfolio and try to explore the site without reading the rules. i think its normal to be honest, its in the nature to be curious and explore instead ofreading the instructions first. not everyone is like that though and i am really happy to help people on here to find their way around the site.
yes helping is good but rating a portfolio with copyrighted pics and not saying anything but nice pics is wrong...being an Acolyte
Guess it's better to just do this then waste time on petty name calling.....
1. What is VampireRave.com?
VampireRave.com is the largest online database about everything vampire. We endeavor to catalog everything and anything about vampires.
2. Why do you do this?
The Vampire has always held my utmost fascination. Search as I might, I couldn't find a comprehensive online database about vampire fact, fiction, and lore. There are some very good websites out there (and some very poor ones too!), but no all-inclusive one-stop sites. So I made my own.

3. What does my 'Status' mean?
When you sign up for a free Vampire Rave account, the system tracks your site usage. As you spend more time here, your status increases. Special privileges are granted at higher status levels. Having a higher status means your ratings carry more weight throughout the site. Future site features are planned that will more heavily utilize the status system. You can read more about Status Levels here.
The top two positions, Master Vampire and The Prince, are administrator positions and users with these positions administer and maintain this website.

4. How does my status change?
Status advances are the result of a number of factors. The time you spend here, the pages you view, the things you rate, and the posts you make to the Forum are all taken into consideration. You can find out more about this subject here.
5. Why did my status go down?!?
Because a portion of your status is based on things you rate, as more profiles and vampire database listings are added, if you don't keep rating the new items your status will slowly decrease over time.

6. How do I block/unblock a user in the Message Center?
The block user link is easy to find, it's right under the delete message link. If you scroll to the bottom of the Message Center page, you will see a listing of all of your blocked users. You can also unblock users there.

7. Why don't I see message quoting when I am replying to a message?
Message quoting is automatic. When you reply to a message, the message you are replying to will be appended to the bottom of your reply. The system was designed this way to force consistency for all Vampire Rave members. Because of this, you should realize that if you hit reply, and then change the recipient on the composition screen, the new recipient will be quoted the message you hit reply from. If you want to send a message to a Vampire Rave member without quoting, click Send New Message, not reply.

8. Why is there a limit on the number of messages I can send?
In the past, there were no limits on the number of messages a member could send. Then the children started joining Vampire Rave en masse. A few of them found it funny to flood other members message box, so something had to be done. Now a new member must earn the right to send an unlimited number of messages.
The limits are as follow:
Whelp 5 messages
Mosquito 10 messages
Shadow 15 messages
Marplot or higher Unlimited
In actuality, these limits can be exceeded. These limits apply only to messages that are stored in the Vampire Rave database over the proceeding 24 hours. If the person you sent a message to deletes that message, it will not count against you for that day.
Any member who is caught message bombing another member will have their account suspended for infinity. If you are a victim of message bombing, do not delete the messages. Contact Cancer.

9. How do I create/change my avatar?
Avatar generation is automatic. It is created from the first (primary) picture in your profile, provided that picture is a jpeg. You can have a gif as your primary picture, but doing this will result in you not having an avatar (Some members may choose this option). Whenever you change your primary picture your avatar will change.

10. Why can't I post to the Forum?
To start a new thread, you must be at least level 3 (Shadow). To reply to a thread, you must be at least level 2 (Mosquito). These limitations are imposed so that new members will spend some time reading posts in the Forum, learn what is allowed, not allowed, and learn about the Forum's general tone.
11. Why can't I edit my Forum posts?
Only administrators can edit Forum posts. This is done to maintain the integrity of the Forum. If members were allowed to change their posts, threads would soon stop making sense.
12. Why was my post to the Forum deleted?
Administrators follow a set of content guidelines regarding Forum posts. Reasons for post deletion may include (but are not limited to):

18. So-and-So was mean to me! I want you to delete their account!
Administrators will not become involved in member disputes. If you find a member offensive, use your block button. All messages from the blocked user will be blocked, along with any comments they may leave on your Profile or Portfolio. Do not ask for a member to be deleted or reprimanded. You will be ignored if you ask.

19. What does UTC offset mean? (Edit your Profile page)
UTC stands for Universal Time Coordinate. Setting this value to your proper time zone will make all of the times on the site display in your local time. If you don't know your UTC offset it is easy to look up. Please do not ask an Administrator what your UTC offset is. The default setting is -5, which is the time zone for the US east coast.

23. Did you use a 'nuke' content management system for the design of this website?
No. I authored the entire site myself in PHP with a MySQL database. There are a few exceptions (The Moon section for example) where I used someone else's code. In these instances credit is given to the original author with a link. I have reviewed many of the 'nuke' packages out there, but never found one I truly liked. They are good for people without programming experience I supose. For Vampire Rave however, I needed a highly customized website. If you like my work and would like a quote for one of your projects please contact me.
