According to myth. A Vampire must drink the blood of the living to survive. Without it they will perish.
As a common disease Diabetes, the people it infects require insulin to survive. Without insulin these people will perish.
Vampires require fresh blood. The blood of the dead will not do. A Diabetic’s body requires insulin or sugar. Too much of either and they will come to a timely end.
So my question is… Is a Diabetic just a new breed of Vampire?
It is up to you to decide.
As a diabetic myself. i feel maybe we are an updated breed of vampire. Maybe not. who knows.
No, because vampirism isn't a physical condition. It stems from beyond the physical body, and therefore has nothing to do with the body's production of insulin. Diabetics simply require insulin because their bodies don't produce enough of it and they can't process sugar as a result, to the best of my knowledge.
This is an intresting theroy...but I'm not too sure how accurate it could be...I my self, am hypoglycemic..and if i take in too much or too little sugar..it can be harmful....but this is very intresting..I'd like to see the response.
Are all of the other blood disorders out there when a certain component cannot be produced effectively or at all new breeds of vampires then as well. I don't think so. It's spiritual, not physical.

I don't think so.
Vampirism can be a choice as well while disbetics is absolutely not.
However in a way it can be seen in that way if you see it from the perspective of; the need to feed.
Have to say I agree with LaMuerte and Mrd, whether Sanguine or Psi it is energy needed not a physical thing such as insulin.
your theory makes sense but no, insulin is nothing like blood, insulin from what i believe, doesnt sooth ur thrist jus eases pain
All cells of the body require sugar for energy..insulin is the catalyst that allows the glucose molecules to enter each cell...without the insulin the sugar(glucose) stays in the bloodstream, thus rendering it useless. I agree with the others that vampirism is beyond physical.
It seems entirely implausible in current theories.
Nice idea though.
