I would think that if you only rely on the Sun to live, you're pretty well screwed since you only get about an average of 12 hours per day of sunlight.

While it's easy to hide from the Sun, it's merely impossible to hide from night or any kind of darkness.

The only thing that comes to mind is Ra, the sun god.

Seems to me that this might not be about creatures who can exist ONLY in the sunlight, but who gain their power from the half of reality that is ruled by sunlight and day in general. There are all sort of elementals, fae, and other nature spirits who get their power from the bright side, not to mention things like angelic forces and such.... Might be something to think about while you are looking up a list.

One word: Superman! :D

Seriously, though, I would not hesitate to assume that all life gets its power at least in part from the Sun. Plants need sunlight to grow properly (at least a vast majority of them do). Even people need sunlight, vampire or not. It's well documented what lack of sunlight and outdoor activity can do to any individual whether they are more inclined towards night or not.

I don't know of many creatures of the Sun except for the Phoenix, which comes to mind because it's a fire creature. Then you have the zodiac sign Leo, whose ruling planet is the Sun (like me... which would seem odd for a vampire, but I like basking in sunlight a few minutes at a time).

I've now found a couple stories, 1 North American and 1 Egyptian, of birds of prey being born of the sun. And another about a bird who gave birth to the sun. THere seems to be an avian theme here... THings with wings. May be that sky factor...

Other than the creatures or birds described above, I have no other knowledge of a creature in the sunlight, except a few sea creatures maybe, or greek mythology. other than that night creatures to use the darkness to hunt.

if there are some they would have to be on the move all the time to keep up with the sun.. i dont think any thing could move that much and not rest.

I am unsure.. The idea of having to thrive in light constantly does seem.. strange. BUT! I could imagine a creature that has to have sunlight, not artificial, or they would die weither receiving all the other care nessicarry.. Mythilogically, and I'm sure there are cases like this scientificly.

OK, so some birds perhaps, nothing that has really been defined to any degree at all...other than that it seems the answer to your query is no. A stronger post would have started with information YOU had and asked people for more; not just a random thought. Thanks for the effort though. ;)
