As many may know from my posts I am a born skeptic! I do, however, try to keep an open mind. I will start with an explaination of my current situation.

My son, David, is a very down to earth kind of kid. He is also sometimes overly concerned with looking and acting "manly". He is 13, and at that age everything a boy does is under scrutiny from their peers, and anything out of the main stream for the group is called "gay" by the other boys.

We recently moved into an old house. After our first night there David told me "I think there is a ghost here. She was a little girl who lived in my room". He is not one to come up with fantasy. He really did not have much more to say on the subject, however. The following day, I noticed that in his bedroom the ceiling fan has pink globes on the lights. I assumed he would find this very "gay" and want them changed. I asked him if he wanted me to go to the home center and get him different color globes for the lights. He told me "No, the little ghost girl likes the pink globes, it makes her feel like it's still her room".

Well, I am totally freaked out by this. Normally if someone told me this story I would say that this kid is just pulling a joke. I know my son, however and this is NOT like him. I believe he has made contact with something. An the fact that he is totally calm about it, and willing to have pink lights in his room is also odd.

So, my question...Is there any way I can confirm this "presence". Is there something I can do to help remove some of my skepicism and be able to percieve this "ghost" myself?

Any insight or experience with similar instances would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that your son is in contact with a spirit.

The best thing that I could think of to prove that there is a spirit being in your house, you could have a psychic or a crew of ghost hunters come over and try to make contact with her.

try placing a tape recorder in his room at night then play it back in the morning you never know you might hear something ... good luck... IF you do there called evp's .. :)

A tape recorder is a good idea.

Also, you could use a video camera and you could leave it on during the night. You could have the camera pointed at where your son says that she shows up in his room the most.

You never know, you may end up seeing something.

The easiest and free way to do this would be to ask for help from your local Spiritualist Church.

A Spirit feeling 'at home' is one thing, but better if she was helped to go to her real home perhaps ?

Why not switch his room? I don;t mean this callously. If you have a guest room, then swap... Or maybe, you can switch with him and, at least, confirm for yourself whether you think anything is "off" with the room. See if there is any change in your son. I am a skeptic, too. This is the best I can can suggest before suggesting medical attention.

when dealing with ghosts and such then i wouldn't so much hold a seance, as i don't think they work......However if you want to, you can use some incense that gives ghosts the means to manipulate the smoke to appear corporeal....

you say you are a skeptic, but you are asking for affirmation that this is a manifestation of something spiritual rather than seek more mundane explanations. are you really a skeptic, or are you trying to deny a wish to believe?

Hmmm...A good question.

I am not a believer in spirits visiting living people. I just can't fathom an explaination, other than the possibility that he is just pulling a big goof on us. But the way he is acting I don't think he is trying to do this. He shows no fear or distress about this, has no problem being in the room so I see no reason to have him move out of it.

I guess I am just trying to find out i there are means that those who claim to "see" and communtcate with these spirits use. If I can attempt to use these methods to try to confirm the presence of the "spirit" I feel I am open minded enough to change my opinion. If, on the other hand, people tell me "You have to believe to see" then I guess I will just write the whole thing off as a prank.

Well...you can always call in a paranormal investigator. A good one that can be trusted of course. Or even a psychic/clairevoiant to inspect the place. Other than that, as far as off hand that I can think of, is to just trust your son and be supportive of him. Sometimes that's all it takes to not be a skeptic anymore and it may cause the girl to open up more to him and tell him why she is still there...or maybe even make an appearance to you. Anything is possible in that realm.
