I had never heard of them until you made this post.
I have read most of the information from the link you've provided to wikipedia, and it's really interesting.
I think as a group they studied religion, science, philosophy, art, and alchemy.
As for what they taught the new members, I am not sure, it says "It was constituted by group of scientists who began to hold regular meetings in an attempt to share and develop knowledge acquired by experimental investigation". So maybe they just discussed information they discovered by performing experiments other people were to afraid to try.
I would want to study with them, but I think I would decline the offer simply because living that big of a secret would be to much for me.
I read and studied their material back in the late seventies. Was going to discuss some of their ideas and teachings but haven't found anyone on the site that even mentioned them before. I have posted that they have a great practice for learning to remote view and astral travel. Not going to mention much about it because it seems daydreaming or sleeping is the same to many here as astral travel. I doubt real Occult training is going to be much better. But if anyone does want to get familiar with some inner stuff, check out their books.
i have not heard of them that i recall. . .i would like to study with any group that had actual knowledge witheld from society. . .there is a dvd called ANGELS AND DEMONS which talks about the Illuminati, Templar Knights and Masons. . .
The current of the Rosicrutions flows through much of the esoteric orders of the western world originating in the
late 19th. century ce. Much of their theology originated in ancient Egypt, and is based on Gnostic and Coptic
Christianity. Authur Edward Waite was a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn which has clear references
to the "Rosy Cross" in the liturgy and philosophy. Other members including McGregor Mathers, Authur Conan Doyle,
Dion Fortune, Alfred Butler Yeats, and Aleister Crowley.
The AMORC, or Ancient Mystical Order Rosicrusis, is the most visable presence of the Rosicrucians has a
headquarters in San Jose CA USA. They advertise in occult oriented periodicals for members. I have visited the
Museum which is operated by them on the large campus, in a building which has an Egyptian facade. Inside are rooms
displaying actual Egyptian ancient artifacts of great interest. Also a full scale ancient Egypyian tomb is
reproduced, you have to go down the steps into the crypt to enter, and the detail is beautiful and faithful to the
original design. They also accept membership applications, and you can purchase their books and periodicals in the
gift shop.
The Rosicrution Theatre was where Gerald Gardner met with others in the 1940s, who would later form his New Forest
Coven of witches in the later part of the decade. Gerald was also involved with Aleister Crowley, who he may have
never met face to face. Some of Geralds original Book of Shadows has a distinct touch of Crowley, as well as
Rosicrution and Golden Dawn liturgy and philosophy.
As far as joining the Rosicrutions, I did join in the early 1960s. They sent me some literature to study but it
seemed to give me the idea they believed in one god. And it would have cost more money to follow along through the
grades of the order. Of course if you believe in one god it may work for you.
I remember those courses. lol. Memories. The One G-d concept is a big help for Occult study. People for some reason feel uncomfortable with the idea because it was forced on them when they were a child. You need to get pass this fear. It helps because it gives you grounding. A base belief system that you/ or most are already familiar with. Pagans gods are either attributes of The One or Creator gods. You need to focus on one thing. And what one thing to focus on if not a G_d that represents everything. Its perfect. The big thing that I see for these books for the public is that they don't also teach the wisdom and inner understanding for that light bulb to click on. A handful of secret knowledge is not going to give you knowledge of the secret.
The light bulb has been on for years already, there is no need to enlighten me. Rosicrutian theology is not what I was looking for. Acceptance of anothers concept, I found to be limited. So I evolved, and so did my knowledge. The fact remains that Rosicrucian philosophy has influenced what many occult societies believe and practice.
I know very little about them...but they do have a very nice Egyptian museum in San Jose, Ca.
Actually I am a rosey croix member...Been a Freemason as well as the side chapter rosey croix for a couple of years now.
What sort of info are you looking for pertaining to the Masonic side?
In the 70s, my Mom joined them I believe. I know she was part of them but not sure exactly of the date. We had lots of literature around the house about it, but at the time, I was too young to really get it. We even went out to California for vacation and while in LA, we went to the Rosecrucian museum. We also went to the La Brea Tar Pits while out there.
At the Rosecrucian Museum, there was a ton of Egyptian statues and stuff and even a King Tut tomb, with all the gold all over it. It was really pretty and I had a picture of it for a long time.
I'm trying to dust off the cobwebs in my memory for this one.
It's been a long time since I looked at the Rosicucians beliefs.
About the same time I tried astral travel ( which I was no good at ) mind you I was alot younger and alot more impatient in those days lol
I wonder sometimes if the 'secrecy' concerning some beliefs does more harm than good ?
Does such secrecy serve to protect those who are deemed unready for such truths or is it a form of elitism ?
Rosicrucians has also been known to be a society of the mansonry.
I have read the book *Wisdom of the Mystic Masters* it tells all about their studies. Their knowledge of inner building. While the Masonries uesd it to help them in their outer bulidings.
Well, for the Freemasons...Rosey Croix included, secrecy was and still is a way to keep the nonmembers guessing a couple of things about the fraternity in general. If we do not think an individual to be a member, we use a simple test. Even though the secrets are a few words, does not mean we are an elitist group. Not by any means. I may speak of anything regarding any part of the fraternity and the ties thereof...Save for those few words.
Ahhh but those few words Soulshroud.....they make all the difference lol
Nah, not in my opinion...Just modes of recognition, thats it and thats all. But hey, just one individuals opinion.
As far as the rosey croix as compared to the rosicrucians, they are both one and the same...Save for one differance, the rosicrusians have been rumoured to be founded by the catholic church (not to throw names mind you), the rosey croix on the other hand is much like that of the Templar Knights and their orientation surrounding the Freemasons Scottish Rite...Also named after the Templars. A few believe the Templar Knights had direct influence over the founding of the Rosey Croix, in relation to the rosicrucians.
I do find it personally amusing when it comes to this inner or secret stuff. There are a few different ways of approaching it. For the purpose of the is thread lets say there is only two; Rosicrucian and Tantra. Google each and just do a very quick comparision of the two. Yep, Homework! Totally different but some part of them, be it only one, or a little of each, may help you. To focus only and hundred percent on one will not. Unless you are learning about that one study only. Things like that may lead to cults or nut cases. Its a pain to find out most of this truly hidden stuff by yourself but nobody else really has the complete package either. You do need to search and pick and choose. Then pull away and let it all sit.
The Rosicrucians did market many years ago and it was a big help for me. Back then there wasn't any fluff Wiccan books out there nor the major New Age book stores. You needed to dig. I have nothing bad to say about the group but there is much more info now available.
I agree, most of my knowledge pertaining to the rosey croix, as associated with the rosicrucians, does not come from Lodge...But rather from years of research and study. I don't just sit in lodge and discuss whathaveyou...I have been doing my own field work for quite some time now. The only secrets out there that are readily available to the naked eye, are the ones searched for from research and cross reference.
