Such a sad thing to see, the Harry prince library of magical literature is having it’s budget cut by 60%
It will be selling of it’s collection to support it’s self.

Thousands of pieces could be lost to the public forever, what do you think would be a good way to raise funds to save this important magic source of information?
Why would they want to do that?! Libaries are an amazing place! Let me know if I can help in any way, and Ill try!
Just want some good ideas to help save, please no money as I will spend it lol
I think it’s a crime for sure… they even have an original witches hammer book
Oi I know!! You can do car washes, door knock appeals and other such things, try by going around to local schools and appeal to them to use the students as volenteer support to recover the interest in it.
Not only will it help, but others may become more interested themselves, and fight for the fact that they shall be saving such an incredible amount of knowlegde that shall be lost without help!
I would say spread the words to people in your community that surrounds the library. For some people, library are the only ways they can come across books that they wish to read. Where else will students be able to go to conduct research for term papers and their master thesis?
Word of mouth is a very powerful tool...use it and let your voices be heard! :) Best of luck in your endeavors. :-D
Hmm ... well the easiest way would be a carnival or perhaps tv donation things.
Well let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I have reach to thousands of people on myspace.
We get donations from stores on merchandise and have 50-50 drawings, along with bake sales. We get local bands to perform free.
We make baskets with homemade cookies and candy and do 50-50's on them also.
Make part into a flea market and charge for the setting up of tables which would go to your cause.
Have food donations of hot dogs and whatever your food stores will donate and sell.
Just tossing around a couple of ideas.
the books will end up floating around, they won't be lost, not only one person can access the ones they buy...
buy the books and donate them back.....
what about a sponsored fun run?You could get loads of people to volenteer and every one could dress up in funny costumes, then the money from the sponsors would go to wards saving the Library.
its a historical landmark and they cant distroy that oh what a tradgedy around here we have fund raiser carnavels and have people sign a patician sorry my spelling sucks ugh the idea of those great books going to just any body
I think that it would a great idea to have a a fair of some sort mybe have some people doing readings and such.
Gather a lot of signatures and perhaps come up with some alternates for them instead of a 60% cut.
Are the workers in the liberary only paid employees or are there some voluntary workers?
If so, in order to save money have one or two paid and the rest will be volunter work.
Make a website where people can post donations and put even more signatures, enlighten more people about the benifits of having this piece of magical readings.
These are just some suggestions you could make as well.
Actually, the main post is a little off. Harry Price deposited his collection to Senate House Library in 1937 and the Library of Magical Literature was bequeathed to the University of London's Senate House Library on Price's death, which occurred in 1948.
The Senate House Library lost £1 million of funding in and is now threatened with closure or takeover unless the University of London college heads decide in December 2008 to increase their current funding.

I would suggest raffel tickets and stuff. raffel tickets always go around really well. then you could go around to the businesses around your town to ask to donate stuff for the raffel. :)
If this does nothing to help solve the problem, why even have the discussion? Any suggestions would be better sent to the library than generic inconsequential posts here.
Thank you for letting us know about this situation, and it is a tragedy to lose this resource.
