This was originally a topic made sometime last year that interested my greatly. Since it hasn't been remade in two months I'm putting this up.
Who has heard of these 'people'? They come in the form of children, usually. Around the teenage years, however their have been 'sightings' of adults as well.
These 'people' have completely black eyes. The accounts of people who encounter them state that they are filled with extreme fear and terror by the presence of them, suggesting that they are not at all 'people'. Although, this may just be due to black of their eyes.
This article at Paranormal.about.com has a few peoples accounts with them from places at rest stops as well as at their own homes.
You can find a bunch of information regarding them in the link as well. As to what they ask in regards to when found, how the dress and the like.
I've got to wonder what you all think about them?
Could they be spirits of evil who do indeed try to inflict harm across those who come across them? or could they simply be 'kind and gentle' creatures who are simply misunderstood?
What would you happen to do if you came across a being such as this?
well i believe that a persons eyes can be all black if possessed by a demon entity.
or the condition of the eyes may be because they are aliens.
and i know you can buy contacts to make your eyes look like this ...
if the person was sporting contacts i would be cool with it but demon or alien life form i think i would be a bit shaken by their appearance and of course it would also depend on their demeaner i mean not all deamons and aliens are hostile so not being a shallow person i could except this
I still get all discombobulated when I see a friends girl friend with her cat-eyes, or dragon eyes.. she also has a grafted tail mount. she is an high class exotic dancer though, she gets her contacts in her formula.. err perscription (sp)
Hmm i have met people with very very dark eyes but noy black eyes. Thats kinda eerie though. So would that say that there would no reflection of light then ?
Hmmm quite different indeed. As someone said, wouldn't that cause no light to be reflected in them? This doesn't pertain to this, but my dog has 2 colored eyes & lacks all the pigmentation in one of them. Wouldn't that also cause problems with sight?
Someone in here has an enormous amount of partners *blink*
Cant there be just a normal explination to this? Something in this persons body made him or her eys black for a period of time, hormones or something. Im no expert in human biology but cmon, theres got to be something that can explain this.
I am to assume you are meaning black eyes as in like the demons from supernatural ?
Andie -
If it were simply that easy, the people wouldn't have experienced such a strong feeling of fear, would they? That leads me, at least, to knowing they aren't human.
I don't think that they are of any harm. Some said said that there were movies and stories about children and adults like this. I don't think that the eyes are nothing more then contacts or a medical condition.
The fear could be associated with mind set of the person seeing the eyes or the spirit that is carried by the children or adult.
I have yet to run across anyone with black eyes, and my knowledge of them come from some spooky X Files shows. In the show the black eyes were indicative to some alien life force that took over people's bodies.
Could the reported cases of black eyed people really be aliens like X-Files depicted? Don't have any proof to suggest they are something else. I have seen documentaries on tattooing that showed how some people actually put dye into their eyes that cover the whites and pupil- but this is apparently cutting edge technology and wouldn't explain the historical sightings.
With all the logical answers that might result in black eyed people, I would still run away screaming like a little girl if I came across someone who had black eyes and made me feel afraid.
There's plenty in the world that we don't grasp or understand. I don't recall where i read it, but apparently our ancestors started all out with brown eyes & later it somehow developed into all the other colors. Who is to say that before the brown eyes, we didn't (our ancestors) start out with black eyes & progressed along the way? This is just me, but maybe it started out as black eyes before there was ever light of any kind. Just as a way to adjust to the dark. After things around the world progressed perhaps the body changed to adapt? Maybe the gene is still there for the black eyes & it occasionally appears down the line of a family? I am just rambling here so i will leave before i keep going

''Could the reported cases of black eyed people really be aliens like X-Files depicted?''
I think that would be a possibility. Since there is no concrete proof as to what aliens really look like, there's a high chance that the 'Black-Eyed Folk' are indeed aliens themselves.
There IS a genetic abnormality that causes a person's eye to appear black...aniridia. It makes the pupils appear to cover up the color. Could that be what people are seeing?
Nista -
But would that explain the fear people get when the black eyed people around around?
Possibly....
I know that when I see something that is REALLY different from what I am used to seeing..there can be a fear there.
Especially when it comes to eyes. Eyes they say are the windows to the soul. People use their eyes..and looking into others eyes to determine whether a person is good or bad, a danger or not...all sorts of things.
If I saw two big black peepers staring at me...I'd freak a little regardless of explanation.
Hmm ... it's possible that might explain it.
But what about what this man was feeling?
[taken from the first link]
"I instantly felt a terrible sense of dread, as though there was something deeply unnatural about her," Chris says. "The eyes ... were completely black. I saw no color whatsoever, and no pupils. I felt an extremely strong need to get away from her as quickly as possible, as there was something quietly threatening about her. Her stare was devoid of any emotion other than something very cold and disconnected."
It's like they're a spirit of fear or so.
True..and it could be that there's something supernatural about them.
I just wonder if maybe he subconsciously was more affected simply by the sight of such a thing.
Like you know how what can freak out one person can invoke an entirely different response in another? Or how one person can believe in ghosts and think that the noises they hear are due to haunting..while another can hear the same noise and think," My house is settling."
That's definitely a possibility.
What your saying kind of goes with the saying 'afraid of what they don't understand', does it not?
Yeah, it totally could.
Or it could be just a natural reaction to the sight of it.
You can explain to me that clowns are for the most part good people and exist for the amusement of others...and I can know that in my intellect and still be afraid of them.
So it could be a phobia so to speak?
Even if you know there is nothing to be afraid of you still are?
In some instances maybe it could be phobia...but probably not in the instance you linked.
I think that people who believe heavily in the supernatural tend to get a supernatural vibe from the unexplained first...and then research other options second. Whereas someone in that man's position of a completely different mindset who didn't believe in the supernatural might have reacted totally differently because they were not as open to the possibility of it. His fear could have been because of that maybe.
*and yes, I have a small fear of clowns, however irrational it may be:P
♦ ''I think that people who believe heavily in the supernatural tend to get a supernatural vibe from the unexplained first ... and then research other options second.''
What do you think one who gets supernatural vibes would come up with for research into the Black-Eyed people? If not the medical reason you said earlier.
♦ ''Whereas someone in that man's position of a completely different mindset who didn't believe in the supernatural might have reacted totally differently because they were not as open to the possibility of it. His fear could have been because of that maybe''
So it's possible he reacted the way he did because his mind was closed to the possibility of it being supernatural?
"What do you think one who gets supernatural vibes would come up with for research into the Black-Eyed people? If not the medical reason you said earlier."
If I had what I considered a supernatural experience and, after researching it, couldn't accept the possible medical reason because of how intensely I felt the experience..I would seek out literature documenting the experiences of other people and see if there was another possibility that I would accept more willingly to explain why I felt such an intense fear. The possibility of demonic possession perhaps or people who had the absence of a soul...I would tend to believe those easier than the medical answer.
"So it's possible he reacted the way he did because his mind was closed to the possibility of it being supernatural?"
The man who was close minded to the idea of supernatural occurrence would probably accept the possible medical reason as what was in fact the cause of the Black-Eyed people. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't send chills down his back to SEE such a thing...but he might not explore the supernatural options because he was satisfied with the medical possibility.
''If I had what I considered a supernatural experience and, after researching it, couldn't accept the possible medical reason because of how intensely I felt the experience..I would seek out literature documenting the experiences of other people and see if there was another possibility that I would accept more willingly to explain why I felt such an intense fear. The possibility of demonic possession perhaps or people who had the absence of a soul...I would tend to believe those easier than the medical answer.''
But what if you didn't know it was paranormal? Would you still research to see what other answers you could find?
''That doesn't mean that it wouldn't send chills down his back to SEE such a thing...but he might not explore the supernatural options because he was satisfied with the medical possibility.''
I'd have to agree. Regardless of whether not they believed in the paranormal it would still scare all hell out of them.
If I didn't know it was paranormal I would try to seek out all possible explanations..both paranormal and scientific. If I had a tendency to believe very heavily in the paranormal though I might not accept the simplistic answer of genetic abnormality...especially if my reaction to it was a very intense emotion such as extreme fear or terror.
I'm not sure if at that point though I would really be searching for an explanation of what is...or an explanation for my reaction.
So would the non-belief in the genetic mutation answer make you want to believe more in the supernatural?
I have had some friends freak out because 6 times in my life they all said that my eyes were completly black. with no emotion, or reflection at all. At those moments I was mad, and that is all I really rember.
I never rember yelling, or talking in a stragne language like they said. They said my skin was very pale, and my eyes cold, black, emotionless, and no reflection. I do rember washing my face, and then resting for a little bit before going home. That is all I know.
Though if you have any questions I can try to answer them, because over time you start to rember a little, but not that much.
I think it would be more your inclination to believe in a more supernatural explanation that would cause you to disregard the scientific answer;)
I'd figure so.
Hmm ... I'd recon a run in with one of the black eyed folk could likely shake the belief of a non believe. Maybe?
I think were it me in the same situation...I would believe that it was the scientifically explained genetic abnormality.
But in the back of my mind...I would wonder if I were being too accepting of scientific reasoning.
And either way...it would still freak me out.
Yeah, I believe there would be.
The only thing that would remove that shadow would be for a Black-Eyed person to allow us to perform tests on them and cut into things and determine concretely what the deal was.
xnarconiax -
What would be interesting about it exactly?
I would imagine a lot of people who have witness the paranormal to have doubts of what they say merely because they have no means to process something that is beyond the ordinary.
Nista -
Do you think the 'creature' so to speak, would allow such a thing? Or would if have to be done by force?
Well, I can't speak for the creature.
I know that were you to ask me if you could conduct tests on me for genetic abnormality I would allow you to...unless you were going to cut into me...in which case forget it.
Would that maybe help to determine whether the phenomenon is scientifically explained or paranormal?
I would assume that a paranormal occurrence would not want tests conducted on it. If it were not one of us I would think that it would have a fear or distrust just as we would of it.
If it were a person having a genetic abnormality you would think that you could simply ask them, "Hey...why in hell are your eyes black like that?"
I don't think one of the black eyed people would let you.
I want to ask a few questions.
If you were to see on do you think you be able to turn around and walk away, or ask a question? If other people can't. Why do you think they are not human? Their pupils might be dilated, or they might be sick, or their eyes might be a very dark brown that looks black.
There are severl explanatins for this. It is just that most people act and think out of fear. So they start thinking that there is a alien, or something supernatural. You never know what is possible untill it is proven or shown.
If that particular thing is afraid it would not show you anything, or might have a air of anger or power around it. The people aroud it might be able to sense it, but not know what it is therefore they fear it. You never know what is possible.
Well LunaObscura I think it would be interesting because I would like to get to know what it is, or causes it. I would not want to hurt it though, so therefore I would get to know it or the person that is like that. After I have become a friend ask to see if they would let us try to find more about them.
There is the fact of what I posted the very first time though. So I would like to know more.
Nista-
♦ ''Well, I can't speak for the creature.''
Indeed. However, what I meant was by how it's been described, causing complete fear in the people around them, would they let people do it? Rather, would someone be able to stand being around it long enough to take a test?
xnarconiax -
♦ ''If you were to see on do you think you be able to turn around and walk away, or ask a question?''
Honestly I'd probably be too scared. If something like that can produce such a fear it shakes a person to the core, there is no way I'd stay around it.
♦ ''Why do you think they are not human? Their pupils might be dilated, or they might be sick, or their eyes might be a very dark brown that looks black.''
Because the people who have encountered them have described the fear that overcomes them just being in their presence. Along with the fact all seemed to want the same thing, it's doubtful they're just people with genetic disorders.
♦ ''I think it would be interesting because I would like to get to know what it is, or causes it. I would not want to hurt it though, so therefore I would get to know it or the person that is like that. After I have become a friend ask to see if they would let us try to find more about them.''
'''If you were to see on do you think you be able to turn around and walk away, or ask a question?''
I am very sure that I could. The reason why is because every body is like that around my father. They freze up, or get afraid, or can't stand to be anywhere near him. I have seen many things in my life. I know all most everything is possible. I have also been through a lot, and surived somethings you would not think possible.
I was born 2 month early. When I was 6 lighting hit the ground in front of me and then bounced back up. Then it hit my heart. The doctors say that I would not make it, but here I am. The doctors have doubted me on several things, yet I prove them wrong. So there is always a few people that are able to do things that others can't do.
I don't think it would let us conduct experiments on it, no. I would think that it would be afraid..or angered and disoriented by our fear of it.
I'll conduct the experiments if you catch it and hold it down.
xnarconiax -
''I am very sure that I could. The reason why is because every body is like that around my father. They freze up, or get afraid, or can't stand to be anywhere near him.''
Ahh, but what if the 'creatures' presence is much more frightening than that? I think that it's one of those 'actually happened to' things to be certain to know.
Nista -
''I don't think it would let us conduct experiments on it, no. I would think that it would be afraid..or angered and disoriented by our fear of it.''
What if they know we fear them and they use it to their advantage?
Some people can control their emotins ver well, and don't let things get to them. I am like that. What if the creature is just afraid? What if people just fear it because they don't know what it is, or the creature might trigure something in the person's head? I don't doubt myself, and I never will. I like to help, and so if the creature needs help then I would walk up to it and talk to it and help it.
I can see that.
The best defense is a good offense. It could be that they emit some sort of pheromone that induces fear. What a person feels when exposed to them could be completely created by the black-eyed person.
I wouldn't doubt such a thing. If they did or do indeed have a quality like that no doubt they'd have no opposition.
Leads one to wonder what a defense against such a thing would be?
I'm not sure.
You'd think that if it was some sort of chemical that was emitted then some sort of body protection could be warn to ward off the effects.
However if it was induced by signals to the mind that would be something entirely different. It might come down to individual ability to overpower...or it might be something that would be impossible for us to overcome.
If it were mind based I think that very few in this day and age would probably be able to ward it off. It's possible in all of the human mind which people don't use there could be something to help the progress of shielding against it.
Perhaps were we exposed to more of them our minds would adapt and we would end up evolving to utilize more of our brain at a time.
Which really opens up an entire window of thought. What if the supernatural things that we come in contact with such as the black-eyed people play a key role in our evolution over the next hundreds of years?
I'd have to say if we were indeed exposed to them more we'd build up a resistance like we would to a virus. But as a population as a whole we'd need be exposed to them. Which would mean millions if not billions of those things being around.
Although...if it was something that we built a genetic resistance to wouldn't we pass it to our children? Eventually it would no longer be an issue..however that would be something that would take a very long time to secure by that method.
Nista -
Yes, humans would end up passing it on to their children through genetics. Eventually, as you said, the problem would be resolved. But alas we cannot forget the fact the creatures might too evolve.
True..which creates yet a whole separate cycle of possibilities.
I think it would end up being who evolved the fastest and forced the other one out.
Take away any creature's defense and it becomes an easy target. So I wonder who would win in that instance.
Most humans show fear around things they can't explain. They also act out a fear as well.
Either that or it would be a constant flux of one side taking down the otherside then getting taken down itself. A stalemate in chess as it were.
True..that could also be.
In which case do you think we would need to consider that being a predator of humanity or would we just be bystanders in it's existence?
Why can't people just live in peace with them, unless they do something wrong.
Nista -
We'd probably have to consider it a predator or harm to the race and do something to prevent it from doing harm. If not it's possible that the black eyed people could pose a serious endanger to our existance.
xnarconiax -
Because people fear what they don't understand. It's as simple as that. People try to get rid of what they fear.
Then it is obvious that even though you have never met one you are afraid, and you are thinking out of fear. Have you ever thought that they put out whatever they can just to protect themselves?
I think that at the very least we'd have to consider them a potential threat.
Anything that has the ability to control our minds that we do not have control of or a choice in could in fact be a predator.
I liken it to the idea of the bear that by himself poses no threat but let loose in an elementary school would be a danger.
dabbler -
Just trying to get through all the possibilities. =] The last thread did not do a good job of doing so.
I think that some people got contacts that made their eyes black, and then some people who gat scared easy saw them and reported it to the news, or police. Because if it was something really important or a serious threat they would be taken care of.
Speculation is, after all, all you can really do when it comes to anything supernatural that cannot 100% be explained.
I think it's nice to think about what would happen if our speculation is correct. You never know when you might be called upon to have that knowledge.
We are unsure of what the black-eyed people are. Supposing they are a just an example of genetic defect then none of this applies.
But what if they are in fact a supernatural being. There has to be a reason why they invoke such fear just by existing..especially in someone who is prone to accepting supernatural phenomenon.
Coming up with potential reasons why they would be able to cause this is interesting..as it is just as interesting to follow the train of thought into others that still pertain to the topic.
My eyes go completely black , scares the hell out of people. Normaly they are blue. When really mad or way to much sugar.
gealachlass...have you ever been to the doctor for that and if so what were their findings?
Odd.
It's rediculous I even need to say this, but any post not relivant to the topic will be deleted.
The general discussion is able to have supernatural discussed in it. =] Thanks.
Its ok, the pupils just open wide when I'm excited. Doctor said ok if all else is fine. Lay off all the sugar.
Ok. So lets say one came up to you and said that you could do test on it, but not hurt it.
LOL..awesome.
Then I will not have to consider you a predator.
However on the other side of the coin...I can't ask to dissect your eyeballs now.
damn it.
xnarconiax -
You never know, it may have a high resistance to pain. You wouldn't know where to stop in testing.
That is true. What would you say if I said that I knew what truly happened? That I knew if they were truly real where to find one, and or if they are fake who did the prank.
Also I think it might be something that some certain people might hae sometimes. Like with extreme anger, or any extreme emotions. Because when my mom gets very mad her eyes change black, and most people then get afraid. The rest of the family leave because they say the don't want to die, but I stay and calm her down. That is why I said earlier that I would be able to talk to one. Because the fact my mom might be one, or even me.
Simple. I'd ask for proof.
It would be impossible to locate every one of these beings [if so they exist] to prove if they're real or a hoax.
Right..because don't forget that there is a very real genetic abnormality that causes the blackening of the eyes.
So without testing for variance amongst different subjects you couldn't really prove that the idea of the black eyed people as a supernatural being is false.
First, I can't say whether or not they exist. I haven't seen them, nor have I seen evidence of them. And just like many other things in this world, until we've been everywhere, and seen everything, there is no way to prove that they don't. So, yeah, they could exist.
It is possible that people were just af4raid by their eyes. However, the circumstances of some of the stories make it seem like they're malevolent. What kind of a kid shows up in the middle of the night at a strangers house asking for admittance?
Indeed, Nista. And thus being you run the possibility of insulting those with the genetic condition.
Correct...
Attacking at people trying to perform experiments on them because we're searching for proof that they are supernatural beings is probably not a good way to make friends lol
You could always try to explain your reasoning as for 'the greater good'.
Eh, but then we'd leave a window wide open to interpret laws as we wished it.
What would be optimal would be if we could find a dead one;)
To be rather blunt ... making a dead one to test on would be easier than finding one ... I feel horrible lol.
You should, ya filthy murderer.
I jest.
Truly though, unless we could find a specimen of each we wouldn't have any way of comparison...and probably "making a dead one" would sort of be akin to what happened with the witch trials in Salem.
You can't kill a person legally for scientific purposes..even if they do have spooky black eyes.
Indeed.
Although it would take the luckiest person alive to find a specimen willing to be tested, it would be worth it and much more ethical.
The luckiest person alive would find a dead one.
As for the scientific reason for their existence, since it's medically proven to exist we would have much better luck finding a specimen as there is medical documentation about that condition.
True .. plus they who find the specimen would become very rich.
Truth!
I honestly still find myself contemplating the idea that they have the potential to control our fear. Imagine what could be shifted on this earth with the power to do so...especially in the hands of a being whose purpose may not be noble.
The reason I suggest that their intentions would be bad is because I can't imagine invoking fear as a harmless quality.
Let's not forget the fact that it can't simply be a self-defense mechanism. No one could do that. Resist the power.
Well it could start as a defense mechanism but like we said before...the best defense is a good offense.
For that matter...earlier we were talking about the idea that we would evolve to combat one another. Any evolution of their already advanced ability to control emotion could be used to destroy as well as defend.
As I meant that being all it is. It could have started out that way, but probably not last so.
True, which is why it would only need be an ... annihilation, so to speak.
I would have to wonder..if what we have come upon ended up being factual..what part of their being would control emotion?
Would it be their minds? Would what they are using to control us be the black eyes that make them stand apart from us?
I know I suggested possibly a pheromone earlier but there are other possibilities.
I'd have to figure it's based in their minds but channelled through their eyes that control the emotion of others.
Do you suppose that their true shape is that of a human being or do you suppose they morph to fit in with us..their only difference being that of their eyes.
Which would make sense since most humans believe on some level that the eyes are the windows to the insides..and therefore their insides would not have the same composure as ours.
I think it's a morphed form. Their way of trying to fit in.
Trying emphasized.
Wouldn't that make sense?
Yes it would. Especially with how little attention people pay to detail.
Eyes are a small part of the body. They can be concealed with sunglasses.
A 7 foot blob of green goo would maybe catch the attention of others.
Indeed. Plus people can have great excuses for covering up their eyes. As in sensitivity and such.
And the fact that there is indeed a scientific reasoning for someone to have black eyes helps their cause as, however rare, people know it exists..which means that we will never be sure unless we are lucky enough to come across one and experiment on it.
