Has anyone ever seen something of nature that's just made them stop and stare?
I remember coming back on a train with my wonderful girlfriend. when she told me to look out the opposite window near some writing. I was looking, i looked at her, then looked back. Then we hit an open bit of sky. There it was
A Yellow moon... we watched it for a bit. then the blackest cloud creeped over it and we both just gasped, then kissed :)
Has anyone else ever had anything like this? not necesarily with a loved one, maybe just on your own?
Quite frequently..... The sunrise at the riverfront. Full moon at my parent's house out in the country. The night sky out there for that matter. Biggest things I miss about living out there. Rafting on the New River Gorge in WV had some breathtaking sights as well, in between me almost drowining.
stars are very pretty... but i've never watched a sunrise or sunset... i did watch a sun nearly set and turn pink... that was beautiful.
i once remember i was washing stone flags i think and i sprayed into the air with the high pressure hose, it created a circular rainbow... which was quite pretty. But what i really want to see is one of those at a waterfall...
someday eh?
You just reminded me of another moment of beautiful sight-seeing, going to Mammoth Cave. There is an extremely large "waterfall" constructed of stalagmites and stalagtites around 200 feet high. Absolutely amazing.
I think the most fascinating and beautiful place that I ever visited is Petra in Jordan. In ancient civilization they carved their homes and temples out of a red rock face. I just stood gazing on it, with awe and wonder. It is so beautiful.
I have been lucky to have spent much time amongst nature’s splendor and have bared witness to more beauty then I can recall. Reminiscent of the sun nestling behind prodigious whitened hilltops as it falls to sleep to our eye, cascading of waterfalls, and the thin haze of mist shadowing it from a distance. And only upon approaching nearer do you see sight of its true beauty. The simplicity of a meadow where blades of grass blow in the wind though dancing with one another leaving impression of waves like that of aquatic arouse. I feel it’s a combination of things, the sight of the beauty you are witnessing, the scent you breath and that combs through your hair and the feeling of inspiring awe that you are present and experiencing it. Though there is nothing like the sight from atop of a mountain, to see what few have seen and to share in what the mountain has seen since its birth, is truly breathtaking.
hmmm....I wish I could enjoy the wonder of such beauty. Just to walk outside and see the endless emerald fields...to the the, os so elegant, of the pure hues of the gently blowing flowers...but I am a prisoner in my own home....I never have a chance to step outside and just try to capture the breath-taking landscape in my drawing pad. It's death if you ask me...to know beauty is out there, and never have a chance to enjoy it.
I think the overwhelming beauty of nature are humans. human interactions leave me awe struck. The soft caress of a man, the laughter of a child, the serene advice of the elderly. Our ability to love and cherish one another sets us apart from all of the other beauties of nature. I am not denouncing the fact that wild life has simplistic beauty or that tropical life has scenic beauty, but the emotional beauty of humanity surpasses it all.
just my opinion . I might get struck for this one :o/
Deity I think thats lovely ;-)
Gorey, I remember that day so well, and your right, it was absolutely beautiful.
You have never seen a sunset? Well, I obviously live on the top floor of my building for a reason, we'd get an excellent view. x
Driving in the mountains of Spanish Fork Utah and coming around a corner to see an absolute crystal blue lake with the mountain above it reflected so clearly inside the lake you couldn't be sure if it was real...
I've been fortunate to see the moonlight filter through the trees in the mountains. I walked a little from the warm campfire to lay in the grass soaking up the moonlight like a happy cat sunbathing. It was soooo wonderful.
the most incredible thing for me is underwater life...its amazing how beautiful it is, although it scares me a bit, i find it incredibly amazing. also rocky beaches i find extremely gorgeous, as the waves hit the reefs and the water splashes everything, especially at night under a full moon...or during stormy weather, i love it. ive been fortunate to experience the wrath of nature on that scenery....its amazing although dangerous...but what isnt dangerous?...gotta take risks....;)
also, i can agree with Deity on the human interaction comment, on the way she expresses herself...although i dont find it as beautiful as nature...maybe if i ever get to fall in love or something i can see her point of view...but meanwhile...humanity is just not so amazing for me...that chemical reaction called love is just a passing thing...can falter and fade away....while nature will always be there...soothing and ailing the soul's pain, for that is what i feel when i'm in its turf.
when i mention love as an interaction, it doesnt necessarily have to be in a romantic setting. This can be expressed in several arenas-- motherly love, brotherly love, friendship, etc.
It is the initial pursuit of getting to know people and the discovery of others that is so beautiful.
I agree with Deity. Human passion and real true passion is amazing to watch. To see a child that has not seen a parent in awhile there face just glows with a light. The emotion strong enough you could drink it from the air. maybe I'm just weird...
i guess i can see your point...a mother's love, a father's love....child's love...all unconditional love...i can agree
^_^
i agree with you...its not romantic love necessarily, but universal love and our spirits dancing with each other. if you can, see each other as energy, advancing and receeding, swirling in and out of each other, becoming brighter and fading a bit....this is life and its quite lovely.
storms always make me stop what i'm doing, i love just sitting out in them....
but the other day, when i was watching a storm move across in the distance and the sun was setting, the way the light hit the clouds and stuff was just awesome!!!!!! should taken a picture
i have pics in my portfolio of nature... couple of sunrise ones and stuff....
Well you can type Liverpool into a search engine and your guaranteed to get a picture of Liverpool waterfront with the Liver building.
This has a dock area which at sunset could make you smile like an idot 4 no reason you just feel cool though and once I was skating there 6yrs ago and got caught in a thunderstorm and well it was wierdly magical/enchanting
that was an experience and a half Chaos! Bet it was the best thing since sliced bread!
