The wyvern is a creature of legend, and a cousin to the dragon. Wyverns are winged, serpent-like creatures. Unlike dragons, wyverns have only two legs, a barbed tail, and cannot breathe fire. Wyverns are smaller than dragons
Does anyone know anything about Wyverne?
A wyvern or wivern (derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for serpent, and pronounced /wаɪvən/) is a legendary winged reptilian creature often found in mediaeval heraldry. Its usual blazon is statant (standing). Its origin is in Europe.
The name "wyvern" derived from the Saxon word Wivere, which means "serpent". The French wyvern is known as the Vouivre. Both words are etymologically related to viper.
The wyvern is regarded as a type of dragon. Depictions often include two legs and two wings.[1] Sometimes there are eagle's claws on the wingtips. The rest of its appearance can vary, such as appearing with a tail spade or with a serpent-like tail.
The wyvern has a similar appearance to another mythical creature, the cockatrice.

This may seem irrelevant to fact but there is a book..a series... of which a wyvern is the main charicter. She is the daughter of a cobra and falcon
The Wyvern is a dragon and there are many types of dragons and not all that look like the more familiar Western types of dragons depicted in most movies. Not all are fire breathing either.
On this topic, I would suggest reading the Kiesha'Ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. They are about shape shifters, and how two opposing clans can come together. Serpents and Avians, making Wyverns, if you will, mixed breeds. It's a great series.
i am not very familiar with this creature, though to me it sounds like a dragon from the viking era.
a wyvern is sort of a dragon... it's a serpent-type creature with wings... so it could possibly be related to a dragon.
Would a wyvern and a dragon be able to reproduce with one another? Or are they like the relationship between a monkey and a human?
mytholical creatures. yet depicted on pots and drawings of yester years.
nothing else.
I think you pretty much got the most important parts there...with the possible exception that they are associated with War. Kind of a symbol for it.
They were a real pain in the ass when I had to fight them back when I played D&D LOL
The book "Hatching Magic" [[I misremember the author's name, sorry]] is about a wyvern found in modern times and a rift between two times. It's actually quite interesting. Involves a lot of chocolate at one point...
Hatching Magic by Ann Downer , it is a good book.
Man someone mentioned D&D, boy those days.
mythical monster and mythical games...

There are tons of video games that feature the Wyvern one game Is final fantasyXII. That game also has other creatures of myths. but I think this was allready posted so sorry if i post it agin.
A wyvern or wivern (pronounced /wаɪvərn/) is a legendary winged reptilian creature with two legs often found in mediaeval heraldry. The word is derived from Middle English wyvere, from Old North French wivre "viper". [1] The wyvern is regarded as a type of dragon. Wyverns are normally shown as dragons with two legs and two wings. Interesting read and glad you put this thread together, never heard of a wyvern as a creature although in the UK Wyvern is a common word used in Wiltshire mainly Swindon Town who has the Wyvern Theatre.
