What are your opinions on this? I've looked into it a bit. Though I'm not sure if its really legit. What do you all think of it?

my actual thoughts on this are a group of people followed a quote from L.Ron. Hubbard, if you wanna make a lot of money, start a religion
I looked into it long ago in an earlier incarnation.....and like scientology, you have to pay to actually learn anything about them

Temple of the Vampire is about spiritual and intellectual growth. Not starting a religion or making money. In any good organization you will have at least membership fees. In the Temple of the Vampire, you have the cost of the Vampire Bible, which by the way is a very interesting read to say the least. I'm not a follower, but I have looked into their teachings and learned some.

I have worked to help a few people to get out of their structure, only to have them end up sticking with it, despite the problems it caused them. When they choose it, they are actually formidable in not only the psychological aspects but also in their usages of energy manipulation. Great exercise to fight with them.

Think of it like a pyramid, where power is up at the top, and everyone less then the top is meant for the sustaining of the top, all works, and things produced go to them, including money.

Why do I have to buy a book to find out more?

The Vampire Bible describes the essence of our practice and details the method of Awakening as a Vampire yourself. It simply is not possible to understand or practice Vampirism without this information and without this Connection to the Temple.

One of the goals of the Temple is to be monetary or financially sound. Its goal for its members is to have a good life, and have money and everything else they may need. I'm not rich, so I see where you would see thats its all about money, but if you keep reading and studying, its really worth the money you pay.

I like the order of set, looked into joining their ranks a few years back, but other complications arose, If you produce any work then you have to do so under the Temple of set, you cant do it your own.

I reply:

I politely disagree. The Vampire Bible describes the essence of practice and details the method of a Vampire's Awakening from the perspective of a specific group, not all affected by vampirism. It simple IS possible to understand and practice Vampirism without this information and without the connection to the Temple. As someone who awakened on her own and found her information through groups such as The Vampire Church (a damn good organization that does not charge for entrance, knowledge, or camraderie), I found my path without paying money or connecting to the Temple.

While quite a few find the Temple to be beneficial on their journey, I know more that do not.

I've looked over the site and it does seem like the focus is to get you to purchase the Vampire bible. That seems to be the first step anyway, in the organization, or as stated on the website, "your passport into the world of the Vampire." After that, there seem to be various other books, such as Revelations, to give you even more indept answers. According to the website, membership is $10. per month.

Like anything else, this may be great for some, and not of interest to others.

I did notice though, that for a bible, it's certainly not very big. It is stated on the website:

"In less than fifty pages of condensed and clear language you will learn the essentials of our way of life."

I can assure you that there "vampire bible" is a waste of webspace. It consists of mostly poems, its not really based on anything except someones idea of vampirism. If you use UTorrent you can get a copy from there. It made me laugh when i read it, i think one of the first lines from there bible is
"I am a vampire and i worship my ego"
There are 6 billion people on this earth, half of them also worship there own ego's, but they dont write a book about themselfs do they??
Lol, overall - Dont reccomend them. You choice. Best of luck.

From the link posted above me:

I believe rules are necessary for survival and survival of others. I used the number 6 because it is Lilith's number; besides belief systems have there commandments and theses are mine:

1. You should not WASTE (food or resources)...
2. You should not kill with out a legitimate reason (like food)...
3. You should not STEAL from KIN or family (stealing from others should be for necessities)...
4. You should not HARM KIN or the innocent with out a legitimate reason...
5. You should not PUSH you beliefs or anything on others...
6. You should not HARM or Destroy nature with out a legitimate reason or the natural balance of life...

LMFAO! Note number 5 - What a contradiction XD
That site needs alot of work. Looks like its ass was just dragged out of the 90's.

Strigoi Vii: http://www.strigoivii.org and http://strigoivii.ning.com

TempleUVUP at http://templeuvup.org and http://templeuvup.ning.com

Temple of Set at http://www.xeper.org

I won't say anything about the Temple of the UVUP as I know the owner other than he means well. The TOV is more of a cult. They are not the only one with religious status. Some do it for tax benefits and others for spiritual purposes. This organization considers humanity nothing more than cattle. It is very radical and not representative of the community at large. Generally they are not put down exactly but more or less ignored to a degree. They don't charge much for their Bible which applies ONLY to them and no other part of the community. I would assume it covers the cost of putting it together and if you do pay the fee for it, it would seem you would be something more than just a curious person passing through. They have a belief system and that is all it is and you either believe their view or you don't. I personally do not but that is nothing more than my opinion. Even Michelle Belanger's group has the religion status for tax benefits and I am sure there are a number of others.

Not all vampirics have awakenings as described. Some have an awareness from small but won't call it vampirism. Hard to explain. It is easier to recognize in the last two decades due to the ability to connect via the internet or if you live in a place like New Orleans or New York City. It won't generally be recognized because of an attraction to blood since those people are a minority in the subculture. There are always exceptions to the rule. Older people went in various directions.

These guys do not believe in blood drinking and if you do...you cannot be a member of that organization. You are considered inferior and unevolved. They feed on the astral and they have no qualms to attack psychically provided one believes this is possible. I will make no statements either way here as far as my own beliefs in this area.

People think everyone is alike and we all believe the same things and do the same things but we don't. Their are sects within the culture and always have been. We are a bickering lot, lol.

I haven't looked at their website in a long time because I have no interest in their organization but I do have their Bible and it could have been revised for all I know but this was their creed which may be up on the site, I don't know and don't plan to look. It also could have been revised by now.

I am a Vampire
I worship my ego and I worship my life, for I am the only God that is.
I am proud that I am a predatory animal and I honor my animal instincts.
I exalt my rational mind and hold no belief that is in defiance of reason
I recognize the difference between the worlds of truth and fantasy
I acknowledge the fact that survival is the highest law
I acknowledge the Powers of Darkness to be hidden natural laws through which I work my magic
I know that my beliefs in Ritual are fantasy but the magic is real, and I respect and acknowledge the results of my magic
I realize there is no heaven as there is no hell, and I view death as the destroyer of life.
Therefore I will make the most of life here and now.
I am Vampire
Bow down before me.

Beyond this I can say it isn't exactly a book which is all Bible means, Biblos=book in English. It is more like a short paper sized periodical, or it was when I got it which was a number of years ago. The one I have has the spiral bind on it, not wire but plastic spiral bound and it isn't more than 20 pages and some are just title pages. I think it is rudimentary. If you can handle what they say in the pamphlet then you possibly can believe in their views and usually become a member.

My personal opinion is to steer clear of this group.

The Temple of Set is NOT a vampire group. Formerly they were offshoot people from CoS, Church of Satan. They now have divorced themselves from this connotation and they do have a level that deals with Vampires but they are not a mainstream vampire organization. Stregoi Vii has been around for awhile but this group like the TOV has a belief system attached but all do to a degree but it is detailed and I won't say here. The group has gone somewhat underground and secretive and they do NOT approve of blood drinking. The Temple of the UVUP is ok but it isn't exactly mainstream either if you could call any of them such.

I would get involved in a yahoogroup or message board first and learn all you can and then make choices. Lady CG has an excellent one called Smoke and Mirrors. She has a profile here. House of the Dreaming might be a good one or even Lord Rhyus House if you want to get a taste of the more Stregoi Vii like House. There is a long list of Houses and all have their own philosophies; some in line with others. Join the Haven of Kindred Spirits online to learn about the community. Sacred Kin is another one...it use to be Vampyres.org
If you are into Egyptian influences and Luciferianism then House Sekhemu might be your bet. You must be extremely academic to excel there. Writing is required and it is set up similar to Kheperu/Strgoi Vii It is authoritarian and has inner and outer circles as most do that follow this type of set up.

These others are fringe more or less even though Sebastian organized a lot of actitivities and started a lot of the beginning organizations I would say for someone new to the community this would not be a good starting point, unless this is merely being used as his outer circle online. You use to have to go through strict interviewing to get into the Stregoi Vii. He has many organizations but unless you have some background in the culture none of these places is where I would start off.

In a personal view, I think the sites are there for the social base for others that are simply learning about the differant ways of the vampire in general. I do agree a bit with ~Alixaryon~ on a partial note that there seems to be little to no air of authority on those pages, just a bit of academic philosophy tied in with idealistic conotations. Simply there to get the mind racing.

Some philosophies may actually be lived and felt by society...While others are simple common sense followings such as that 1 through 6 list that is presented in this thread. All of which should be used regardless of who you are anywho. No harming anything...Well no SH*T! Its illegal anywho. So why is this rule always brought up? I think we have it implanted within our minds by now...Give it a break already.

My house, House Solaris does have a certain example of lessons, that I do live by on the basis of life simply because they coorespond with my individual philosophies. These lessons are examples alone and can be viewed on my portfolio page.

Though my house is on myspace at the following link: House Solaris for those interested in another look at House philosophies. As not all Houses, Sects, Cults, etc. are all the same...

It is a legitimate House that is based out of the New Orleans area, and is as well a House that is on the Board of the New Orleans Vampire Council. We do not have, nor wish to have any sort of entertaining sites that subject society to standards of any kind...Be who you are, that is all that we ask.

(Continued from last post)

On a side note, pertaining to those of whom "claim" to be vampire, it is or should have always been common sense that if the individual were true vampire...They would not create fundamental steps, guidelines, rules, or whathaveyou for the affirmition of what they are.

If you are and you know you are, you do not need any sort of paperwork to remind you how to govern your life. You govern it the way(s) you see fit. Plain and simple. As for those of whom claim to be blood drinkers, I have to give it to them, they do put on quite a show...Now, if they were true to life, IRL, I would love to see them drink from a teaspoon full of blood and see their reaction to it. I really doubt that those of whom claim to be blood drinkers are in fact true blood drinkers.

My apologies, some of the subject matter in this thread just irks me to no end. If there needs to be an authority figure writing rules for the "unlearned" within the community, who gave them the right to "train" any individual? Hell, most of us simply do not need the "training" or "tutorship" at all. Simply out of instinct is where we recieve our information pertaining to the acts of the vampire.

The individual may stake a claim to be whatever they desire. But if ever they are confronted by any other individual that would like them to prove their convictions...I would love to see their reaction when they are brought into the spotlight based on their convictions and how they would handle themselves.

i find that -TOV- is legit in that they do follow and practice what they preach for the most part, they do offer a lot of information to those seeking to better themselves, but as always to each is their own.i feel it's just another vampire house that has a gathering and that they do take their ways seriously and keep things in secretcy.

There are many camps on this as you well know and that is what really gets me as well when they do internet searches and find this group or that board. Not all of us can be as fortunate to live in a hub place where some things come naturally or we are magickally in the know about certain aspects. You don't need a name for certain things and I always felt this way. You do what you do but some want a culture and organization so they created Houses that don't follow family lines in the sense of bloodlines. To each their own but if they want to understand things many people want mentors or some place to feel they aren't strange with people of like mind. It is really up to the individual to decide but joining a group because they are well known with celebrity you might say founders isn't a smart thing to do. Just like anything else in life if you want to be in an organization you need to find out about their history and how it is run and if you can live with it. It is not a given that any of these groups are right about anything. You need to go with your gut and what fits with you and if you just want to be on your own shouldn't be labeled by any name at all.

This is a vampire themed site so topics like this will come up and some of us feel that people need some direction to get away from their pie in the sky fictional rpg mentalities. This group on this thread are very to me, militant in nature. If someone wants to be a member it is their right but...they should know all the ins and outs...its not cool to all of us but its a philosophy they have for whatever reasons. If it fits with your own in some way then fine. I just get disturbed that people always find the TOV organization on the net and think it is so cool without even checking out anything else. I wouldn't go near this group with a ten foot pole, but that's me. This is not a simple thing and to make light of people who wish to learn things isn't a good thing...as I have said repeatedly vampirics do not come out of a mold and all think alike. Some people get very confused. I don't think any one person or group has all the answers or we wouldn't be organizing group after group and searching endlessly for origins which most of us don't agree on in the end when someone writes a book about all of this. The TOV is a very radical group different from most and it is a religion and it is up to the individual to decide. Some of the topics are very demeaning to people who take all of this seriously. Please know your topic before putting up all these sites...over and over again I see people in here recomment places and groups that are less than optimum and more in the nature of a cult.

i find that any publicity to any type of group be it positive or negative is like free advertizement and for the younger crowd it is more apealing,i myself do not see anything wrong with anyone joining any group such as -tov- as long as they keep their eyes open and have a certain amount of caution, personally i enjoy bits and pieces from many houses in the vampire community that i have been part of including the t.o.v.

Just remember, even though the TOV is affiliated with the vampire community, it is by no means part of the community itself...Therefore, please keep in consideration any principle philosophies of any group related to the community as a whole may not be the way of the TOV and vise versa. Keep this in regards.

once again "humans, the bottom of the food chain" as so shall it be when the vampires rule again...

i am a memeber of the temple. people really need to take time to listen read to truly understand amoung having an open mind about things...

first priority those that live the lifestyle truely are better off in secrecy then to deal with this...

once again society plays a big role in the community and what they put out there...

The TOV is more like a cult following, in the ways of their own religion and understanding of their own paths in life. Nothing more. Their understanding as they are the gods and mortals to say the snacks.

They are part of the vampiric community and has been around for sometime, un-noticed until the last couple years when the push of vampire beliefs hit the culture full force. and they surfaced and became popular.

It is money and religion, cults in away. much like any other religion. but it is up to the person to choose in the life or look deeper into the cult aspect of it.

I have the temples bible and although a half decent book it was overpriced, they then try to ask for money to learn stuff that comes naturally to me, they care nothing for those with natural abilities who did not need their help to achieve power, the only way to advance through them is by paying. Whereas their teachimgs may be attainable, they are arrogant and self centred. Also like other religions they are ritual based, ritual is only something needed so that learners have a point of focus, after that its simply an organisations way of misleading people that power has an external source. All magic comes from within and is limited only by the will of the practitioner.

It's like I said prior, to each there own. For some, it will be a good fit because this is how they think and for others no. A group, any group has some form of organization even if it is loose knit and I think if they post on the net and show a lot of it then it is open for discussion and not a hush, hush thing but most have their inner circles and secrets that you aren't going to get them to discuss no matter what you do. The TOV is liked by numerous people but it still as Soulshroude stated, is not in the mainstream of the community. If you think humanity nothing more than at the bottom of the food chain as one mentioned then this group is probably your cup of tea but it is an individual choice. It is not my choice because it doesn't fit my personal philosophies and that is all it is. They have been around a long time. I don't think of vampyrism as a religion or stemming from dark gods, so it just doesn't fit with me. It is like anything else everyone has beliefs and some believe differently. I think you must be careful when broaching these topics because even if you don't think of it as a religion in this case it is a religion everyone is speaking about. Other groups have their spiritual sides and may not call it a religion and have religious status for tax purposes. Most have email listings and if you are unsure that is the way to go. No one can seriously debate on whether one group is good or the other is bad seriously. All one can do is say they personally would not choose this or that group for whatever reasons. I think you really should move on to something else more general in nature.

well to me them calling it a Bible and trying to sell it, just does sit well with how I look at these things. Why not let someone learn then decide not decide and then learn it is not what they thought it was about or be, just an opinion..

I haven't looked into the Temple of the Vampire too much, but I don't believe it would be something I would be too interested in. From what I have seen and heard it could be a lot about making money. It may be a great service for some and I hope it does help people. I wish them the best in luck in whatever their paths are.
