I am thinking about teaching magick as a possible profession. A friend of mine suggested that I should. He said I'm very smart in this field of knowledge. I have a passion for magick and most of my magick is from with in. I have read a few books or scanned some others. I learn new things such as herbals/oils and a few others when I go through books I also confirm I am not the only one who does my magick the way I do. Most the time I'm right about my magick skills.
if anyone has any knowledge on where or how I can teach people magick, who would I have to talk to about this and what type of degrees if any would I need? I am curious and in the process of researching it. I would like to write a book but I keep getting writers block. It's easiest if I teach in person or if I do write, if someone writes what I say. I don't know exactly how to put this into a profession.
When ever I teach a class on tarot, psychometry etc
I meditate alot and I do a three day cleansing of the body to remove all toxins.
Since you want to do a class on Magic I would resume whom the students would be....for your magic sounds as if it is for the highest and best. I do not think you would want them to do the reverse of your intent.
Excellent Notion! Now is the best time as many younger persons are coming back to this ancient form of practice and wishing to learn of this.
Whenever someone ask me about magick I generally teach the basic. I don't teach them to the full extent that I know unless I know they will be a good student. I noticed that a lot of high school kids and jr high are starting to become students of magick and I am willing to teach it to them. It is how I have always been in every past life and this one, a teacher of magick.
I'm not sure if I'd want to do a full class or just a few students at once and I'm not sure how I would start getting into the teaching magick as a profession. I believe I would be successful if I could learn how to start the business. I never started a business before and only know the basics of business. I know a lot of Customer Service because I worked at a call center for a year in a half.
And thank you guys for the compliments :D It's something a friend sparked interest for me, I have always been passionate about teaching, but for the longest time I was wondering about what I should teach. And now, I think I know and have been meditating upon it since my friend sparked the interest in me.
I think that is wonderful, my girl friend and I teach a witchcraft 101 class every other saturday and my son used to go to a class called moon school for kids from 6-16 it was wonderful, there isnt one around where I am now, so all that he knows he has learned from me.
I would start by setting up a website of your own for that purpose and hold sign ups for a specific fee and maybe inclued in the cost of sign up a basic package of needed matereals for the students. The internet is the easiest way to reach tons of people without having to get contacts.
I have thought about starting a website. but I wouldn't know really how. I'm just learning that type of thing.
Since you are not familiar with web design and such I would seek either someone you know who can do that for you or go to a professional who will charge you a fee to get it set up. You will want someone who knows what they are doing and who will do a good job for you. You will need to catch the interest of those who are looking to learn and the best way to do that is through visuals and a thorough summary of what service you will provide them.
Yes setting up a website to do so would be a good way to go, Birra has a great price on that, I inquired about it yesterday.
Another idea and what we do here somestimes is offer workshops at local shops try looking up your local shops on witchvox.com then when you hold the workshop business is brought into the shop and its a lot of fun
You are most welcome, I hope that you have atleast got some ideas on how to go about what you seek to achieve now.
Many Blessings
LDR
Good luck in your venture hon. Another suggestion would be to find some other forums online regarding what you are wanting to teach and speak to others to get even more ideas and also to do some networking. You might be surprised at what you will find.
Here is the one reply you might wanna read.
If someone asked me what magic is, i'd reply
"Its all about love potions, gaining more control around you, influencing others and generally, benefiting in life"
Your problem is going to be very large - Everyone has a different opinion on what magic is. YOU, most likely are going to tell me that my above statment is incorrect, whereas someone else may say i'm right.
Tip - Outline what you know, what you plan to teach and interwind within that your opinion on what magic is.
Secondly, Seeing as someone has still yet to PROVE that magic exists, i suggest you find a way to ... prove its existence. Otherwise your going to be called a con-artist AND a nut job.
No one will pay to learn about something in which there is no proof.
You'd be surprised at what people will pay for. I have known someone successful with business for her own shop and doing some teaching. She taught meditation, divination, stone magick, and other things. I lost contact with this person, other wise I would have contacted her and asked her help on this.
Zihauna:
I don't have any advice as far as turning this into a profession outside of perhaps putting up some flyers and doing a first class free type thing - see who's interested and whatnot.
That aside, good luck. I wish there was someone who could take me under their wings in my area. I'm a Theistic Satanist who feels that nature, and nature based religions, are very important. Yes, a bit contradictory but I'm ok with that.
This is in reference to what TheKing posted. You do not have to prove something as being real if it is how someone believes. It is a faith just as christianity is a faith. There is not right or wrong. It is an individual belief and everyone is entitled to believe in what they want whether it is "proven" or not.

I'm sorry, your statement just doesnt hold water.
The grass is green, isnt it? So if i told you it was orange, would that make me right because i beleive it to be?
Sooner or later, whoever your teaching is going to be asking a few questions about the success rate in which magic occurs.
Then there is going to be a huge problem when they realise it doesnt. Unless you can prove it.
Religion is usually forced on people anyhow. They have to beleive by means of survival - Does not mean there is a man in the clouds watching you.
I don't force anything on anyone. I just talk about it when asked, or ask about it when curious. And if someone wants to learn I teach them what I know. And they seem to wanna continue to learn. They seem to connect very well with it.
If there were huge problems with it not being proven then the practice would not still be alive today.
"If there were huge problems with it not being proven then the practice would not still be alive today."
Your speaking like magic is actually a profession. Perhaps it is how the media has twisted the image of magic that has kept it alive for so long. Just like vampire's, magic is merely a legend. Proof of its existence would surely back someone up whp wants to teach it? If not, then you would be asking people to pay for something that..isnt there. And therefore, problems would occur.
"telling them what you know" Is just giving them words. If those words dont produce what your clients want is it there fault? Down to their lack of ability? I think not.
This is a hazardous situation that needs to be thought out properly.
you have your doubts. but it is a successful idea. Specially if I did a new age store.
like so People will pay to learn how to do certain things or have readings done. People even pay to learn how to do readings correctly. Some people just don't learn well out of books and some people do need a teacher to learn. You have your have your opinion. But it's not gonna turn down my thoughts of what I am curious to do. Why must you try and shoot that down?
*Just an opinion.* I'm not saying that you should or should not teach what you know of magick. I myself was taught... by family... but I do understand we need teachers out there to guide others.
But ask yourself these questions:
Do you think that you can hold yourself responsible for what these students do with the knowlage you give them?
Are you really ready to accept money for such knowlage?
Are you willing to teach anyone willing to pay your tuition dispite what they intend to do with the things you teach them?
And what are you going to do with people who have no power or talent what-so-ever? Give a refund?
Teaching others would be a great idea if it comes from your heart and you want to really help others developing their form and power.... but I'm not sure it would be a good business venture on several levels.
If you do it I wish you the best of luck.
But ask yourself these questions:
Q.
Do you think that you can hold yourself responsible for what these students do with the knowlage you give them?
A.
Actually I don't have to hold myself responsible for the knowledge I give them, if they chose to accept it, they chose to accept it. I wont tell them what path to chose, and I wont be guilty for what they do with the knowledge they use. What they do is on their own. Not mine. I only direct them and help them to learn.
Q.
Are you really ready to accept money for such knowlage?
A.
yes I am. And I would also put that money towards a business of a New Age store that I would be owning.
Q.
Are you willing to teach anyone willing to pay your tuition dispite what they intend to do with the things you teach them?
A
Like so, what they intend is their business. What I teach them is our business. Where I direct them, hopefully they chose that path. I will put no force into a path of someone else's life. SO as the answer is, yes.
Q.
And what are you going to do with people who have no power or talent what-so-ever? Give a refund?
A. No not give them a refund, everyone has power. Can they tap into it? I can only try to help them, if they still fail. I may give them a partial refund. But still, I will keep some/most of it for trying and putting work into it.
Will these answers satisfy your curiousity?
If you can justify your reasons and methods and accept the fact that you will be passing along potentially dangerous knowlage to others who may or may not have good intentions then you will be successful in your venture.
However on a personal note I was always taught that magick is sacred and not everyone can properly control it or responsibly use it. And those of us who can have a resposiblity to protect others. It's a family thing and we don't teach outsiders unless it's for their protection.
I just hope you take some steps to keep yourself safe. I hope that you find pupils who will go out into the world as resposible users of the gift. And I hope that you gain a profitable business.
My curiosity is satisfied and I wish you the best of luck.
yup. And I always carry my protection on me. I rarely get cursed these days and when I do they are quickly removed.
