Death Spirits

For a person who doesn't believe in

ghosts,spirits,haunted houses,evps,etc.I have this

question to ask....do you believe in death spirits??

First of all this is all from my head and a personal

journal I write in.There is no link to some

website...so please do not ask for one.

Now,I am a firm believer in not believing in such

topics but when my mother died in 2004 I had a vision

of her about 3 weeks after she died.I was distraught

and mourning her death.I even had a nervous break down

because of it.I can not see anything what so ever

without my glasses on nor can I see anything in the

dark(my bedroom is pitch black).I had been asleep

about an hour so when I felt something touch my leg,no

dog at the time and my father was sound asleep in his

bedroom.I woke up and looked at the foot of my

bed...remember pitch black and no glasses. At the foot

of my bed was my mother, glowing with a smile on her

face. She was as bright as the day and I could see her

clearly. You will say oh you were dreaming but no...I

was awake. She was touching my leg and said,"It is ok

now, everything is better now."Then she slowly faded

away, the room went dark and I went back to sleep.

Now I am asking if you have every had this happen to

you,if you lost someone close to you.If so explain in

detail what happened and if you believe it as an

actual event or something else.

To address one thing you posted, we only need you to link to things you cut and paste that aren't your own.

Other than that- if you do not believe in these things, and you admit you were distraught and mourning... you have to realize the mind is a powerful thing and you can see things you want/need to see that aren't there with this powerful mind. Lots of people see things that aren't there, it's a part of that process of the reconciliation with tragic reality.

I do believe in lingering human energies after death. I am not a ghost hunter nor am I consumed with it in any way, I just believe for my own reasons. I understand why so many don't though. That being said, I feel no need to make people believe what I know for myself.

What I don't know is- what the difference between a ghost you say you don't believe in, as opposed to what you are calling a 'death spirit'.

Just a title I thought of for the topic...To me a "ghost" if they existed is something lingering on the earth...that can't make peace with its death.

a "death spirit",is something seen only once after someone dies.My mother said she saw her uncle much the same way after he died when she was a child.

Maybe ghosts don't have unfinished business. Maybe you can just be a free roamer when you die. After all, our understanding is based on what different people tell us, which are all guesses. No one knows until they die, then they aren't here to give us the true scoop. Or, are they? ;)

Other then seeing my mother I have never seen a "ghost" so I can't say I believe in them...even if 1 million people said they have.

I was just trying to get others take on if this has happened to them or it is something to not happen that often.

But I do understand what you are saying.

It's never easy to believe in something you have not experienced. I have had too many experiences to not believe. And it happens everywhere I go. I don't look for it, I don't talk about it to many people, and I don't act as any sort of medium for others. I also don't have any kind of control over it, and haven't even tried to. All I do know is, I don't mind it. I'm not scared. And it's not so strange.

I don't mind giving minimal information here on VR about it, but it's not something I share with people in my offline world. It's not worth the scoffing, and it's not something I feel to brag about or share. The experience is just, mine.

This is the kind of question that used to drive me nuts when I was younger.....is it real ?

Now, some true "believers" would tell you it was real without knowing anything about you.

Some would read the background information you have given and say, you must take into account your emotional/mental state at the time.

Some "well meaning" folk would say it was real without even thinking about it in order to attempt to make you feel better.

What would I say ?

From what little I know about you from your journal, I would say that the love you hold for your Mother and vice versa will never die.

Sometimes when I am in bed at night, and my mind is quiet I "feel" the love of someone now in spirit, sometimes a bitter sweet thing, but I imagine giving them a hug and holding them close, such things are real to me.

Only you can in fact answer your own question.

A month or so after my dad died, I saw a man in Home Depot who looked JUST like him. My husband saw him too. I had to walk by him twice. He had the same stance, arms, hair, glasses, facial features and walk. Of course it was not him, but it gave me the impression that it was my dad telling me he was ok. And for me to see him in Home Depot was the icing on the cake. My dad loved to go there to look around and to get things he may or may not use. It was just so surreal.

Regardless of whether or not you believe in them, they know of and believe of you.
If you passed and went to a better place (If you believe in such), how could your spirit be at rest if it could not see or know the ones it left behind or fine or not?
You are of your parents and they of you, in mind, body and spirit.
Your mother knew you were in serious distress and wished to let you know she is fine and wishes for you to be so as well.
They never leave us, that is what life eternal is all about.

Whether or not she chooses to show you she's there or not she will always be. It could either be that eerie you're being watched (which you are) or that cold draft when there's no wind to speak of.
My Father passed back in 2003 and I still feel his presence now and then. He is a great man. Anyone who passes and would rather hang around to keep an eye the ones they love is GREAT. When they take the time to check on you you know your truly loved and cherished by that person.

My only real experience with the paranormal was when I was small. My grandfather had passed away, and we had someone saying over, so I slept on he couch instead of my bed. After I grew bored of watching TV, I decided to shut it off and go to sleep. I stared into the blank TV screen to the reflection of what was behind me, which was the dining room.

I snuggled into the covers and close my eyes for a bit and then reopened them to look at the TV. I wasn't even thinking about my grandfather at the time, but as I looked into the TV I saw a figure walking from the end of the dining room toward the kitchen. Instantly I remembered my grandfather, and I felt his presence. The figure looked like he's body shape, and as I made these connections, I turned around and looked behind me. There I saw the shape too. I didn't jump out of my skin or scream or anything like that, I just asked "Is that you?". The figure stopped moving for a moment, but then resumed moving toward the kitchen. After I saw it enter the kitchen I got up and went into the kitchen and there was nothing there. I woke up my mom and hold her about it, and she shooed me back to the couch to go to sleep.

Now, I'm not too sure if I really saw my grandfather that night or not. I just doubt my grandfather would show himself to me, instead of my grandma or my mom, if he really did. So, I'll forever remain the skeptic on my experience.

I lost my mom when i was 13 I'm now 20 (as of today 8/16) and its been almost 7 years since her death and I've felt her (in many different forms) many times since her death. There have been times where things have happened that I cannot explain. After thinking about it i realized that it was because she guided me through it when i didn't know it. I also lost my grandmother 2 years ago and have also felt her since. There have been many things that have happened that i cannot explain that i know my grandmother helped me through. I've lost many other people in my life and have sensed a few of them at different points for different reasons.

Your mom may have come back to let you know that she is ok and not to worry and she let you know in a way she saw fit. Cherish the memories you have of her and she will always be with you.

I wonder sometimes about hallucinations.

I also wonder sometimes if spirit can tap into those brain centers without actually having to manifest, and without you needing to being in an altered state of consciousness (astral, etc.)

The point that you make (that you cannot see without your glasses, and that you were fully awake) seams to verify it as a hallucination of this type.

I think Kglitterous is more talking about how she appeared to you. The chances could be that you were about to see her in the dark because she influenced your brain in some way to see her.

Experiences,....one must be open to such,..however I love it when a serious skeptic is working with me and has their first real experience, as we are health care workers and of course death is an everyday occurence in our jobs.

My first experience happened when I was eight. My grandparents lived with us, and directly after a sudden unexpected death of my grandfather, three nights in a row not only I, but both my two sisters awoke , sat up in our beds and watched our grandfathers spirit walk down the upstairs hallway.
Had it not been seen by them as well, I would have thought I was dreaming and still in shock of his passing.
My oldest son and I lived in that house after wards, and he use to have what I thought was an imaginary freind, as he was an only child at the time. One day while looking through andold family photo album with my mother, my son pointed out my grandfather in a group photo of family and stated "That's my freind George" Both my mother and I turned white, as he could not have ever possible even known my grandfather's name.
At work; many of the patients state they have seen someone in there room talking to them or even a dark shadow just days before they pass away.
After 20 yrs of such experiences in health care, it's really hard to pass it off as mutlitude grand illusions or hallucinations from so many patients, especially when their own death occurs shortly after the sightings.

I believe in ghosts, though maybe not what people describe them as. I'm not keen on the "orb" idea because too many people see dust in pictures and then go on and on about them being orbs. From personal experience, I've heard many things that were inexplicable and frightening. I've seen one solid figure that scared me so bad that I actually peed on myself...and I was a teenager when that happened. I don't know why ghosts are here...maybe unfinished business, maybe they're 'lost', or maybe they're fixed to one certain person or area for the rest of their time. Almost everyone says that ghosts can't hurt you...but if a poltergist (i'm not sure how to spell it) can throw objects or push people...then couldn't they push someone down the stairs and probaby break their neck which made the person die? Or couldn't they hit them with a CD and have it cut a person's jugular and they bleed to death? Of course, i'm completely fixated on the whole "the glass is half empty" viewpoints and I always think the worse is going to happen. On a lighter note, it could be an old friend, lover, or relative who is watching you or trying to talk to you because they love/miss you.

I know for myself, back at the end of December 2008 and the first week of January 2009 I was over whelmed witha feeling of complete and distraught feelings that something was horribly wrong, I had been writing in my journal about this , and no matter what I did I could not shake this feelin I couldnt stay grounded and it was getting top the point of me being paranoid. January 11, I got the call that pretty much destroyed me, my mother had been found dead in her home, no leads on what she died of , how she died, after going up to her house to get her things out of there which by far is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. I went there witha very dear friend of mine, actually someone on here that I have become very close with, she actual;ly flowew up here from texas because I was a wreck, and she went with me, because there was no way i was going to be able to do it myself. When we reached here place and went inside the feeling and emotions and the raw energy just over whelmed me nearly knocked me right on my ass.

Where they said they had found her body just didnt seem right, nothing about the place seemed right ,. there was a lot of anger ..... as we sat there packing things and me trying my best to hold myself together her ex boyfriend came in the room, now we were in the living room and the window was opened, as the boyfriend walked ity the window slammed closed.... i nearly jumped out of my skin.

The hair on the back of my neck is standing up now even thinking about this.

The events that occured after this is still too painful for me to talk about, so I will close by saying that yes I do believe that that is very much possible Jay.

Actually, people can't really tell the difference between hallucinations and reality... unless they were 'high' and it is obvious. But there are many reasons why they happen and it doesn't have to be due to drugs or mental instability. It's the simple science of the mind and a chain reaction in grief. They seem real because the mind is far more powerful than given credit for.

There are tons of reasons why these things happen. I believe in spirits- but I also believe that these things happen for other reasons, and while we all love to hear that old line, "It's because they wanted to give you closure/make sure you were okay..." Sometimes we want to see things so bad that we just do, but didn't... not really. We need to know and hear that explanation, but it's so generic and 'one size fits all'.

Now you have to try really hard to understand these points without getting offended. It's not easy for people to read such things when the subject is so personal. Because the fact is, you may or may not have seen it. Just like I may or may not see/hear/feel the things I experience. I completely accept that. But I accept that I experience them anyway, and don't let them change my everyday life.

No offense taken Images...its just as you believe spirits are real...I do not.I try to keep an open mind to such things and as I stated before...unless I see these things myself...I continue to not believe in them.

And I have had them. Beyond these other things I have experienced- I also felt I was contacted by my father when he died back in 1992. For me, there's no way it could not be real. But stepping outside of my own personal box, I have come to realize... I will accept and cherish it rather it was a spirit or not. Real or not- in the end it does not matter in the grand scheme of things. I wanted it, I got it, I am keeping it :)

According to my Shaman friend whom i've been close with for over 3 years told me once that when a person dies, they linger around their body for 2 days before passing.
Why i do not know.
I feel that to be true considering that during my husband's grandmother's death, during her services.....all the adults were talking among themselves but while they were talking i looked up and noticed that all the grandchildren, every single one of them, were by her coffin, in total silence, looking at her, some holding one another. Never saying a word to each other. It was just an amazing moment because it would have been something Nanny would have wanted. For all her kids to be with her.

I have not had the experience. My mother has them regularily; she also cannot see well, without her glasses. If you do not like the hallucination concept... perhaps the Idea of a phantom pain (like when someone loses their leg, and still feels the absent leg itch) is more appropriate. Perhaps your brain is filling in the details of the experience. A conditioned response, which your brain cannot destinguish from reality. A triggering event, such as the spiritual touch of the noncorporal, (or perhaps a triggering smell, or color etc,) induced an automatic perception in the brain.

The brain uses a paradigm to fill in the details for which it only has nominal data, and because it does this all the time, it cannot destinguish the paradigm from reality although cognitively you understand that there is a glitch.

My best friend (and first love) died when I was 18. I have spoken to him many times since his death. He appears as an apparition or simply as a voice in my head but he is there nonetheless. I do not imagine him, I do not dream him, he is simply there...I cannot explain it, nor do I want to. He is my guardian angel.

People who are ready to pass from this plane...will see those who passed over before them.

I have had dreams of those who have passed over, and with them comes a message, that comes true.

I do believe those we loved who have passed over are with us, and when we hear that voice or see them, they are letting us know they are fine.

Spirits of those who passed over cannot hear our thoughts..many say speak to them.

I remember the day I was talking to my grandmother.
A wall shelf that was well bolted into the wall came flying off the wall and spilled everything onto the floor in which was very light weight.

Hello all:

Here is my 3 cents.

I do believe in ghosts as well as spirits.

A ghost is an individual who died but has not crossed over to the other side. A spirit is someone who has crossed over but comes back to visit.

I am a paranormal investigator (for me came with the Witch territory), ans a Psychic/Medium.

Death Spirits of loved ones to come back to make their presence known as well as let their family/friends know that they are okay. This way there can be healing as well as closure so both the spirit and loved ones left behind can move onward.

If anyone has more questions, please message me.

Yes I do believe that this can happen , I feel if they loved someone very much and knew they were leaving those people behind they would want to go back and reassure those loved ones not to mourn them to much that they no longer hurt or are sad , and that they will be watching over them till there time comes.

I believe ghost are energy, and once death has taken you, all is left is pure energy, that energy can be at time seen and other time simply sense, I admit that I got a few times pokes, touched and even pull off my bed and thrown on walls. But I would think mainly ghost can only reassure us since they are energy and energy can be positive and radiates positive vibes, which in return makes our own vibes more at ton and feeling good. My two cents. ^^

That sounds more like a poltergiest to me instead of a death spirit.
Black mass, shadow people, grim reaper, black is a negative energy. Black holds no Aura of light, human spirits hold light refraction, Aura's.
