The Blair Witch:: Real or Fictional.
If fictional do you have any explanation to support the disappearence of these persons.
And before you say animals ate them, the bones would have been discovered by blood hounds during the searches.

In the winter of 1785, Elly Kedward was banished from the town of Blair after several local children accuse her of performing witchcraft. She was presumed dead from exposure, but the next year, all of her accusers have vanished. The residents of Blair fear she's cursed the area and abandon the town, vowing never to utter the name "Elly Kedward" again.
( Elly Kedward being claimed as the Blair Witch)

In 1825, a year after the town was rediscovered and founded as Burkittsville, the villagers held the first annual Wheat Harvest Picnic. During the picnic, ten-year-old Eileen Treacle wandered off towards Tappy East Creek and drowned. Eleven eye-witnesses claimed to have seen a ghostly white hand reach up and pull her into the shallow water. Her body was never found, and for thirteen days afterward, the creek became contaminated with oily bundles of sticks, rendering the water useless.
Townspeople noted the possible supernatural characteristics of the Treacle disappearance and were quick to blame the death on the Blair Witch.

In 1886, eight-year-old Robin Weaver alledgedly followed a woman who's feet didn't touch the ground into a house in the woods. She took Robin into a house, where the woman locked her in basement and said she'd return later. Distressed, Robin escaped through a small window. A search party was dispatched, but while Robin later returned, the search party didn't. A second search party found the group disemboweled at Coffin Rock. When they returned to the site with help, the bodies had vanished without a trace.

In late 1940, a hermit named Rustin Parr began abducting children from Huntington Beach. He kidnapped eight children total and brutally murdered seven of them, letting Kyle Brody go. Parr confessed to the crimes in May of 1941, claiming he was doing what a person with a big dark cloak told him. Parr was convicted and hanged himself later that year.

In 1994, Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael Williams went into the Black Hills Forest while filming a documentary about the legend, and never returned. Search parties went out looking for them but they were never found. The footage of their documentary was found a year later within the foundation underneath an old house in the woods. Part of the documentary that was found was not published, instead sent back to the families of the three students. A reanactment of the documantary was made and published in 1999.

Info from http://blairwitch.wikia.com/wiki/Blair_Witch.

Even though I am skeptical of the very last three persons, that probably were in on this money making scheme that racked in millions, what of the History on the place and it's claims?

It was just a movie...with actors pretending to be making a documentary. There is no truth to anything in the movie Heather Donahue has been in other projects since the making of this film.As for "The Blair Witch",it is just something made up for the film...if there is anything "real" within the storyline...they used it to make the movie seem more realistic.

Thanks, I wasn't referring to the movie. I thought it was a hype as well.
Especially on the house , the only team I ever saw go into that house was ghost Hunters when they first started. Nothing happened.
I was wondering on the past of the strange events there.
Has anyone ever been there?
I'd like to go see it first hand.

the whole thing is fake, even the story about it. the idea/myth was made up by one of the producers. i met these people when the first film ran at sundance years back before it came out and before all the media hype.

Totally agree with thebatt, is Fake to the bone. many people believe that the real thing really happen, but, in real, the only thing that happen was the increase bank account of the producer.

*still laughing* wikipedia is not FACTUAL... It's an informational site that is updated by we, the people. We, the people are full of nonsense.

As DW already pointed out, what you are discussing here is just the back story for the movie. This was established to push the buzz for the flick. It was the first time a movie set up their p/r campaign in a "fact-finding" manner and the marketing launch was initiated to established to give a sense of "docu drama".

So your saying Rustin Parr never existed or killed those kids there and blamed it on the black figure, the Witch?
Rustin Parr isn't fiction, true story. He actually even turned one kid loose before he walked into town and turned himself in. He was convicted and hung in 9141 for those deaths.
Those seven children were found buried in the formation of a penticle on the ground.
You can find that info even by typing his name on a search engine.
The previous deaths are actual as well.
The recent three on the film they found, well who knows, no one ever found them.
I think it would be interesting to go down there and set up an investigation. As well as check their Library on the Witch.

it is a fake story.... with an amazing backstory....

the movie writers went all out to create a convincing history, to help along the Movie hype.

it worked.

it had people believing in the fictional "Blair Witch" and made the movie the most popular movie of that summer....

but never the less....

it's a fake....

pure and simple.

As others have said...fake, fake, fake.

The fact that you cand find stuff on the internet to support the "facts" of the story, only speak to the inventieness of those involved in the film project.

Try going to the local library, register of deeds etc, in that area of MD and do some research.

You will find NOTHING referancing any of the alleged "dissapearances".

The internet is not a reliable source for historic research unless you KNOW the source.
