I was once told that the band the Toadies is actually a group of "vampire occultist" "their words not mine."

But it does bring up an interesting new meaning to the song, Possum kingdom (which is the only toadies song I know).

Is there any truth to this rumor?

Any info on the subject would be great.

Well color me dumb cause I myself have not even heard of Toadies, I am sorry yet, I feel that any group can be anything they wish to be if they have followers to help make it so.

I mean most feel that alot of groups are considered to be an *Occult Band* so .. just my opinion.

I googled their lyrics and I haven't found any that just jump out like that one does.... I agree that a band can be whatever they want them to be if the fans make them that.

1. Why discriminate bands into "occult" like descriptions.

2. Just because a band might be trying to "come out of the shadows", does not mean they are "occult" like.

3. This seems to be the problem with most bands that go mainstream with rather "dark" lyrics. Society tries to stereotype them into "occult" like atmospheres, just because the lyrics in societies mind, seems to references anything sinister.

4. The lyrics could be interpreted as anything, really. Specifically with the phrase "I will show you my 'dark' secret".

OK it seems like everyone who is replying thinks I'm attacking the band and I'm not for starters hear is the definition of occult

I was merely trying to find out if there was any truth to it because i thought the concept of a band who's songs are based on vampires was quite cool and i wanted to learn more about it

and ofcoarse we all know that kiss stands for "kings in satans service", the song hotel california is about the anti christ, and stairway to heaven is also about some sort of "occult creepy stuff". (well...at least those are all things ive been told in my life)

first i really do think that the lyrics are pretty tepid and going by the criteria that you are using to "decipher" them, then almost any song could be occultish.
here is my example:

I do not think anyone is attacking the band, it is just my opinion that no matter what the lyrics are that doesn't make them one way or another. I did read through some more of their songs and most of them sound like they were written by someone in much pain over losing a love. The angry kind of you hurt me stuff. Truth is you can take MANY different songs and turn it into something if that is how you interpret it. My point is that while it is an interesting theory to have, it is not really possible to label a band because the fans and the band itself give themselves their reputation as it is with all bands/singers. It's almost like a painting... while fun to look at and attempt to grasp the painters thoughts while painting it, it is impossible to KNOW what that painter was thinking when he created the art piece. :)

I think you can make any connoctations as you like, you could refer to those lyrics as sexual preditation, people read into what they want to "see"

You can "see" whatever you wish if you look hard enough

but i must say its very interesting
