dreams are ways out, they are places we wish to be and dont want to be, they have the power to predict the future and the past that have may happend in past lives, to know what these dreams take careful focus, take time, a research, no one dream is the same, they all have different meanings, never be afraid to sleep, the darkness sheilds us as the light exposes us, sleep is unconcious turned concious but sometimes can not be remembered, it may take getting use to, but time cures all things
But you see, it doesnt matter what I dream about. It could be about going shopping and I cannot get out of it. I remember my dreams 99 percent of the time.
Why is getting out of the dream scaring you at this moment?...You have been coming out of your dreams, is it making you over sleep...Or what makes you feel you are trapped?
i've had experience with this actually... it scares you to the point where you keep yourself awake for days. if you are as good at recalling your dreams as you say, you *should* be able to open yourself up to the point where you're basically hypnotizing yourself into getting out of the dreams.
to do that i'd say...
work on counting your breathing. meaning, breathe in for four counts, breathe out for five, breathe in for four counts, breathe out for five... etc. when you get to the brink of sleep, talk to yourself (out loud if you need to)... give yourself a pep talk that this time you'll be able to snap out of it.
it might not work right away, but with some practice things should start looking up. also, if you get good, you'll be able to start controlling your dreams entirely. it starts to get fun, i promise.
good luck, dear!
To tell the truth, I had troubles sleeping before (as have many). Dreams are the effect of our subconscious trying to sort out the things it has collected. 75% of what goes on throughout our normal life is not even understood by our conscious. However, the way that we dwell on our dreams can force them to be reoccurring. The easiest way to subdue our fears is to acknowledge them. If you remember them, write them down. Understand what is going on in them. Then try to realize what it was that made them weigh so heavy on your mind. No matter what, sleep. Without it, you will die. Without dreams, you will die. However, dreams can show you the things that you have forgotten to realize. That may be what is disturbing you the most.
I am over sleeping because each time I try and wake up, I am dragged back down into the dream again. When I say I cannot wake up, I literally mean , I cannot wake up. I am totally aware of this happening. I think that is what scares me the most. Also, there are times in the middle of a dream that everything will turn black. When that happens, I can pull myself out quickly. But there is no sound anymore, no feeling, no seeing. Its like I am dead. That is the only way to describe that situation. There is just nothing. I dont know why I can pull of out those and not every other one. I dont like feeling trapped and it is that I am being trapped. It is against my will.
How long has this been going on?...What is the longest that you have stayed a sleep...?
The easiest way to do this is for me to give an example. I didnt sleep last night and this afternoon, I had to lay down. I was exhausted. In my dream, which was a mish mosh of a bunch of things I wont bore you with, but at one point, I was for some reason taking care of a lady at work. She was ill. OK, well, I at some point, took a pill, I felt myself swallow the pill, actually go and get the pill, but this was my dream. I remember in my dream, my conscious self telling my subconscious, dont worry you really didnt take a pill, because I was getting severe heart palpitation, not for real, but in my dream. I know my heart was beating regular. Anyway, I didnt want to be in the dream anymore because I didnt like the rapic heart beat, I was getting up when I felt something pull me. Actually pull me and tell me to stay. I didnt want to stay. But I couldnt leave. This probably makes no sense what so ever, because why should it. But that is what I mean about getting trapped. Its not what I am dreaming that is scaring me per say, it is not being able to come out that is. You dont know how I feel so alone in this.
The longest I have stayed asleep with this happening to me would be an entire night, or afternoon if I could not sleep at night. Lets just say that maybe 6 hours or so. That blackness is scary though. Everything is gone with that.
It sounds like a deeper part of your mind wants you to eperience these things or look deeper...I would work on looking into yourself deeper in a medatative stae and try to regain the control that you feel you have lost...
Yep, I understand the feeling.
Give me ten, and I'll have something for you.
I need a break.
Hmmm... Meditation or even a type of group hypnosis might work...But suppose your dreams "aren't" trying to kill you. What if they're trying to tell you something about someone else??? If you learn to read them instead of getting rid of them you may end up helping a lot of people.... Sometimes gifts are disguised as curses... It is up to us to recognize and to nuture them!!! Trust me I haven't fully "accepted mine but I've learned to live with it.
Enigma,
I am so trying to regain control over this. I am just at the point where I am losing the control I once had. To actually feel yourself being pulled back in and you not being able to do anything about it is horrible. Why those symptoms afterwards as well. And Billy, thank you as well. I will be waiting to see what you say because Lord knows, I am not going to sleep. I am wide awake, still have the shakes after all these hours and the headache as well. I also can not get rid of that awful feeling about something bad happening..
A lot of what you are feeling is the stress you are putting your self under, as well as the amount of extra chemicals being released in your brain during the extra sleep/dreaming time that your brain is not used to...
I have similar problems and seek medical help, did'nt sleep for days, I have dreams that happens so when i get scared I kind a get upset and anxious, so I have medication now to sleep, so I don't burn myself

Robin, thank you for reponding, in all due respect, its the not dream I am afraid of, its the not awakening that I am afraid of. I love my dreams (most of the time).. I can go anyplace in them. If I want to walk in the woods, I can, if I want to go shopping I can, if I want to help someone, I can. I can also change my dreams if I do not like they way they are going. I do have wonderful control of my dreams in that respect. That is why I say, I am losing control for some reason.
You might try looking at it in reverse...Look at your waking world, and see if there is anything that might be making your mind want to escape into your dreams...
Billy,
Thank you for that. I owe you more than a thank you. You actually brought tears to my eyes, because I really think I am going insane. I mean, I have mentioned this to people and wow, do I get looks. I wasnt bragging, just trying to find out if anyone else has had this happen to them. So, this is in my deeper sleep that this is happening actually ? I didnt know I could be so aware in a deep sleep. I am a deep sleeper though. I always thought I was staying of the edge of awake and asleep. That is what it felt like. I just want to understand better, that is all. I am sorry for the questions again. So it is possible for me to just go with it. Dont be afraid and just go. Let it pull me back ? I just dont like these impending doom feelings I get. And the being sick afterwards as well. I will try this and keep telling myself, no harm will come to me. Thank you again.
And you don't need to understand, thats the mind game. You choose to experience. :)
Its safe.
With all the symptoms you have described that you have after the dreams, and myself being in Medicine, I feel you should either go to your doctor, or see a Neurologist..
Part of your brainwave activity may be distorted..so this needs to be corrected if it's the case..and it's nothing major, you just have a person work with you to alter them, and it's totally non invasive..
But hey, I may be way off, but it may help you..
Either way, I hope this gets worked out, it must be hard for you..
Good luck with this new information, sweeting....we are all here for you ...
Billy amazing and so easy to visualize and work with using the onion as an example.
AD, the idea of seeing a doctor is a great idea - never rule something like that out.
I've got a question, Billy. What is left of the onion if all layers are peeled off?
There are always layers to peel off.
Unless you're Krishna or the like.
I guess we are just all one big onion heads. :)
Dreams are something that psychologists have been studying for centuries.
There are many explanations for them.
your case is a difficult 1.
a psycho-analyst might say that there is a deep fear in your subconscious that is keeping you awake. maybe even a fear of being awake. the stress caused in the dreams releases a lot of adrenalin and noradrenalin which causes things like the dizziness and nausea.
I suggest that you see a psychologist and simply tell them the problems you have.
they can really help.
the method that bad kitty talked about in her response worke d for me when i had the same problem. though all methods work for everyone differently i feel it is worth the shot. give it a try and if it doesnt work try other methods before going to see a doctor
dreams are what your mind sees as being real and you can control them by what you watch and what you see before you go to bed also by what you eat at least it works for me try it and let me know what comes of it
Well, after "sleeping" on it, I decided I will first rule out anything medical. Then I know what I am working with. Even if it just aleviates some of the stress. I will though take the advice of alot of you in the meantime and work with the dreams and not be afraid of not getting free from them. I did alot of reading last night on lucid dreaming and visited alot of boards on the subject and just read until 5 this morning and it seems that most people who lucid dream have these same problems until they just go with it. That made me feel alot better. All of you jumped right in to help and I thank you for that.
I use to dream like that. Everytime I wanted to wake up -- since I knew I was dreaming -- I would find a cliff and jump off it. For the longest time I was scared of dreaming, because I thought that one time I was to jump off a cliff I would die. I am still here, but I dont have dreams like that anymore. I use to have dreams like that when I was in my depression stage. I cut myself in dreams - literally - and hung myself, when I woke up I would be in the worse pain anyone could imagine.
Dreams are just something to live with, most the time I cant remember mine anymore. I dont get nightmares anymore, so I guess I have nothing to worry about.
What exactly are your dreams of and about?
Good luck frankie.
Not that this is related, and it is rather selfish of me, and I apologise for that, but what if you don't have dreams? What if you only ever have day-dream fantasies?
Hay you know I thihnk you may also be sleepwalking .
with the pill I thinke you did take one or something like one that is the only way that I can exsplain you feeling the pill go down your throught.
If you need someone to tallk to just send a massage my way .
hope you get over this soon .
All Love.
you just have to tell a doctor your having trouble sleeping and they will have (cant remeber the name) a specialized doctor come in and monitar your sleeping and your REM and the like...to determine what exactly is going wrong if its in that nature
but if your having these problems due to your intuiation that something bad is going to happen...that can be two things....your being paranoid and are developing a condition or your having a physic notion into the future
its really harsh what your going through i wish i could help...
I too have that same problem, and what have helped me, was valium, or a slepingpill that put you in a dreamless sleep.
what I have done is that everytime I wake up from a dream or a nightmare, I either paint, draw or write it down.. the reason why this is good therapy is that when you have on paper, it is a bit further away from your mind, in other words you have your fear infront of you.
after writing, go over them, read them through, because when your state of mind is balanced, it gets easier to cope with our nightmares..
try it some time, and if you need help looking st them, or some advice, feel fre to msg. me at any time, and I will try to help you as best as I can..
otherwise, drink a warm cup of tea, or milk and honey a half an hour before bedtime, this makes your body relax.
P.s. a good thing to remember i that nightmares aren't real, eventhough it seems that way, they are like pictures in a book, they cannot hurt you, but they are annoing...
I'm going to generally agree with Billy - this is probably your mind trying to release something. It is fully possible that you have repressed something, and in order for you to fully heal from it, your subconcious wants to make you aware of it so you can accept and heal. That happened to me, although it only happened for one night. I had a dream of something that happened when I was young that I had completely repressed. Being forced to confront it allowed me to grow and heal. You have to let the dream take you where it wants - its trying to show you something, and those feelings of fear are because it may be something you really don't want to remember, because once you do, you'll never be able to pretend it didn't happen. But trust me, accepting whatever it is will help you heal and give you peace of mind in the long run.
Best of luck, and if you need someone who has been in the same boat, feel free to message me.
Darkling, thank you. I know that it is something I need to follow through with. I need to learn how to work with my dreams and see what happens from there. I just want to clarify some things that we said in some replies. I am not having nightmares. My dreams are good ones. It has nothing to do with what I was dreaming that was making me afraid, it was me not being released from the dream that was doing it. I do not need anything to help me sleep. I am/was afraid to sleep because of not being released. Besides, if I need it, I have more sleeping meds than a pharmacy and I dont take them. I want to be able to dream, dreaming to me is as important as breathing is. I probably will try and see a neuro about this just to rule anything out, but I first have to wait and see how I am going to word this to him. "hi, I am being held hostage to my dreams".. that wont work. I also want to say, that I am not sleep walking at all. I really didnt swallow a pill either. I know this for a fact. I am just very aware of my dreams and they are very real to life. But I am awake/sleeping at the same time basically. Its just that the sleep/dream seems to have more control then the awake/conscious does. Thank you all again, there was some really good advice in here..
Dreams are the very things that drive scientist wold because they cant study them well enough. but what i can recommend out of experience is face this dream head on and find this evil entity that haunt you in sleep. this is the only real way of finding what it is and how to stop it. about dieing i would worry too much concidering that if your mind is stong then you will be fine if you can determine dream for reality when you want you'll be fine.
I have a dream book so if you have any questions feel free to stop by.
First , you should learn something: Medical solutions just dont work. I had the same problem myself and the only thing that work was to learn how to control them. I'm now able to control them completly and even to see future things while i'm asleep(but unfortunetly , i'm not sleeping too much as i dont have time). Anyway , try to live with the , only you can make it easier to support!
it sounds like you are having sleeping panic attacks. They can be severe and you feel like you are dieing. they are truely terrifying. If you speak with a doctor you may be able to spend the night in a sleep lab to find out for sure what your body is doinf durring these episodes and get some medical help. If that fails then you may want to look for alternative explanations/remedies like clensinf the houe of negative energy and using a dream catcher. But that is only after the medical help is sought.
i've had problems like that before. i get caught up in my dreams at times because it feels so real and there's nobody i know that can help me interpret them.
If you're going through problems that severe, you should get some medical help. That's physically as well as mentally depleting. You don't need that. Get some help babe.
I know that is terrifying. I have the same problem, only instead of not being able to wake up, i wake up, but I`m still trapped. All the time. Only, I think the problem has more to do with my "soundsight" ability, (wich is when, for example, I wish to see something, like how my half brother is, so I hear his voice in my head, and I focus on it, and then I`m able to see what he`s doing in my head, it`s always in black & white, like a dog,) than anything else. I tried medical help, as well as psycological, but it didn`t work and since then, I`ve developed a case of insomnia. I could be wrong, I`m normally nocturnal, uc, i sleep in the day, but now i can hardly sleep at all. I don`t recommend medical "attention". They`ll only call u crazy. Try walking through the woods in your dream, it usually helps me, if in the dream i`m human. If not, then, try making the dream world fear you. Attack it, force it to let you wake up, it`s extremely satisfying, in a way, not to be scared anymore. If you think I`m raving mad, message me and tell me so. Or at least let me know how that works for you.
Are you afraid a nightmare will come along? Or are you afraid you won't wake up one day? whats troubling you my dear? Messege me and help me understand.
Nice onion analogy, Billy. Very clear images from that one.
