Super Heroes of yesterday had secret identies; Super Man was Clark Kent, Dare Devil was a in the legal field.
Then came groups like X-men who seldomly established such covert identities.
What, in your opinion inspired, brought upon the phasing out of Secret Identies.
What, are your memorable characters covert identities?
My notable character is Harley Quien (sp) from DC, a character with the power of Mishap, and Slightless, assuming the profession of psyciatrics.
Matt Murdock is Daredevil
Harleen Quinzel is Harley Quinn a shrink
Every comic book character or most of them have a secret identity.I assume everyone in the real world wears a mask of some sort to hide the real them.
So in your opinion, what created the " Cover Identiti-less" characters.
Some people (comic book characters) have nothing to hide, they are or feel like they are an open book.I mean look at The Joker, yes he wears makeup but that is who he really is.
Why does Clark Kent/Superman wear glasses, they don't change how he looks. Some wear a mask/cowl aka Batman/Bruce Wayne to scare the bad guys...to put fear into them.
Just look through the villains of Marvel or DC,not all them hide who they are...like Lex Luthor.
In a way Clark Kent protected the people associated with him, by not identifying as superman constantly.
A person asked the writer a similar question, and the answer was paraphrase " a gimmick, to draw out creative ways fir Clark to dialogue his way out of inquiry from suspicious lois."
With newer character lines, the superpowered individual has less to hide, and in some cases they are already " outed" for their power.
Villians seldom bother with cover IDs..
Here's a thought for you ~Dab~, super hero's and villians in reality...
Those who claim the title of vampire, or walk on the "darker" side of their nature, who use alias's for their "darker" side. Would they be considered as modern day hero's and or villians?
Give the question some thought.
I follow your reasoning, and I believe the " sheep thread" is engaged in just that topic.
I was offering this one more to the Power Punk members.
i think that the xmen didn't really want to hide themseles all they wanted was to live wiith non mutants and for thehumans not to be afraid of their powers or the way they looked ie Beast
but then those like zorro batman etc they didnt want people friends family to know who they are in case they ask them to stop or if the criminal was a friend in spidesman's case against the green goblin and his son
SS asks a good question here-it just blanked out whatever I was getting ready to say. Must think about that for a bit.
In reply to thedarkwolfman's post,
The Joker from "the dark Knight" wore make up and yet you could still plainly see the massive scar on one side of his flipping face. Not an easy deformity to miss don't you think!!!!!
No make up in the world could have covered that up... Not even concealer.

I think the joker wanted people to see that... it portrays him as always smilin and never serious... Its a glasgow grin btw
I think that soem do not feel they need the secret idenity, some may call it boostfulness, or that do no tcare who does or does not know that they have abilities of soem sort, yet, even then I feel they still have a mask of soemkind hiding their true self.
Joker was out ther yet who was he really i mena many of us know yet, in a sense he still was hiding behind makeup and stuff ..
The hero with the perfect secret identity has to be The Incredible Hulk - Bruce Banner
He was a drifter, did Nick Fury know Bruce Banner was the Hulk? Must research that.
Some heroes amongst the not so popular area of comics and books hid their identities not so much of keeping the enemy from using it against you, but rather...
I guess in the past they needed to bring some sort of realism to the comic caricature, one aspect would be why have I not seen this hero in real life… coz he uses a disguise. X men are mutants and it runs on a more us and them theme like race. On a side note us witches still use the code to our name rather than let you know our names. This is due to witch hunts never ending and if your book of shadows is found you better not have your real name on it.
