I find these two women to be quite interesting. Although I have heard many say Bathory killed more people, La Voisin's numbers far surpass Bathory.

Does anyone know of any other female serial killers back in the day?

It seems to me that the female serial killers are much more violent and aggressive than their male counterparts.

Any thoughts as to why?

thats because they are more cool and collected than males, they don't kill people in a crazy rage.

Catherine Deshayes, "La Voisin" (c. 1640–1680), boastfully stated that she had sacrificed more than 2,500 children who had their throats slit at her Black Sabbats.

I'm not so sure that females are actually more violent, perhaps we stereotype females as being the 'gentle sex' therefore we find violent aggression committed by females to be more disturbing than violence committed by males. Both males and females have the exact same potential to become serial killers, there are no biological differences in their brains to account for sociopathic behaviour.

PAGAN: I have never though females were the, "gentler sex". In fact we are anything but gentle. We are lying and deceitful. Some men are, yes, but women tend to be more prone to anger and violence then a man. The reason is because women are highly jealous. Men can go about their day totally laid back and mellow, and a woman will ravage through his shit because she thinks he is up to something.

And then the shit hits the fan. Sure you have those stupid women that intimidate their man because they are overly jealous and it escalates into a fight and he hits her and she cowers in fear and tells no one until its too late (thus some of society think we are a gentler sex and stupid too for not fighting back), and then you have those women that get all psycho and pick up blunt objects and go for any body part they can aim at.

Females are not the gentler sex. Females are the, "I am so jealous and I am going to nag and bitch at you until you decide to beat me and I won't hit back because I want everyone to feel sorry for me" sex.

id rather a gang of angry men come after me with swords, than a similar gang of women with knives.

Sorry if I offended anyone by the comment about females. But it's true.

And I would rather fight a man than a woman any day.

Women are just plain evil.

It is hard to say whether they heard of her or not. La Voisin was born 26 years after Bathory died. While she could be mimicking what Bathory did, I highly doubt it as Bathory was just considered insane bathing in the blood of virgins while La Voisin was deemed a witch and held satanic rituals using the bodily fluids of children and babies for love potions etc.

Actually, I would say men are more under control of their emotions than a woman would be. If you see that women are more "vicious" then a man, it's mostly because they let their PMS get the best of them. lol Horomones are not exactly a ladies best friend esp if out of whack and sure the men have a history always of being violent but usually ....territorial, defensive, protectiveness, possibly possessive to a point but that's my guess as to why make the ladies just have a tendency to be more ebil in nature.
