I wondered quite seriously for a while and thought i would get other opinions, on vampires and what they can and cant eat? Two different questions really, first of all, if a vampire in myth, were to feed from a child would he/she be as satisfied and re-energised as if they had fed from an adult? And also, from myth again, do you think that eating regular food e.g burgers, would infact make a vampire severely ill if not worse?

Do you speak of the vampire of myth or reality? In myth, their bodies have died and atrophied completely, rendering their digestive systems useless (that burger would probably rot inside the stomach, causing a foul odor and bacteria would fester and thrive, leading to many diseases or complications).

The more realistic vampire, such as I or others you'll meet or have contact with can and have to eat food because otherwise we would die, much like a regular human. Truly we are just regular individuals with a different aura reading (atleast mine is different than most around me) that may be light sensitive and love a good tasting rare steak.... (mmm...... so succulent).

I love how Hollywood had brian washed everyone on there views about vampires .... ~sigh~ ...

but yes REAL vampires have to eat like any living person. and i to have to agree that our auras are different. there are other things different too but i am not going to share them. somethings must be kept secret. but i will say this ... some gifts that ppl strive there whole lives to achive many of us are born with and use with little effort.

Myth... Children are always more fullfilling... and yes a vampire who it's "real food" does almost always get really sick and could possibly even "die".

Macabre run that steak threw a warm room and serve it LOL....Well I know I eat food is eating feeding is another story all together..I found that I'm not well as closeted about talking about my feeding I admit freely now I do this LOL...I used to be a Vegan now I eat rare meat at times when I need that..I have a heart beat which a a vampire of myth doesn't have..I have no idea about my aura not around ppl who are sensitive to them so they haven't told me or if they are well they still havent said anything

this is a little long, Regarding the need for blood, I must say, a vampire's bone marrow is very different from that of a humans. During the change from a human to a Created vampire, the cells in which cause the change (which I will speak more on later) collect in the kidney during the body's attempt to flush them out of it's system. When this happens, a reaction of some sort terminates all production of erythropoietin, a hormone that regulates production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. Without erythropoietin, the body will produce no red blood cells. As you can see, this is not a desirable predicament to be in, for without red blood cells, one's body will suffer from anemia to oxygen deprivation to shock, and then finally die. Other factors also contribute to the lack of red blood cells. A Created vampire in many cases doesn't eat food often enough, if they can even eat at all. To support it's body's metabolism and in an attempt to make up for this, the body will increase the number of red blood cells it destroys and use their material to feed the body. Also the make matters worse, the production of white blood cells in the bone marrow is increased, diverting much of the energy from red blood cell production. So one must seek other sources. Human blood is a the main source of red blood cells and erythropoietin, though pigs and a few various other animals would suffice.
A Created vampire would often ingest blood after abstaining from food for a day or more, and when after ingested, the hormone erythropoietin would serve to restimulate red blood cell production. Fortunately for Created vampires, chemical changes in their body allows for their metabolism to be slowed and altered to accommodate for the small amount of nutrients in the system. Where areas up to 80% of energy created in a human is lost as body heat, a vampire only loses about 60%. However the fact that many have increased activity in their lives, the production of heat is generally evened out. This accounts for the reason why the Created vampires have temperatures that are lower or higher than 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit and why they are so fond of warmth and cold. Another change that helps them is the alteration of the perspiration system deal with the over accumulation of plasma in the blood. Without a way to release it, the body would become swollen with too much fluid, so the perspiration system is altered so that it can absorb fluid from the blood system and release it through the sweat glands...this is a part of my profile check it out

Hollywood has corrupted our minds on vampires along with others. yes in myth they are undead, but in reality they are not. they would have to eat like humans they just choose to also drink blood and go around at night.

I'm sure that vampires eat normal food. I know I do. But then again I am not a "mythical" vampire either, I am real. Now the vampires of stories,lore, movies, ect..ect... I'm sure they don't need normal food, because they are the undead so there would be no need. They just need blood, energy, life force in some manner to survive. But I'm a living breathing creature I have to eat food as do other living vampires.

I agree, most everyday vampires do need food, not just blood to live.

In the origional post the question was would a child/infant satisfy a vamp.
The volume of blood in a child/infant would be much lower than an adult so it would depend on how hungry the vamp was.

Wouldn't that fall under child abuse in most states/countries?

Vampires can eat what they want, unless the things their body is allergic to...he he.

All depends on what popular storyline you want to believe. I personally like the 'can't eat food ' bit. But I don't like the "Can't have sex one". I mean, vampires are the top of the sexual food chain.

In my opinion, vampires of the myth variety wouldn't be able to eat 'human' food, but the one's with beating hearts would most certainly have to. And I would think and adult would offer more sustenance than a baby, just my opinion.

chldren have more energy and much more pure blood. So i would think that they would satisfy more than an adult. However i wouldn't know considering ive never fed off a child.
Now as for 'human' food yes a vampyre with a flesh body must eat or the body will die. But i have come to notice that it makes my cravings much worse.

As for the vampire of myth, real food would probably just get in the way. Since there is no way to digest it, it would just sit in there and soak up blood which would normally be passing into the blood stream. I've heard many different versions of vampire myths that say that young children have the best blood because they are full of life, but an infant or baby would not fullfill them because they are still too weak.

As for "real vampires". I suggest you continue to eat real food, no need to die because you thought you could live off of blood.

umm, well, i eat just about anything (that is food of corse...)
but, one of the "myths" that is true to me, is that i dont like garlic very well...
i think it tastes gross, however i can deal w/ it unless the taste overrides my food...lol
but other tahn that...and feeding on the psi/prana of others.
im sanguine, there for i am able to feed of psi energy and the prana found mainly in blood.

Ok well let me say this, this is all me, from myself and what I understand of feeding and the ways I myself feed. I want you all to understand by no means am I am saying that these are the only ways to feed. Feeding for some is a need and for others it is sexual. There are those to that it is a personal gift of oneself. Some will feed from more than one person.


1. Psychic Vampire (One who feeds off of Ki, Chi or Life Force)

There are many ways to feed this way. Like Clubs, Party's and get togethers. This can also be dangerous for the un-awakened newly awakened (Fledglings) because they can be feeding unconsciously or subconsciously and they can pull in to much. Why this is dangerous well I look at it like this. The body is like a battery if you use too much of it's energy it will die well think of the heart of the body as that battery you take to much energy it will not have enough energy to pump the life's blood. The more experienced Vampire can take just as much as he or she needs to get by. Know that when you feed this way you create a link between the both of you. If you take to much they start to pull some of your energy in thus making a new Vampire.


2. Drama Vampire (One who feeds off of drama)

These are the ones who seek out conflict and draw in the negative energy from the bad situation. These are the ones who like fighting causing trouble and fear.

3. Blood Drinkers (Ones who feed off of blood do to need, want or sexual drive)

This is the most powerful and personal way we feed. This is done with the most trust between two partners. Know that this is also very dangerous because of the many blood born sicknesses. For this reason one must always screen all there donors.

4. Sexual Vampire (One who feeds from sexual energy)

This too is a very personal and powerful way to feed because of the bond it creates you feed two ways from sexual feeding Psy and Emotional energy. BAG IT CAUSE YOU CAN GET STD's if you don't that is why you should always ALWAYS SCREEN YOUR DONORS.

I am sure there are many other ways to feed but these are some of the ways I feed as well as most in my house. Please add you input so that we can all share in this and learn about who and what we are.

modern day vampires need to eat normal food to help sustain them, but they must have blood once in a while to keep them alive. The blood of a child would be far more energizing then that of an adult, due to age. A small child would hold more energy then an adult

If you speak of Vampires in myth and ledgend, then it is obvious that the stories about the are quite correct, after all, they are myths and they are stories.
If however you speak of real vampires, Ill tell you that I personally love tacos. They are my favorite thing to eat. Catch my breeze

indeed the anne rice and hollyweird portrayals have all gone to everyones head and has lead to a lot of misconceptions. In theory the vampire is rendered among the non-living and have no use for human food for it will not have an effect because due to a curse food nor anything else but the blood of another will satisfy (and i take this from my reading about cain) but in modern times food is a nessessity.

who knows, some who claim to be "real vampires" have there opinions and others have theirs...you will never sort it out. it comes down eventually to what you and you alone want to believe.
