What are ghosts?
Are there other spirits? Do they like to interact with people?
Is there a hierarchy of spirits do you think? WHy is that and how would it even be possible?
Let's have one of those.
I dont care which question is answered, and i dont mind getting a little off-topic, it's all good fun and people learn the most during debate anyway.

I believe that ghosts are merely spirits left stranded on earth because they were blinded by the need to finish certain tasks and could not open their eyes to see the path to eternity whether it be heaven, hell, paradise, whatever is after life.

But they had their entire lives to finish that business, and what happens when that window of opportunity closes?

I believe ghosts, and haunted is a metaphor, and personification of sentimentality, and nostalgia.

It is the physiology of the brain that fabricates ghost from random happening, and rare (but rational) anomalies.

Ghosts are a variety of beings, sometimes departed humans, but there are many kinds of beings that could fit the definition of ghost, like a poltergeist. Again, the definition will vary depending on who you ask. Memories of a place that manifest visually or in audio are not ghosts, but glimpses of time fluxing. Time is not linear.
And just because we can't take out our scientific instruments to determine whether or not it is real, just remember that huge equation for 'Standard deviation " of your results. That equation alone computes how far off you are from accuracy. Thus there is no perfect answer, just attempts to get the best answer we can.

Spirits, ghost same attempt to make corporeal entities from metaphor. people are ruled by senses thay want everything to be visible, or tangible. Much as Phantom pains experienced by an amputee the arm is gone, just as the person is gone, the synapses still fire, and people just want so desperately for there to be something..

In a way I think it ego, as if the shear gravity of longing from a surviving person is enough to "delay accession of a departed ethereal entity".

But that doesn't explain why some of those who don't want to see them do. They want it to be gone. I don't believe everything has a cut and dry answer.

That's an interesting thought. I think Poltergeists as well as a lot of paranormal activity are the result of angst and stress. Studies that you will have to look up on your own suggest that psychokinetic capabilities open up (More common in female teenagers than anywhere else) and sometimes cause things to move

The Tina Resch Case is a fine examle of that, and the ending of that was tragic, all so a few Paranormalist could get air time.

and as a one time geist myself, I assure you it takes very little to convince a person they witnessed a ghost sighting or geist experience.

But that still doesn't explain about those who don't want to see do. For example, I had a friend who was helping another friend move. She was left in the new house, well not new as in just built, but in as it was new house to them because they had not lived their before. Anyway, she told me she was at the kitchen washing dishes while her friends went for the last load. She said the dogs started barking down the street. She didn't think much of it, even as those dogs were setting off the next set of dogs down the line, and this repeated until the dog directly across from the window she was looking out of barked. Then for some unknown reason, she ducked. She can't explain what made her duck, but was thankful she did because a knife had coming flying out from its knife stand and stuck into the metal pot that was hanging above the sink. They had limited kitchen space so they had hung all the clean pots. it was the pot that was in line with her head that got nailed. If she hadn't of ducked, it would have struck her in the back of the head. How do you explain that ?
She was terrified and left the house. She stayed outside until her friends returned and she left never to return there. She also advised her friends to move out, and they did.

That is a second party account of an alleged experience. That is how I explain that, as in hearsay.

Testimony in first person is suspect, even more so in second person, I don't know your friend, I don't know how many testimonies she tells people she has, I don't know her biases either, sure you could vouch for her but how well you know her would never transcribe.

A lot of people will become offended at such scrutiny, but it is completely logical. It isn't necessarily bashing anyone's morality, only highlighting the fact that with all the people saying things just like what was offered, it wouldnt be wise to accept it on testimony alone.

I'm curious as to how the Tina case ended, but i'm afraid of google, would you be willing to enlighten me here?

Suffice it say, I believe her. It is very real to her. And that is the only thing like that she has ever told me and we are very close. Her life was and is otherwise uneventful. I can't see a reason for her making it up. We were alone when she told me and hesitated to tell me for fear of what I would think.

I think we have to keep open minds, otherwise we miss a delicious morsel of information
=)

So so far you have only reacted to my post, what are your ideals as to the mechanics of "ghost"?

but we have to close our mouths to chew and swallow ;)

I'm actually rather intrigued at the thought of an actual system of spirits established with specific functions and whatnot, and as a spirit, what needs are there to be fulfilled except for the gathering of energy to remain in existence? From what i hear everything gives off a lott of it, between auras and potential energy (What was it, Einstein saying that if the energy in the head of a needle were released it would be akin to a nuclear blast)
So hauntings in that essence could just be that, spirits gathering more energy than they expected to receive and accidentally manifesting for a split second

I hope you can understand why anecdotes are not sufficient for sound rational conclusions on such a topic.

LMAO
You guys are too fun.
dab, I have no idea, or would even pretend to know such things work. perhaps some things just are not for the mind to devour, but for the spirit to know deep down without debate. Just as you would try to prove to someone that you love them, another exercise in futility, lol

What shall we debate next ?
Is the sky really blue ?

I don't debate the movement of spirit I debate the extended corporeal entity. I personally know what it feels like to be haunted. I know what love is, and how love functions, because I account for the soul, and how it functions. There is nothing mystical, or extra-ethereal about it it is all very fine tune physiology, and neuroscience related.

Technical sticklers often miss the question because they are too busy with the fine details. Suffice it say that we agree to disagree. Now, I have to log out , but I look forward to more debates with you my friend, since you love them so.

From my personal experience, ghosts or paranormal experiences are not always directly linked to an individual's memories or desire to want someone who has passed to continue being with them in spirit. To touch on neuroscience as to allude that all emotions come from synapses in the brain, you would be incorrect in that summation. All things "felt" are connected to the heart as a recent study found that the heart muscle is made up of neurons itself and thus, as other Ancient civilizations revealed, the heart is the seat of the emotions....it is not "all" in the brain.

Thus each person is "wired" differently and understanding is adherent to what one experiences and presently knows. As for me, spirits are very real and yes, there are different types of spiritual entities...some more negative in their energy than others.

Sometimes, energy is residually left behind by those who lived before and is often manifested when exposed to the energy of the living occupying the same space...aka..."residual hauntings." I lived in a house for 2 years with residual haunting but also with intelligent haunting...as paranormal activity picked up the longer we lived there, there were specific entities that tried communicating with me directly through audibly calling out my name when no one was around or moving things from where I'd left them.

As a temporal lobe epileptic, I do hear noises and such from seizures, however...there is a definite difference between that and what I experienced in this house. Since leaving that house, I've not experienced any more such activity or voices which lends to the credibility that it was not "just me." While there are a few who have the unwarranted gift of "sight," discerning these entities as energy revealed through visual means..I "hear" them due to how my brain is wired electronically.

As for knowing who was in the house? I was told after I shared my experiences there that "oh...btw...uh..the landlady's sister was murdered there and the room that's so cold year round you can see your breath in...uh..that was her room when she was a child." Nothing like confirmation to back up the experiences you have...yay...:P

i believe that "spirits" are people that have crossed over into the other realm and are strong enough to still come onto our plane of existence. spirits dont necessarily have to b people that died a horrible death and are still here because of that, but they can b jus people that were on this plane and then jus never wanted to leave... this is what i think and believe
