At the Centre of Biomedical Research in Guadalajara, Mexico geneticist Dr. Luis Figuera is studying a Mexican family with a rare genetic mutation that causes fur like hair to grow all over their bodies. This werewolf disorder has mysterious resurfaced for the first time since the middle ages. The gene that causes the mutation lay dormant for centuries. It can be passed through either parent in the "X" chromosone. This is known as the "Werewolf Disorder".

In the Aceves family, 32 members all have this disease. They live in a mountain town named Zacatecas in Mexico. The hair covers much of their body, even in females. Some members of the family have more hair than others. One of them performs as a wolfman in a traveling circus. They are discriminated against by the local people.

Dr. Figuera may not be able to cure their affliction but he is hoping to isolate the gene and help others. He is also hoping to help others with hair loss.

Minx, you're talking about Hypertrichosis , right? In the varying 'severities', the most hair the body can contain will be all over except the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and around the eyes. It can, also, result in dental disfigurement causing the person to look as though they have wolf-like fangs.

In the freakshows back in the day, people with this disease were often called "Dogboy/girl" or something similar.

This is probably the basis of the werewolf myths.

If this is basis of the myth, were would be the point of the story today of a wild beast that tears people to part. like fables these werewolves were depicked in art and stories of evil creatures. just wondering.

The disorder that I named is often called the "werewolf disease" due to the hair and the dental disfigurements.

The reason why this is probably the basis of the myth is because people often fear what they don't understand. Back before we had science to explain disorders like this, people that were different (ie: mentally retarded, exceptionally good eyesight/hearing, ones with the disorder I named, etc) were either "cursed" or "blessed". Those that were deemed "cursed" were to be feared, so the stories reflected that.

It's partly the same reason why there were so many stories about wandering off in the woods--not only did it keep the people home, but by it being terrifying, they were less likely to embrace it.

I have read most fables of when and where and recently read the reports on the family in mexico, but somewhere in some forgotten text there has to relate to the first werwolf and the man he was. or was it just a wolf that had changed or become able to adopt to humans actions,

There are many differnt stories in various cultures about the origin of werewolves.

The Viking beserkers wore the skin and fur of wolves beacuse the believed that they could channel the wolves strength.

There is also the story of Romulus and Remus who were raised by a owlf mother. Romulus killed remus so that he could be the founder of Rome ( prophecy fulfillment). There is a theory that Remus didn't actually die but was nursed back to heal by his wolf mother and he became the first pure werewolf.

You would think that those with the ability to shapeshift, albeit those from ancient days with the ability given their origins and their descendants today would be a good case for the first "Wolf" types that walked bi-pedal

i have looked and looked and i couldnt find verry much on the first werewolf i think people whanted to hide the truth about werewolfs and the start but i will keep looking to try to find the first werewolf and more info on them.

I understood that Zeus cursed King Lycaon to spend the rest of his days as a wolf after Lycaon tried to kill him.
