The only vision quest I am aware of is one that has been followed by native Americans.

The individual would journey to a remote place and not eat or drink untill his guide etc had made itself known.

We all have different paths in life and I know of many who have multiple paths that they follow. Only that person will know their true path and even that might change in time.

Vision quests aren't common with the people of today, I've never heard of anyone having one. They were common however, with the native americans back in the days before we colonized and made up the United States.

Vision quests were usually common in young males seeking some kind of communication with the spirit world. Prayer was normally used to see this vision quest, although, I don't doubt that they also smoked a little hashish to help also.

Vision quests are not aquired via a level, or a membership on VR, if this is what you are refering to.

Vision quests and or walkabouts, are an age old native quest to learn about oneself through meditations and experiance. More of a coming of age ceremony. I went on several as I was growing into my adult life. Some cultures have then, while others do not. Mostly native american, swamy, and or aboriganies. If you are ready for one, I would search for literature. Other than that, all I can tell you...It is personal, and should not be talked about as a quest is for you and you only.

One usually doesn't discuss what one learns on a vision quest.

For some they become like personal missions.. tasks if you will.
For others they are glimpses of information.

I have found it depends on the culture one bases their path/intentions on and the reasons for taking it.

Simply going to a remote place and sit.. well .. not much will happen but a lot of observing nature. smiles.

I have never had a vision quest.
But I also believe it's a little too personal to share, especially on the Internet.

A Vision Quest is a very Sacred and Personal experiance. And what one finds on there Quest is not to be shared but with a Trusted Shaman who would help you understand what you have experianced.

Personal experiences with similar experiences on my own include lots of intense fasting, sleep deprivation, trance and meditative states, and desires to be met somewhere along the way with subconscious will and universal action. For me, it was kind of a self-commitment that there was something outside of myself, and that I was intent on breaking myself in ways needed in order to manipulate it, and after such "sacrifices," it would "bend" or break itself in ways to accommodate me.

But apparently, vision quests can include calls for otherworldly essences claiming to have some vastly important or helpful information for you, a long and presumably meditative path of self discovery concerning the supposed desires and goals and directions of ones life, and a host of other deep and trippy topics that only a higher form of consciousness within ourselves or a worldlier universal being or a more awesome entity than that of ourselves could enlighten us about.

P.s. Whether or not yu share is a persnal choice depending not only on the content of your discovery but also the perception with which you view it. Should it be a sacred bit for you, keep it sacred. Should you desire to spread your enlightenment, then share the wisdom.

It tends to be a matter of what kind of manners the entity you're dealing with has in my experiences... so if it's a higher state of being within yourself, aka subconscious or one true will, and you were taught how to share, you might just do that. But if ye decide to keep all thee info to yourself, then thatz a personal decision that you shouldn't allow otherz to really dictate... one way or another.

Personally I am wary of things experienced after long periods of fasting etc.

I think the reason for not sharing is simply that it wouldn't mean much to anyone else.....these things are meant for oneself alone.

Twice in the last fifteen years I have taken person quests in the Escalante desert in Southern Utah. Once I went out for three days then a few years ago I went out for nineteen days. Without writing a whole book I can say that while out I had a very hard time both times. It is very tasking physically and emotionaly. I don't regret one minute that I was out and I honestly do feel like I am stronger for it. I have much more self confidence because I did it. I did have a spiritual awakening of sorts the second time. Maybe it was more like an epiphany. I will finish by saying that to do a vision quest is very physically demanding and probably could be very dangerous if you are not familliar with the outdoors. There really wouldn't be a point in doing it if it killed you.
