Too bad I was really wanting to bring a bottle of rye on board. Has anyone seen the typical stock on one of these things? Any rye? Preferably CC? Last time I went to Germany I had to bring my own. Even when I goto the US I need to bring my own.
Maybe I need to food colour my rye red and take it in a wine Bottle ;) I don't like going without rye too long I get pretty cranky... A couple bottles of rye and a soda card and I'd be set. :)
They will certainly have CC available. You will be able to buy a bottle for your cabin on board either from one of the bars or through room service. You just can't buy it for consumption on the ship from the duty free shop.
(You didn't hear it from me, but.......If you wrap your home port purchased bottle in bubble wrap and a plastic bag to keep it and your clothing safe, and then put it in your checked bag, it will get to your cabin just fine. The check over your carry ons very well, but checked bags...not so much. Not that I have any experience doing this, mind you!)
Someone photographed the drink menu its from 12/2005 Just to give you an idea what might be in the bar...

As long as there is Rum and at times wine, we're good. :)
A quick note> Please be mindful of the items you want to bring onboard - Even checked. Because Port Canaveral is so close to the Kennedy Space Station, security tends to be tighter then at alot of other cruise ports.
well, I can certainly see the logic. They get to make money off of what they sell, amongst other things, so....
Still, I just want a bottle of rum for myself :P. We shall see...
Because Carnival Cruise Lines does view my forums and other media advertising/promotions - I must as a professional travel agent state:
If you atttempt to bring alcohol onboard the ship in Pt Canaveral, and if the port authority or Carnival discover the Alcohol - the alcohol will be taken away from you. Carnival will return it after your cruise - the port authority has the option of destroying it.
What if I'm caught deliberately trying to smuggle it in... say a shampoo bottle?
Am I looking at jail time? ;P
Honestly?
You will be denied boarding - and loose every penny you have spent on the cruise.
Also, the port authority IS a government agency with police rights. They do have the authority to arrest you for trying to smuggle it.
Worse case scenerio.
And they will most likely do so. They live for being able to bust people. That is their job.
I'll smuggle mine in my stomach, thank you very much :P
