What is everyone planning to wear? I am trrying to figure out just what to wear myself, but I don't want to be overdressed or underdressed, also My husband has no clue what to wear either, does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm having a tough time too. I have a couple of outfits suitable for formal dining, but I need to find something that suits me for the ball.
At least we have a few months left for it :P.
Well AlchemistDammed and I are working on 1700 century aristocratic French Attire. Think Interview with a Vampire. The scene with the two poodles the end up being Louies dinner..OR the Masquerade Ball in labyrinth .Should look really great...
I am also planning on an 18th Century style outfit. I believe DAG is planning more of a Victorian style gown.
I would bet you would be hard pressed to be "overdressed".

I Love this dress it is really three peices a corset, a long petticoat and an overskirt. fairygothmother.com has it but for all 3 pieces it would cost over $800 USD, I just can't afford all that right now, does anyone know where I can find something similar for less money?
sorry that didn't work, here's the link

Okay.. I have a few suggestions.
1.. and I know this may sound quirky.. is to visit your local ren faire. Way cheaper then fairy goth mother.
You can also visit the dresses here:
http://www.thedarktomb.com/dsgothicdresses.html - if you couple that with a few accessories, you can get a really nice look - for way less monies.
Dracinabox clothing also has a few interesting looks at: http://www.dracinabox.com/home.htm - a good look will run about 200.00 American. They do ship internationaly too.

I am going to have to Second the Dracinabox...They have a huge selection of all types of clothing, shoes and anything you would need for this cruise....
Thanks for posting that Allgenre....
Your welcome.
Hey, I almost forgot! I have a wholesale account with Pleaser USA which makes Demonia boots and shoes. A TRUE wholesale account.. if anyone needs something - let me know.
Damn, just got the demonia witch buckle boots off amazon... I always find this stuff out late, oh well, I'll still be rich one fabulous pair of boots!!!
I'm thinking of more of a vampy kind of dress for my masquerade dress. I haven't decided for sure yet....but i'm thinking I want it a little more streamlined for the ball instead of huge and poofy. Maybe vinyl or something of the sort. But who knows, i may change my mind entirely by tomorrow! =P
for the masquerade I am making a flowy earthy number, very light and feminine....my hubby is making our masks for us...
What in the heck am I going to wear? All I seem to have is medieval period armor. Oh boy! OK, I can probably paper mache a mask, or maybe even weld something up in the workshop, no problem there. But elegant, renaissance era formal wear, I'm in deep now...
i'm planning on a total domino costume with a black corset, black/white checkered ball skirt and opera gloves. Do you think it's too much?
Sounds great to me Azzlyn.
But then again, what the hell do I know!
i would think the domino thing would be perfect for a masquerade!! anything striking, glittery, velvety, flowing, dark, mysterious, soft, romantic, or just plain "dressy" would fit the bill.....right?
bah! skully knows not this 'dressy'.
Mostly I think of it like that Seinfeld episode about the poet shirt.
I'll get it figured out before October. I wanna do formal, but I don't do fluffy. I will get a mask and a bowler though :P.
Ha ha ha... I really do think I like you Skully. My hubby isn't doing the poofy either, not exactly his taste and I look like a pissed off five year old tom boy in frills. I know Brett was thinking of a male version of a harleyquin, black and white diamond pattern, so I think the checkers will work out just fine. Screw uniformity, I'm going all out.
I just got a few sample masks from Visions of Venice.. WOW. I think if it care for it right.. and dont get drunk and sit on it.... it will last a few cruises to come!
Thanks for the feed back on my outfit. On a different topic. Is everyone dressing for dinner each night too. Our we doing a formal thing or our we wearing our clubbing clothes.
I can only answer for us (DAG and I). We will be dressing in our interpretation of "Dark Formal" for the two nights gesignated "formal Dress" by Carnival. Gina is still thinking about what she's wearing when, but will certainly wear a blck victirian style gown one formal night, the other is up in the air as is her masquerade ball outfit.
I will be wearing a black/dark grey tartan kilt, black jacket, matching tartan tie and plaid one fomal night, The second formal night I'm considering either a priest style frock coat or something victorian. I'm doing a kind of foppish 18th century look for the Maquerade ball. I found a coat I like, now I have until August to hit the gym and see how much weight I can loose before I have to order it.
Other nights we wil e wearing goth "club type" outifts. DAG is putting together a leather or PVC "Cyber Goth: outfit for one night at least. I will just be picking up some stuff and putting together what I will wear as O go. I don't tend to put as much thought into it as she does. Hmmm, black dickies, black T-shit..I'm "Good to GO!"
you guy are going to look great. I'm glad your wearing a kilt. My husband (Brent) has one and I've been trying to get him to wear it for ages!! I have a bit of a corset addiction (I have 12) so I'm looking forward to any excuse to wear one.
That sounds great. Encourage him to wear the kilt. I think I'm also going to pick up a "Utilikilt" (with pockets and stuff) to were on shore excursions. Nice and "breezy" for the hot tropical weather! lol
I'm going for something still formalish, but might have a military theme to it. Its just more my style than frills and frocks, which I look like ass in.
I will post a link to a local artist later when I dig out her card at home. She makes leather masks and matching gauntlets. If we give her enough time she can make just about anything, and her prices are very reasonable.
Not like I really want to get through summer, but October needs to freakin' get here... I am seriously about to piddle myself in antisipation. And no one likes you when you stick of pee.
I am with skully418. I just don't do poofy well. :( I have NO FREAKIN CLUE what I am wearing for the masquerade. The club nights are easy. It's the formal stuff that I have problems with. At least I have 3 months to plan. And yes, I have started looking already! I can't WAIT!
