Ok, I have spent hours online looking for gowns/dresses for the Masquerade ball..... My mind is now a heaping pile of goo! And im running out of time. Anyone want to share what they will be wearing?
For the Masquerade Ball Gina is having a dress made by Ashes Clothing. She has spoken with them already and gotten a date for when her measurements are due so that she has the dress in time. She has been scoureing the internet and our local shops for some other outfits.
I have my outfits planned and I know where I am getting all but one item. I also have a date by which I either have to fit in something off the rack (I have a ways to go right now) or get measurements in. I will be buying the coat I am wearing from Passional in Philadelphia. I also found a leather "tails" coat, but I don't think I want to drop $600.00!
Good luck.
KCRC- that is a great site.... but nothing jumps out at me. They have some great dresses... just not the ONE. lol
try one of these:
www.artifaceclothing.com
www.phazeclothing.com
www.versatilefashions.com
good ol www.dracinabox.com, and Ebay...
and even Hot Topic now has three ball gowns in stock online.....one is white, one black and one is black and red....they run only $92 and look like they would be easy to add embellishments on, and make your own....
Were were down in Philly today and stopped by Passional. They had some new coats in stock as they are getting things in stock for the Libertine Ball and I saw one that will be perfect for the masquerade party. It even fit! So only 2 things left for me. Gina still has some skirts, a dress and some corsets to buy.
AAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
I still have nothing! Besides my own indecision, i have been on a diet, lost 13 lbs so far.... and my clothes are getting big. now I have that to worry about. lol
I haven't got cr*p to wear yet... I'm kinda getting worried too. No mask, nothin'.
I just have regular person clothes!!!
V4mp1re, hehe I am not that bad...but if i keep losing weight at this rate I will have nothing, not even "normal" clothes.... lol U think they will let me on in my birthday suit???? lol

gothnurse,
Have you tried www.galleryserpentine.com or www.rosemortem.com these are good sites for clothing and they have a 4week turn around time for custom orders.
I do most of my shopping online so if you need more help just ask:)
I was able to find a few things on eBay. I noticed that they seem to have more things available for women than men, but I did find 3 poet shirts. I'll get back to you all once they arrive and I check out the quality and all...
Yeah, men's clothing is hard to find. All the ladies' stuff is HOT! But the good guy's stuff is hard to find. However, I found a place in northern, NJ - Cafe Soundz that carries a lot.
I've been there! I was very impressed by the selection.
I better start to get around to buying something myself... Dam procrastinator!
I litterally have nothing! hahah.
Do we have to wear really formal clothes to the Masquerade Ball? Or is regular gothy stuff O.K. (with a mask of course)?
I have no time left to order anything off the net and there are no decent places to buy that kind of stuff here...
Also, is there a laundry service or laundry room on the ship? Would make packing a little lighter!

via all genre website....

Been there... it's kinda vague ... oh well...
What about the laundry thing?
Lulu
There are coin operated laundries onboard the ship.
There are two formal nights - Monday and Thursday. You need to be dressed up if going into the main dining rooms.. or youll have to eat at the buffett. Mainstream formal or gothic/ren formal.. (whos wearign the willy wonka suit with the purple jester hat?)
Masquerade Ball:
NO XRated clothing. You should be dressed up fancy.. not club wear. If you need a mask this late?.... go to party city, walgreens, or Iparty.. they have them cheap cheap.
Most of the girls are wearing gothic/victorian gowns. so I've been told.
I'm barely looking for my clothes, so my shit is gonna SUCK! hahah... screw it. Dam working too much.
My friends and I decided to just forget about the masquerade ball. That made it alot easier on all four of us.
well how strict is the dress code gonna be? if you're not up to par w/ the victorian era are u denied entrance? or can u just look fierce in a gothic themed outfit w/ a mask?
I have the same concern... do the guys need like tux??? for the formal dinners or would a nice jacket with vest or tie be fine????
OMG only one week of shopping left and I can find anything good.
I'm sure Z can answer all of this definitively-- but from what I've heard from other cruisers- for the captain's dinner, and formal dining onboard women are expected to wear at minimum a nice cocktail-y type dress- any style- but can wear a long eveining dress if they like- and men are expected to wear a nice suit with a jacket and tie- or go way formal with a tux if they prefer. For the Masquerade- I'm not wearing a gown per se, but a long skirt, corset, blouse and mask. with a nod to the victorian era- but not pure period. I'm hoping that's OK.
Well... I just ordered my mask today... I hope it's OK. It's Victorianesque, but with a devil twist. Now I just need coat, vest, and other shite.
THe formal night you just need a dress shirt... no jeans or shorts... You don't have to go crazy but it's kick ass to look sharp at the dinners. I'm tuxin the Masquarade ball.... doin the Tom cruise kinda look
You mean ray bans, tube socks, a white oxford and tighty whities?
;)
Listen closely. For the formal nights.. you have the choice of modern formal wear OR.. gothic/vampire formal, or victorian formal.
This is one of the benefits of our group. A PVC gown IS allowed.
Sweet!!!
Our masks arrived today. Unfortunately (or fortunately) they sent me the wrong mask. The good thing is the one they sent is nicer than the one I ordered, and better yet, it matches with the wife's!
Two days ago, we received my cool long coat as well.
Now just waiting on one last shirt, and we need to possibly by some trousers and shoes.
Either way, the tough stuff is out of the way!
Can't wait!!!
@Antonius
Sounds like a plan to me. Can Sandy and I join you guys for drinks then?
Well I'm wearing a nice shirt and slacks. I don't own a tie or a tux, so its the best I'll do. It looks sharp though.
Is anyone picking a time period other than victorian? I think my husband and I are the only one who won't be in that theme. Not sure if thats good or bad though....
Well, my outfit is some odd fetish-victorian-cyber mix. Yeah, sounds odd...but it works...I SWEAR!
I had to pull it together last min, since the pasties and g-string I was GOING to wear got banned. (ha-ha, I am just kidding)
Still sewing my Victorian dress! No sleep and probably will be right up till my plane flight! OH YEAH! :D
So what is the dress for the masquerade ball. Under the What to Wear part of the allgenre site it says "pick a time period and run with it"..yet now it seems it is victorian only?
Argh, i spent like 2 months sewing our costumes and although by fluke they are 18th century, we went with 18th century Japan :( *sniffle*
I think any period is aright even modern formal as long as you look like you made an effort. I think the only requirement is a mask. Japanese 18th cent sounds great to me.
18th Century Japan is fine hun! really.
I think im just doing vampire goth elegant.. im to freakin tired to do much else.
