Cleveland has taken Vampire the White wolf game to a new level. Some gamers have actually purchased a house and hold LARP games there, and they've been doing it for quite some time.
I've been following the progress of the Cleveland by Night WebPages since I've found out about it. It seems solid and safe, to the point of no drinking or smoking (Not that I blame them for those rules).
My question to those who may have some experience in LARP is what should I expect? I'll be going there this Friday to join in with my girl. She seems excited, but I’ve had no experience with LARP. I have 7 years table top experience gaming and even ST a few games, but hanging out with up to 20 people gaming in Live Action seems like a different ball field to me. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
This does seem like an interesting subject but it really doesnt pertain to my life and what is going on in it at the moment. I will let you know if i hear of anything.
humm i dont want to sound like in a daze but i have never heard of L.A.R.P.
Live Action Role Play
From what i can see its a mix of role playing a character (acting your character) and theatrical acting, some LARP uses fake weapons to act out combat as well. For magical stuff seems to be dice rolls to determine.
LARP is very interesting indeed and Heims pretty much hit the nail on the head.
It is basicaly roleplay put into a more theatrical setting and no need to role dice on the outcome.
It places more empahisise in your ability to play a role and often uses props to help along the atmosphere.. I strongly reccomend you give it a go and dont be to overwhelemd at the start you will soon get used to it
I should have never moved away from ohio that sounds like fun.
Coming from someone with 20 years plus of TT experience and several years of LARPing....
We have a LARP down here thats been running for ages... and it has its ups and downs.... the rules for a LARP game handle differently from TT.... mainly to keep people from hitting each other etc... but you play the part, much like a role in a play or similar... you can dress up, speak in an accent, whatever 'flavor' your character is.
It sounds either complicated or cheesy, but a well run game can make you blink on occasion :)
WoW! Sounds awesome guys, I love to play Live role playing games. They have them in California also. i love it good thread!
