Welcome to The Coven of The Forbidden Fruit
The term forbidden fruit is a metaphor that describes any object of desire whose appeal is a direct result of the knowledge that it should not be procured. It can also refer to something that someone may want but cannot have.
The apple is the most commonly used visual for the Forbidden Fruit. In some biblical interpretations, this was a metaphor for sexuality, the first sin and so forth.
Lilith is the Coven Mascot. She, according to some, was the First Woman rather than Eve. It is said that she was created from the earth just as Adam was; therefore, she did hold the belief that she was beneath him. She, instead, desired to be his equal. Adam disagreed with her, proclaiming, "you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one."
His chauvinistic attitude angered her greatly. She cursed God, and because she dared to utter his sacred name: YHWH, she was banished from the Garden.
Eve was created then. It is thought that it was Lilith who later coerced the snake into offering Eve the apple. In some artist renderings, Lilith, herself, is the serpent in the tree. Lore often portrays her as wanting to destroy what she could no longer have.
The Forbidden Fruit. We've all had our own experiences with it at one time or another. We always want what we cannot have. In this Coven, I will offer you my version of the Forbidden Fruit. Here will be your own Garden of Eden, where you can play and learn and grow. My Garden, however, will not be like its namesake. I will encourage you to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. Ignorance is not
bliss within my domain.
