We walked quiet as death,
Hand in hand toward linden.
Fog around us, our morning breath
Towards the place where few had been
As we arrived at the path’s source
Nature, it seemed, was a powerful force.
Lilac blossoms and crabapple
Fell to the road in spinning circles
Mixing with the dust in dry waves so ample
That they were everywhere, their dew like sparkles
Making things shimmer like the sun in a waterfall
Looking back, the scene seems so small.
I was entranced by the beauty around me
The scene now imprinted on my mind forever
At night as I dream all I ever see
Is us, walking in those woods together,
And the moment when we reached the spot
Where fate met destiny and he finally stopped.
He pulled me to the side,
Placed a kiss on my throat
My blushing I couldn’t hide
As he seemed to dote
Upon my face in admiration,
He revealed the purpose of our destination.
“We’ll always be together,”
He promised me then
“No matter what forces may gather
To harm us in the end.”
I said, “I’ll be gone before that can happen,”
His face fell at the truth, saddened.
Lying in my bed I return to then,
Now three-thousand miles away
To the days of “Now” and “When”
And I remember how I wished I could stay
Forever safe with him, where I’m meant to be,
On that day, at the place that few people live to see.
(P.S.)It was written in my english class, so I had to change a few details. This poem is about the day I was "turned". The kiss in the fourth stanza was really a bite. So, since it had to be changed, it came out more like a love poem than I would have liked.
