but before I go…as I find it amusing, I reiterate - I was having a conversation about 2001 Space Odyssey at the beginning of the week, it was on at the time, and I mentioned whether the obelisk scene had happened yet, to which then ensued a difference of opinion as to whether it was an obelisk or a monolith. We agreed to disagree and then I said I would try and use the word obelisk in a conversation this week. Well as luck would have it I was round at my brothers last night and he asked me to draw him something which he had in his mind, an abstract piece (which I have not as yet started), anyway I asked what this was and the meaning of that and then my brother states he wants the structure floating in space to be like that of an obelisk. I explain that he has just created my sentence of the week. Anyway we look up both words and turns out they both mean the same thing.
