Hello everyone! I am here to talk about the Grisha trilogy. It's a young adult series that also has a side duology, Six of Crows, which I am planning to read asap. But today I am talking about the trilogy.
General plot: Alina is a general mapmaker in the First Army of Ravka with her best friend, Mal, when through a dangerous journey through the unsea, she discovers she has summoning powers that are unlike any of the other summoning powers. She's immediately taken to the Little Palace by the Darkling to begin her training. Things are not as it seems and the three books continue on showing her progress and her gaining control of her powers as well as learning to know who to trust. There is action, mystery, fantasy, and a bit of romance.
Favorite female Character: As much as I love Alina, my favorite female character is definitely Genya. The way she is presented through the book is amazing and she can be seen as a role model to anyone who's had to deal with abuse or sexual assault. The book isn't one of fluff and cutesiness and Genya is one main shocking reminder of that. But the way she is written is amazing and just what people need to see in this world.
Favorite Male Character: This is going to be a tie. I love the Darkling and I love Nikolai! There's heartbreaking moments with each. While I do love Mal, these two caught my attention and never let go, even when they probably should. I love how they were represented one way so you could get a judgement of their character and just when you think you know who they are, there's something that throws you for a loop. I truly enjoyed when they came up, even if that wasn't always a good thing. Really well written characters and great ideas.
