However this is time

Having friends and loved ones

On which we can lean



Having independence is

Something to be treasured

Beginning each day with

A positive attitude

Makes it easier to achieve goals

Rather than elude



Smile deep down inside

Be proud of what you are

Your dreams and desires

Not having to feel or think but

Emotions to come out

Or validate us, empower us so

Others may know what we are about



It can transport us to another place in time

To places we remember from the past

Replaying those moments in our mind

And remembering who was part of the cast



It can inspire us to achieve things

We never thought we could do

Our mentor and our muse to create

Something completely out of the blue



Sometimes it can cause us to feel

Sorrow and pain

But it does help us in healing

Despite all that we have been through

We are stronger than we was before

Even through some of the tough times

We find that we love each other more



You have showed me a love that runs

This is a story of a knight and his true love

A love that was brought on the wings of a dove



She stood in the meadow with flower in hand

In her dark hair flowed a red ribbon band



Her beauty had bewitched him and stole his heart

He knew from that moment their souls would never part



Their love grew as each day passed and went

A locket he made with love was given for engagement



Their wedding was just a few weeks ahead

When the news came it filled their hearts with dread



A war had come to which he was to fight

The night before he left they made love through the night



With the dawn arriving and his call to duty came

Their lovemaking climaxed as they screamed each other’s name



In that moment they knew their spirits were eternally wed

The night they became one on a satin covered bed



The morning came and he knew it was his time to leave his bride

At that moment he swore to her that he would always be by her side



Tears rolled down her face as she watched him ride out of sight

A chaotic world in which we live our hours



Death and destruction on every headline

Wondering what our children’s future may be

What they will have to deal with and what they may see



Afraid that when we send them off to school

That they don’t end up in the morgue and their bodies left to cool



No signs of improvement or glimmers of relief

A chaotic world leaving so much sorrow and grief



Economic times leaving families without an income

Not knowing where their next meal may come from



Wondering if they will have a roof overhead

The stresses of life leaving feelings of dread



Causing some to lose total control

Leaving behind them a senseless death toll



The Human race is now a race for life
