Every breath is part of you
A separate wishing left behind
Don’t slip and fall
On the shards of the glass of
The crystal heart you lost
Your own empty soul,
Your own breathless mind
You walked the darkest avenue
You chose the coldest moonlit night
To turn and lash out,
Claws unsheathed, unleash the
Demons of your mind
They can’t hide, taking over you
From the inside, hollow and unbroken
Now you find
Under the layers of dust,
There’s a teardrop made of glass
That you can’t shatter
Maybe in the dried up river
Of your final hopes, you’ll see
The flitting torn wings
Of a dragonfly
The wings that once belonged to you
Have you forgotten how to fly?
The broken wishes drift out of reach
Your fingers brush the surface of a dream
The ripple, the ever-extending circles
Light wake over the peaceful lie
The dark waters pull you under
And you don’t fight
To find the surface
You don’t need to breathe.
There’s a sudden rift
Between who you were
And what you are
The light above the waters
Glimmering, bouncing off the currents
Fading, farther… farther
Away into the seamless night
Stream of conscious thought
Begging to let go
Blue, green, flecks of dust
Illuminated so serenely
By the sun’s far-reaching rays
Not far enough.
Maybe somewhere out there
Someone’s noticed you’re missing
Dismiss the thought.
Who would miss you?
Dry land again, but it’s just sand
Grains slipping through your fingers
Taunting, taunting, sadistic glee
Falling, falling, into the dark again
Is it the light that blinds you?
Or is it the shallow nothing?
Will the end of your world
Be tomorrow’s headlines?
Stand in frozen shock
The corners of sharp deception
Everyone’s a traitor
In one way or another
You, beaten and enraged
Abandoned and discouraged
Sweet solitary silence lurks
Beyond the gates of hell
You know you deserve no less
The color in your eyes
And the color in your soul
Are flawlessly aligned –
All the shades of grey.
Dimly lit meadows
Dry grass and dandelions
Under the faceless purple night
Stars, stars, a meteor shower
Of lies and forgotten dreams
Crying out for recall
But there is nothing there
Nothing anymore.
Maybe
There never was
She whispers goodbye
Dark veil draped over beautiful eyes
Pricks her finger on a jet black rose
And she tells me quietly
This is the blood that has to die
This is the blood of regrets
Her footsteps echo in the silent chapel
The chapel made of stone
The candles shine no more
She bows her head
Touches her palms to the cross
The burn marks are there to stay
There is no forgiveness for those like you and me
She speaks in a monotone
The winds howl from all directions
In this chapel made of stone
And the bricks collapse and the walls fall in
Crushing all her bones
With her dying breath she says to me
You are why I’m here
In this chapel once of stone
This is the blood that has to die
This is the blood of regrets
And her passionate faith, it fades away
Into pitch dark seas
And her eyes that would shimmer
Like a midnight moon
Glaze over and stare at me
Six dark angels with broken wings
Bring to me thoughts, unpleasant things
I sense that you are standing near
Is it your whispers I can hear?
Bloodstained floors and the claw-scarred walls
The dark foreboding lies I feel
Searching down these tortured halls
~~~~~~~~~
Your soft poison toxic breath
Whispers in my ear
Convinces me I have to change
But I won’t change for you
I believe in what I have done
Nothing can ever be the same again
You’ve broken me beyond belief
Into the wretched realm of woe
Stripped me of my own free will
Taken all my liberties
~~~~~~~~~
You were beautiful there in the sky
Wings like doves and hair like a raven
Wings I stained with blood
You eclipsed the moon
And I struck you down
The dagger was jeweled
Curved as a talon
Unblemished crimson
Soils my blade
Stains your skin
Destroys your torn wings
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fragrance of silence fills the room
Sweet immortal roses bloom
Thorns of gold with poison tips
From my throat the life blood drips
Night from knife the darkness falls
I see no difference there at all
The hour glass is slipping fast
My sands of life now cannot last
Wishing on a stepping stone
They have stripped me of my throne
My voice they took, my heart as well
The pain in me begins to swell
Fly to see the raven’s wing
Unscarred with any lightened thing
Careful not to drown in pain
Hiding all internal shame
Suff’ring all eternal shame
Fly to see the raven’s wing
Unknown to any earthly king
Tar-seeped night in floods of black
Bring to moonlight our mistakes
Remind us always our mistakes
Fly to see the raven’s wing
A peaceful break from everything
With deadened eyes and ashen skin
Escape from all our earthly sin
Release from agony within
Fly to see the raven’s wing
Oak to dirt to heaven bring
Laden with a gown of thorns
Simply like the goddess warned
Deadly as the goddess warned
Fly to see the raven’s wing
Salt-water final church bell sings
Wand’ring in midwinter night
Waiting to give up our fight
Wanting to give up our fight.
Fly to see the raven’s wing
Haunted with uncertainty
Streaked with a forever rain
Dark with many unseen stain
Guarding those who feel no pain
Comfort those who feel no pain.
