It takes him making you hit rock bottom in one form or another. It takes something unforgivable and horrible, really, if he can keep breaking your heart and for you to keep going back to him.
It takes not heartache, but rage.
Usually people will keep going back to those that aren't good enough for them (and honey, if he keeps hurting you, he's no good for you) until something so bad happens that they can't stand it a minute longer. It takes rage or a third party to break you from the vicious cycle of being with him, and being hurt by him.
