We shared an umbrella as we dashed from the party,
Crunching oyster shells beneath our feet
Dodging the greater puddles, laughing.
You caught me when I lost my footing
And you looked into my eyes as you held me
Above the ground. And you whispered,
"I would die for you."
Nights like this, I reach back for that moment
When the world smelled of fresh rain
And I was all to you, when you would have chosen
Me before the air you breathed. You're gone now
And I don't miss the you that you became...
But oh, my prince, how I miss you.
